Rebecca ‘Beck’ Anderson is in Damon’s mountains for one thing: to improve public relations between shifters and humans. She has a heap of reasons the shifter rights vote has to go their way, but when she meets her driver, Mason Croy, the sexy boar shifter is adding one more. Mason is smokin’ hot, and just her type if she wasn’t reeling from a divorce that has left her drained. Even if her heart was open to moving on, Mason is dealing with things she can’t understand. Brawling publicly to escape his pain seems to be the beast boar’s go-to method of therapy, but he’s making her job as shifter publicist harder as he spirals out of control. All she needs to do is keep her head down, and work for that pretty salary Damon has promised her, but Mason is a mystery she becomes desperate to solve. He’s wrecking those walls she’s constructed around her heart one by one, but the more she gets to know him, the more she realizes Mason’s past could be the death of her.
Mason Croy has been doing a bang-up job of hiding from his past in Damon’s mountains but now it’s coming back to haunt him, and his boar is on a tear. All he wants is to be left alone to spiral, but now the beautiful publicist he’s been hired to drive around has him wishing he could be a better man. He hasn’t paired up with a mate for a reason. Not only is Beck’s interest in him dangerous for her, but she’s conjuring a destiny he just can’t escape—one that could bring destruction to all the people he cares about.
Dragons, boars, and bears, oh my! Don’t miss the thrilling fourth book of T. S. Joyce’s bestselling Boarlander Bears series.
T.S. Joyce is devoted to bringing hot shifter romances to readers. Hungry alpha males are her calling card, and the wilder the men, the more she'll make them pour their hearts out. She werebear swears there'll be no swooning heroines in her books. It takes tough-as-nails women to handle the shifters of Bear Valley.
She lives in a tiny town, outside of a tiny city, and devotes her life to writing big stories. Foodie, bear whisperer, ninja, thief of tiny bottles of awesome smelling hotel shampoo, nap connoisseur, movie fanatic, and zombie slayer, and most of this bio is true.
Bear Shifters? Check Smoldering Alpha Hotness? Double Check Sexy Scenes? Fasten up your girdles, ladies and gents, it's gonna to be a wild ride.
The h is a shifter but no-one knows, and she has a shifter child. The traumatized H is spiraling when the h claims him, and he doesn't even realise until she tells him. The h's ex does terrible things and the H's family declare war on him and his crew. It was sweet seeing the future connection between the children. Lots of drama in this wonderful story.
The only qualm I have about this book is that the boar shifters call their women sows and their kids piglets. I suppose that shouldn't be weird by now. But it is. It's weird. Can't get over it.
Give me some Razorback Hog! “Tales of power and ambition and intrigue and betrayal and desire - when you're telling those in a big way, you automatically want to go to Shakespeare.” -- Beau Willimon
Mason Croy is a real boar. No, not ‘bore’ are in boring, but Boar, as in big-ass, brutal, brawling Razorback Hog. Brought in to replace yet another bear Clinton the Beast ran off from the Boarlander Mobile Home Park, where the C-Team of the Damon’s Mountain lumberjack bears live, Mason is a badly damaged boar shifter, brawling to hide the pain he carries inside. And his brawling is causing a real problem for Rebecca ‘Beck’ Anderson who has been brought in by Damon Daye, the Last Immortal Dragon and owner of Damon’s Mountain. Beck’s job is to improve public relations between shifters and humans, her driver, Mason, isn’t making it easy. And it isn’t as if Beck’s own life is all lavender and fuzzy bunnies either. Her divorce has left her crippled, emotionally and financially, and she is determined to succeed in her job, even if it means taking on a brawling boar like Mason. Because she has a lot more to save than just herself.
The political story continues strong through Boarlander Beast Boar. But there is more than that, as Mason’s backstory is much more deadly than the Boarlanders understand. And it is moving onto Damon’s Mountain in a wave of brutality and death. This time, it isn’t only the humans who are a danger to the Shifters of Damon’s Mountain. And there may not be a “happily ever after” for Mason and Beck – or any of the shifters of the US. Of all her books set on the mountain I loved Bash’s story the best. . . But now that I have read Mason’s I have to say I love it just as much, though for much different reasons.
