Never Satisfied

Rate this book
Set in New Orleans, Louisiana, Never Satisfied is a story about envy and how it possesses the power to demolish anything standing in its path once one becomes consumed by it. Twenty-two year old Jasmine learns this lesson the hard way when her covetousness for the lavish life style of her best friend, Kyrielle, spirals out of control. After being thrown from a life of comfort into one filled with despair, she meets Kyrielle and takes her under her wing. It isn't until several years later - when Kyrielle becomes romantically involved with Nique, a wealthy drug dealer - that Jasmine develops an unhealthy jealousy of her. With Jasmine's insatiable appetite for a life that isn't her own, she won't let anything (or anyone) stop her from getting what she wants. However, just when she thinks she has reached the pinnacle of the status that she has underhandedly worked so hard to obtain, she finds out that nothing is what it seems and ends up tangled in a huge web of deceit that results in bloodshed.

Never Satisfied

Jasmine had the odds stacked against her from the very beginning. Mom on drugs, unfit foster parents and then having to learn to survive for herself. I liked her at first but after she started trying to compete with her best friend Kyrielle, I lost all respect for her. The title definitely fits, because she was never Satisfied. She had a real rollercoaster ride of a life. I am curious to see where things go for her in part 2.

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.....The author clearly has talent so kudos to you for pursuing a passion. I read the first chapter and I was excited. Unfortunately, I did not feel that same excitement again until chapters 30- 36. Even now chapters 2- 29, I am left thinking was all the detail necessary. Could there have been more action, more meat to the story? What could have been deleted or added to make it more interesting? Also, it didn't seem plausible that Jasmine - a foster child with a street wise mentor -was so naïve and innocent. The one twist that gave me a “whatttttt” moment was the reveal on the final page. Unfortunately after all the extra dialogue that was supplied between chapters 2-29, I don’t feel as if I know any more about any of the characters that I did when it started. On a positive note there were very few grammatical errors. However those that were evident did distract a bit from the story. I can’t say I will read part 2. This story was a miss for me.

Jasmine was abandoned from the day she was born, but a family took her in and raised her until they died. At 13 years of age Jasmine was put in the system. This is were she met her bestfriend Kyrielle. Now Jasmine is an adult and lives with her boyfriend who she really doesn't appreciate. She feels she should get more out of life than what he is giving her. She wants a man like her bestfriend Kyrielle has, so she did just that. She met a guy, he gave her what she asked for and she was thinking about leaving her boyfriend for him. So to make a long story short, the boyfriend found out, he got really upset and hurt her bad. She left him, moved in with her bestfriend Kyrielle, fell in love with her boyfriend and got pregnant. But little did she know, everything that happened was a plan put together by Kyrielle. This story took me for a ride. Jasmine got on my nerves thinking she was entitled to get what she deserved, but didnt work for it. What happened at the end I didnt see coming. I'm just going to say, I didnt see alot of the things the author wrote about coming. Read this book, because it will have you mad, wanting to hurt someone and yelling at the book, but I loved it!!!!

Page turner

This story was sooooo good. The author did a great job because I went through every emotion reading this story. I found myself talking out loud numerous times. The book started off by giving us some background on the lead character Jasmine. All I can say is bless Jasmine's heart. She was so naive to me. I was really pulling for her to get things together. As the main character, I wanted to strangle her at times and hug her at others. This girl was truly never satisfied. The title was very appropriate. I can't wait to read part 2 because I know the fun will continue. Excellent job!

speechless

This book had me confused 97% of the time. Things that were happening just didn't really make sense to me however I kept reading and when I got to the end my exact thoughts were I know tf you lying to me. All though I suspected something was off with ole girl(and I'm not saying her name you've got to read it to figure it out) I didn't expect this. Now book one has left me with a billion QTNA's which I hope to get in book 2.

