When Cozy Mystery author, Patti Benning, isn’t busy plotting the deaths of multiple fictitious characters, she loves to spend time hiking with her rescue dog, Max, who is her bestest writing buddy.
Patti loves to cook and the food in her books has been tried and tested in her very own kitchen. She’s technologically shy, and stays away from social media a great deal, because it makes her feel more awkward and introverted than meeting someone face to face.
Writing is the perfect job for her because in her books, she gets to explore all the topics she loves, food, animals, crafts and reading. She loves her readers dearly, and is thankful for the opportunity to share with them through her work.
Moira Darling continues to explore expanding the deli hours. Her daughter continues to explore starting a candy store in the neighboring town. Her and David attend Fourth of July fireworks and a body is found. It is David's friend Henry who has been missing for six months. David and Moira gets involved in the investigation and the fun begins leading to the truth and arrest. I would recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of mystery novels 👍🔰. 2023 👒😀😡😮
It's the fourth of July in Maple Creek and Moist and David go on a date to the beach for a picnic and fireworks. At the end of the show, a body is discovered. It turns out to be the owner of the shoo Moira's daughter has had her eye on as well as David's friend, who can't imagine how the guy passed away . . .
This addition to the series was longer than most. It was also more somber. My least favorite so far. Still a good cozy mystery.
Ok I am trying out where to start....Ok I will start off with the food. YUMMY everything described in the book sounded amazing and I am really hoping someone can come up with a recipe book for these stories. The seem so simple to make when you hear and/or read about it but I have no idea how to make soup haha.
Ok let's get into the story. I was upset to find out that Henry. It almost reminded me about any suspenseful movie or tv show you watch. You know that they are most likely not around anymore but you are holding out hope for a happy ending. But the fact that Alice was acting so shady towards Candice and Moira, I just couldn't figure out why she was lying. I would've gone to the police but you just never know what people are thinking when they are backed against the wall.
I think the part that upset me the most was what happened to Moira and Maverick. I felt her pain when she got the phone call from the police. I think what lead me to fall in love with Moira more and more was when she was talking to Detective Jefferson and he was explaining how his week was going, her mind wondered. She stopped thinking about herself and started back on the case. She went with her gut and she once again solved the crime, she put her families safety first. I would prefer that she keeps her property and rebuilds her house on that same plot. I mean she has lived there since her daughter was young and it has so many memories for her. I can't wait to see what Book & has in-store.
Wow, I can't believe this is already the 6th in the series! That went by quick! This instalment of the Darling DELIciuous Cozy Series is just as good as the first 5. Moira is saddened when she realizes that Candace is really starting her own life. The book starts out with a new employee, Meg, who also turns out to be a good fit and another hard working employee. Meg is a quick learner and gets along with everyone, including the quiet Dante. Moira and David see them together while out on a date at the new steakhouse in town. With Meg working out, Moira is available to help David investigate the death of his friend Henry who had mysteriously disappeared. When he is the identified as the body found in the lake at the 4th of July festivities, there seem to be more questions instead of answers that they expected to find. David and Moira are scared of getting involved with Alice and letting Candace buy the store from her that she has been dreaming of for months. That is just the beginning of it though, you will have to read the book and see all of the excitement , and of course, Moira finds herself in the middle of things again. Maple Creek and Lake Marion never seem to be quiet when Moira is around. This book is consistently good along with the others in the series. Wonderful to read!
“Moira Darling thanked the elderly woman and handed her the paper bag with a sandwich and fresh salad inside.”
This has quickly become one of my favorite series to read on my Kindle. All of the books are well written, fast paced, fun reads. We have seen the characters evolve so much and I can’t wait to see where they go next. They are easily relatable to me. Moira is in her 40’s and divorced. She finds herself starting the next chapter of her life, opening a The Darling Deli. The food combinations they serve sound absolutely delicious. I wish they would include some of the recipes. This installment revolves around Miora’s daughter Candice who is planning on opening a candy shop. Things get complicated when a dead body shows up and it turns out to be tied to David, Moira’s blossoming love interest, and the building Candice is hoping to buy. It will keep you guessing right until the very end. I highly recommend checking out this series!
I received this book free of charge from the publisher. This review is my honest opinion, and is in no way influenced by the author or publisher. I thoroughly enjoyed reading all 6 of Patti Benning's books, such a good start for a new author. In Thai Coconut Murder, we are finding out what happened to David's friend, Candace has finally found a store, & Moira and David are getting closer. So much information, (still a short book) and a "can't put it down" reading. Still lots of material for more books, keep 'em coming Patti. Those with negative reviews, need to use some common sense and keep on reading, and enjoy a good story.
Moira is busy training her newest employee when she takes time off to celebrate the Fourth of July with David. Their lovely evening takes a turn when an ear-splitting scream fills the air. A body is found in the lake and David and Moira are soon on the case.
The romance story-line with David and Moira continues at a slow pace, just the way the characters want it. I enjoy the well-developed characters in this series. I feel like I know them. The action moves at a good pace. There are enough twists and turns to keep the reader intrigued.
When David's friend shows up dead after being gone for months with no contact, Candice believes she's finally going to get her dream candy shop but Moira knows it isn't all sunshine and roses. Love this group and can't wait to see what happens next.