I have received books from T.S. Joyce in the past in exchange for a realistic review. I am not sure if I received this one for free, so I will just say that I have received books in the past in exchange for a realistic review and this one may or may not be one of those, but how I received the books has no impact on any of my reviews. If you haven't read Joyce's Damon's Mountain Series, I highly recommend you read them in order. They are so much fun, yet running parallel to the same hatreds and prejudice we see in the world today that they are more than the sum of their parts. Enjoy!
Boarlanders go family drama with the 4th book. It was nice to see Mason go from a periphery, secretive character to the lead, dredging up his past traumas and boy were they a doozy. His relationship with Beck was great, and I really enjoyed Ryder being brought into the fold; the scenes between Mason & Ryder were particularly touching and lovely.
Boarlander Beast Boar by T.S Joyce was a quick read.
Mason is the rogue boar who has serve Damon for the past decade. He has been spiraling out of control for the last few months from being haunted by his dead mate. Beck is an owl shifter who was hired by Cora to help the shifters in the mountains. She always been ashamed of her animal because her ex is a grade A jerk, but when she meets Mason everything changes.
Will they get rid of his ghosts so they can be happy??
T.S. Joyce creates characters that are fun, real, slightly broken, but heartwarming. You will laugh, cry, get angry, and then laugh until you cry. You can lose yourself in the lives of these wonderful down to earth residents of Damon's mountain! She never fails to amaze me with her ability to bring these stories to life.
T.S. Joyce has done it again. I laughed I cried and a couple of time I even wanted to scream. I got to tell ya I love being in Damon's mountain all the bear's an their mates are awesome. I love how theory are all like one big family even if they are different crews. I can't wait for book 5 hurry up April..lol
Another great read T. S. Joyce. We have been getting glimpses of Mason in these series and got to delve deeper into him with this book. It had all the emotions in this one; happiness, frustration, sadness, laughter and above all love. And a major cuteness factor in Ryder, I loved him!!!
Mason is a familiar figure to anyone who has followed these Damon’s Mountains connecting series. Damon’s friend, confident, employee and at times his frustration. Mason and Damon have always had each other’s backs… even when it was the last thing either ever wanted. Now Damon has another job for Mason, one that will give him his deepest desire, and bring about his most horrible nightmares. One woman, one little boy and a past that will endanger so many people.
Beck has a pretty amazing job to do for Damon. She can work her P R magic and let the shifters in the area show a kinder, softer side to the newly educated world at large… or she can get caught up with one handsome, sexy, full of pain shifter herself. Mason draws her, somehow she knows he is the answer to her own search, her need to protect her son from his father. There could be a life together for all three of them, yet Mason holds back. He’s hiding something, just as she is, but what Mason hides could destroy them all.
Boarlander Beast Boar will break your heart… and slowly put it back together whole. I’ve loved the glimpses we’ve had of Mason over the course of this series. He may seem like the quiet man in the background, but he is so much more. Seeing him with Beck and Ryder makes a complete picture, one that I very much wanted to end happily for them all.
Fast paced, full of danger, sexy moments and revealed secrets, this is a story that anyone following these series needs to experience first hand. Not everything is obvious until you start looking at the small details. Mason has a permanent slice of my heart now, and I believe you’ll fall for him as well.
I’d highly recommend Boarlander Beast Boar for any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader. You’ll find a compelling story. likable characters and one unique couple that will capture your heart.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
In quite a few books Mason has been around, but more in the background. He's usually come across as somewhat happy, but in this book he's so moody and at his wit's end. It's like his life is unraveling and he isn't sure what to do about it. We also learn more about life as a Boar, which I thought was interesting.
Beck was fun right away. I loved how she started to spar verbally with Mason right from the start, despite how she ended up in a mud puddle while wearing her power color. Beck's job as a publicist for Damon is much needed and she was great at the job. She had all the crews doing things that made shifters look positive.
I loved that we learned Beck was a shifter early on, but not what kind. The reveal happened in a big way and was very poignant to a conversation between her and Mason.