Jasmine was a complicated woman with much tragedy in her life. Crack baby at birth, abandoned, but she survived.1st adopted family was great until a car accident sent her back to the system. Her foster care family used and abused her. She made a friend in Kryielle in foster care, that taught her some survival skills but that relationship had issues as well. In this book, she finds herself in a live in situation, but she is competing with her BFF who has a street entrepreneur as her live in.
She choses the wrong people to be friends with. Her choices go from bad to worse. She is caught in a spiral of bad to worse choices...
Urban Fiction is my last choice in reading genres, however I read this in one sitting.
New author to me, but I think I would read them again...Ending was abit unexpected...

Never Satisfied

This was definitely a page turner but these characters really mad me mad throughout this book. I don't even know where to start with them. Jasmine was the one that made me mad the most though because she has so much potential. I think if her adopted parents would have been alive she would have been good. She needed validation from the people in her life to make her feel like something instead of looking at herself as the prize. I still do believe that Kyrielle way before the set up was in competition with her but Jasmine was naive and thought what she had was better but it really wasn't. Never to much cared for Khandi cause she was the same as Ri but I guess that was the plan. Jasmine didn't appreciate what she had and things just didn't work out for her. Part 2 will be interesting!!!

This New Orleans tale kept me going... in the beginning I really liked the main character Jasmine. It seemed like despite all the odds stacked up against her (mother being on drugs, having unfit foster parents and then living fending for herself after nearing her 18th birthday). I just knew that her visiting her councillor would somehow help her sort through some of the unfortunate things that happened in her life but out of nowhere this book took a spiraling turn. As I began to learn more about how Jasmine felt and treated her boyfriend Sky, I slowly but surely began to grow a love hate relationship with Jasmine... Sky was a black man with plan to take over his father's barber shop and earn his money legitimately. But instead of standing behind her man and supporting his dream, Jasmine was too busy trying to compete with her best friend, Kyrielle, who lives a luxurious lifestyle, because her man ran the New Orleans streets. I found myself flat out mad sometimes at how selfish she was in her relationship and then it truly upset me when she had to the nerve to get jeleaous of Roxie when she herself was out doing plenty of dirt. I felt that Jasmine was making the same mistake that we have all made: Going after the bad boy, the rich guy, the hustlers instead of paying attention to completely viable, phenomenal men who have their ish together sitting right in front of us... The middle of the book was in fact most intriguing to me because even though I hated how Jasmine was playing Sky, it was fun reading about her sneaking out with her new found friend, Khandi. It shocked me how quickly Jasmine turned from college girl to consuming her time and company with the streets. But the way that the author illustrated their wild events is exactly how a good girl goes bad in real life. Money, drugs and love can pull you into some tricky situations quicker than anything and I think that was made very evident in this story. Jasmine was so out of pocket the entire book that I ended up not liking her character at all but she was exactly what this book needed to be as interesting as it was. The plot kept me turning the pages and I was pleased with the story line until the end. There were two things that bothered me about this book. (1) Why was Kyrielle's son with Jasmine all the time? I mean I know Kyrielle wasn't a good mother, because it bothered me how she just left her child anywhere and with anybody, but it truly got under my skin how Jasmine was around him, treating him like he was her own son all while she was messing with his mother's man. I mean to me that was the foulest part of this novel and it kept my skin crawling the entire time, especially towards the last few chapters when she brought him to Nique's family house. I was like this heffah is so disrespectful. Also, (2) I was left confused with the ending. I understand that Kyrielle had concocted a plan to knock the male king pens out and she had a secret enterouge that had been circling her this entire time, but I still felt like there were elements of this story that weren't finished. I wanted to know more about Roxie and how she tricked Sky out of his money? Or did she kill him to? And what else did the women do after they knocked out the male head haunchoes. What did they do with their female prowess? When I read the last few paragraphs, I found myself wishing that the second half of this book could have been about that instead of the events leading up to it. I knew exactly where the author was going with this story I just wish it was carried out a little further. That didn't mean that this book wasn't enjoyable, though. The characters were beyond entertaining and their New Orleans accent was clearly imagined as I read through their dialect. I read each chapter anticipating what would happen next. And at no point could I have guessed what was to happen. Its worth reading for sure. Kudos to Infinity for writing something interesting and nothing like anything I have ever read.
