The author does what she says she will do in the sub-title to this book: show how the gospel writers created the concept of Jesus as the Christ. She writes about the idea of the Messiah as it relates to Jesus of Nazareth; she examines each of the four gospels and how how the concept of the Messiah is incorporated into each; and finally looks briefly at the question "What would it mean for Christianity to remove the Christ and reclaim the Teacher?" An excellent book!