While Mason had his own problems, Beck had hers too. I hated that Beck wasn't alone in her issues, but that her son was dragged in and how he was dragged in. About the only good part was that Mason was there to support Beck and later Ryder. I loved how Mason was with Ryder, how he showed him that being a shifter was not bad, it was all good, even his kind of shifter. For a while there seemed to be this golden period within the crews as everyone got to know Ryder and Becks and Mason were building a home. It was great for them all.
Sadly it didn't last as Mason's past came for him and came for him in a brutal way. But this time around Mason had things he didn't want to loose in Beck and Ryder. The battle was huge, with all the crews there for support and to make sure that the fight was a fair one. Of course Mason prevailed and is now living the life he was always meant to with a mate and child.
This is the forth book in this series and they should be read in order. Mason is a longtime friend of Damon’s and right now he is helping out the Boarlanders. Things are changing everywhere for shifters. Just like Mason helped Damon by putting a potential mate in his path Damon has done the same for Mason. Mason is a boar and boars aren’t like bears. They don’t mate for life, they can take multiple mates in a life time. But, Mason is different. He had a mate once and she died he has had no interest in finding another one. He has been haunted by his mate as well. Then he meets the new publicist for the shifters on Damon’s mountain, Rebecca (Beck). Now he must face a different problem. He is dangerous for her. He wants to be a man who deserves a woman like Beck. She is everything he ever wanted. Things maybe out of their hands and danger may be on the way for those on Damon’s mountain. This book was moving. Mason has been through so much and now he has found another mate but just being with her puts her and her son in danger. He would give his life to protect her and he may have to do just that. Beck has been through a lot as well and is still going through it. She is a shifter but her ex-husband is a human. She is still reeling from her divorce. Her ex isn’t making things any easier in fact he seems to delight in making things harder on her. I really loved this book. It is definitely in my top five books of the Damon mountain series. I can’t wait to read the next book. The only bear left is Clinton and I can’t wait to read his book. Another fantastic book by T.S. Joyce.
Several books into the series now, it's interesting how separate all the different shifters are. The cultural differences between the birds, gorillas, bears, dragons, tigers, and boars are really fun to watch play out. And then there are the humans bringing their shit to the party. And even with all this conflict, the author does a great job of building community among the shifters.
A couple favorite quotes - during an argument between the two main characters,
““No, thank you. I can only handle managing one bad decision at a time. Not two.”
He leveled her with a look so intense she couldn’t hold his gaze. “Don’t you call me a bad decision, woman.””
I just found that line funny. And this is the tail end of a lecture the MMC gives to the worthless baby daddy about his son,
“He’s a badass bird of prey. You’ll just make him angry, and someday, he’s going to be a fucking warrior, fed on your endless faults.”
His desire and willingness to be this kid's dad was beautiful.
Boarlander Beast Boar is the fourth book in the Boarlander Bears series.
Mason has always been very secretive about his past. The only person he talked to much at all was his close friend Damon, who he worked with for years. He’s been spiraling out of control for months - until he sees Rebecca.
Rebecca has been hired by Damon to help promote good PR for the shifters. Damon also hired Beck with the hope of helping his friend Mason find some happiness.
This story of Mason, Beck and her young son Ryder was so sweet. Beck’s ex was a major jerk and Mason proved how fantastic he was by just stepping in and being there for Ryder. I kinda felt like maybe the ex got off too easy for what he did and I wanted to see that man suffer. You knew something big was coming, but I felt like the scene at the end didn’t have enough build up and just happened. Then it was over too quickly.
Clinton’s book is next and I can’t wait. He truly deserves someone to make him happy.
Another great story from TS Joyce! Mason and Beck. This really went where i didn’t think it would go. But it all turned out fine in the end. There was “outing” the shifters, calendar shots, hanging with other crews and an all out war with boars. Each of these two characters was great and made me love reading about them. I have more than a few highlighted passages in here.