I was glad to see that as opposed in the first 5 books in the series the mystery wasn't made with the same "cookie cutter". Most of the story doesn't even take place in Maple Creek and the Deli. The characters developing nicely and I am looking forward to book #7.
What a terrible thing to happen at the 4th of July fireworks on Lake Marion. This book is full of twists and surprises. I loved every minute of it. Another fun loving cozy mystery.
Kindle Unlimited, used to cozies, and tend to cut them slack, BUT...These are all as bad, and will do with review what the 'writer' did with the books, copy/paste cookie cutter. Each of these books are beyond stupid, as in stupid plots stupid situations stupid obvious solutions/killers, and no idea about what is being written about. She keeps writing about 'cooking' and judging by her 'expert' descriptions, she can't boil water. There are major plot flaws and issues and other problems in every single overpriced very short 'book' that still managed to do in every one without fixing glaring problems, one being redundancy of previous unneeded descriptions.

“Thai Coconut Murder” begins with Moira and David watching fireworks on the shores of Lake Michigan on July 4th. It's nice to see them actually enjoy a date without … wait, a dead body has just been found in the water! Worse still, it is an old friend of David who has been missing for some time. Moira had been hoping to meet him because she heard he was retiring and his toy store would have been ideal for Candace's new candy shop. The plot, as it progresses, is pure bonkers and, as usual, Moira puts herself into more danger than she should. Why she doesn't carry a fun (a big on with extra cartridges is beyond me!) Even though it is almost twice as long as some of the earlier books in the series it really doesn't do much with the extra space. For example, the relationship between Moira and David has still barely passed the peck on the cheek mark – there have been shorted marriages! 3 Stars.
Book number 6 of the Darling Deli Series - how Candice takes the first step to her own candy shop and Moria picks up the pieces from the havoc created by Vincent.
What Is not to love about this series? You have wonderful food, mystery, and a little romance. I'd say that is a win in my book. All of these books are well written, fast paced, fun reads. I love where the author is going with the characters. Moira has found a new employee, Meg who seems to be fitting in at the deli, fingers crossed! With the new hours and Candice going out on her own soon Moira is going to have to start looking for even more help. The relationship between she and David is moving slow but I love the old fashioned charm. She notices David in a sad mood when he comes to visit at the deli. He has just found out that his long time friend, Henry has been found dead in Lake Marion. David is not convinced it was an accidental drowning like the coroner is saying. It just doesn't make sense because he took every precaution and could swim like a fish. Moira is willing to help David out and ask some questions especially since Candice is living upstairs from the toy store Henry owned. His granddaughter has been acting suspicious for weeks and Moira wants to make sure Candice is ok. What has Moira gotten herself into??? Will she and David be able to solve this case before someone else swims with the fish?
I found this to be another enjoyable book in the Darling Deli series. The story quickly draws in the read and will have the engaged with all that is happening. I enjoy watching the characters grow and develop with each new book. All the food sounds delicious and makes me hungry while I'm reading this series, I'd love to see some recipes for some of items described. I look forward to reading the next book to see what happens next!
I received a copy of this manuscript from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Disclosure: I received this book free of charge from the publisher. This review is my honest opinion, and is in no way influenced by the author or publisher.
Wow I loved this book so much. I really like how the relationship with Moira and and David is developing. Can't wait to see what happens next.
Yes there were some typos in this book. I read nearly 300 books a year and have found typos in all but 2 or 3. I always notify the author. The typos in no way made it unreadable, nor did it affect my review.
Moira and the gang are back in another wonderful story. We finally learn what happened to David's friend who wanted to sell his toy store. Moors is once again in danger from her sleuthing. The author is doing a wonderful job of keeping my attention with this series of books. Looks like things might be getting even more wonderful in future books!
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an HONEST review!
Thai Coconut Murder is the 6th book in the Darling Deli series. This is a great series and continues to get better with each book. The books in this series are a great way to spend some time reading and learning more about the town of Maple Creek and it's residents. I am enjoying seeing the characters develop and these books are the perfect length! I am looking forward to reading the next installments of this series.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Skipped over several books in this series to read this one as I already had it on my Kindle. Still following the mystery solving Deli owner and her daughter, employees and potential boyfriend and PI. Again, the food all sounds delicious and I enjoy the descriptions of the small town and running a Deli.
Again Ms. Beginning writes an excellent mystery. Plenty of twists and a curve that was not expected. This book brought a new layer to all of the characters and now it will be a waiting game until the next book comes out. Love this series and look forward to reading more
I liked the story, but there were so many editing errors. Also, how could she be happy at the end, when there was no resolution with her house? And, for her daughter to be excited about moving into her new shop? Shouldn't the toy store be closed for a while, due to it being a crime scene? Several cliffhangers in this one...

Make sure you have time to read the entire book before you sit down to read this one. Drugs, murder. Abduction, will keep you guessing if this will be the end of the road for our characters or will they live to tell another story.
Seems like the author goes into too. Such detail all the time, much like the TV news people. Most people are smarter than you think and don't need to be reminded of details constantly.
I really liked how this book read. I could not put it down.the characters introduced were done really well. Even scared me. The book flowed with some danger and some caring. A must read.
I am really enjoying this series of cozy mysteries with the deli setting. The characters are interesting and like able. On to the next book in the series!