I love the camaraderie between this crew. The teasing makes me laugh, the love and friendship makes me smile. When they welcomed Mason back to the Boarlanders it was almost tearful. You could really see how much they love him. Bash—well he brought my heart out. I love, love, LOVE all the bacon/pig jokes! They cracked me up and made me think twice this AM just as i was about to put bacon in my mouth. Don’t tell Mason....BUT i ate it. Hahahaha! We also have an intro to Air-Ryder in here which I love! I have already read his book and that crews so it is fun to see his start of a few of these kids.
I keep going back and forth between 3 and 4 stars for this. On the one hand, the action in this is really good. Lots of things going on with Beck and her ex, shifter rights, and Mason's former boar clan. I really liked Mason's backstory (even though it seemed almost too tragic for him to move on from), and Beck's as well, with her fighting with her ex over their son being a shifter.
However, this was kind of lacking on the romance side for me. I'm not sure why....maybe the Esmerelda stuff...but I just wasn't feeling the couple as much in this one.
So, I guess it just depends what you're looking for. Other books in the series have been more steamy and romance-y, but this one has a lot more going on.
One thing that did really bump this up for me was that the author didn't fall into the cliche ending
These books just keep getting better and better. I was pulled into the story of this book right from the beginning and that is where I stayed until I had read the last word written. All the while I was watching the story play out in my head, just like a little mini movie. There are surprises both big and small, some you will see coming where others you will think, wow didn't see that coming, but they all aide in making the story a fantastic read. The emotions that the characters go through within the book I went through with them at the same time, some of them, really pull on your heartstrings. I highly recommend this author and this series of book, if you are a shifter fan I don't think you will be disappointed.
Though I enjoyed the story and found it had sweet moments, it was sad on a lot of fronts. I found this one a bit slow to start with Mason being a push me pull me towards Rebecca. Loved sweet little Ryder. Having read his book when he is grown up Air Ryder and knowing how he feels, this was so sweet having Beaston introduce him to Weston and have Mason mark him as his own. Esmerelda and what happened was sad. Pity about Jamison being such a complete twit. His own family is now without him due to his need to get rid of Mason, who never planned on going back anyway. Wasn’t at all keen on Rebecca’s ex Robbie getting off so lightly, I really hope Karma bites his backside good. Read through Kindle Unlimited. Has proofreading errors that should have been picked up.
I dunno, I'm not sure about this one. In the beginning, it was the first impression of Beck, you know, wearing white dress slacks with sky high high heels to a small mountain town en route to trailer park in the woods?! Didn't exactly speak of brains or common sense even... I always liked Mason, but here it sure seemed like he was making a lot of excuses, or crutches as Damon so aptly called them. Even if it was somewhat explained later on. Still... yeah. And lastly I just couldn't buy that none of them got Essie's blatantly obvious message. I mean to anyone with half a brain it was clear from the first time she said it, so them not getting it till the very end did more to undermine their integrity/ character than it helped build drama (since we knew it was coming anyways)
I enjoyed this book probably more then others. Mason has no specific crew he belongs to but is friends with Damon and is helping out the Boarlander's crew during the logging season. As the season comes to an end Mason needs to make a choice go back and work for Damon or stay with the Boarlanders. While he is having the inner battle. He meets Beck who is adding to his inner struggle, plus the reason he's not registered yet so him Boar family won't find him.
It was a great and quick read. I had a hard time putting it down. I do recommend if you read this book start with the 1st book in this series if not the 1st book in the Ash crew series.
I had read this book after a break between others in original series so I had forgotten about Mason. He wasn’t what I expected to be. So much more. So far one of my favorites in all her books I read. His love for her son, and her was wonderful. Two small points I wasn’t fond of: his assumption that he couldn’t have children, since his 1st wife and the other grifter Boars in “rut” did not produce children. Should have had small chance of reproducing and just have her get pregnant later. Other is His 1st wife ghost was almost repeat of other storyline. Should have omitted it. He already knew with registering the clan would know and come.
Beck and Mason's story is beautiful, haunting and a PNR keeper!
Contains subject matter that may be offensive or sensitive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence.
While this story could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend that it be read in order for maximum enjoyment and to prevent spoilers.
I can't say too much or I will be the one to give away spoilers. This story has some moments that were heart-breaking and others that were uplifting. I highly recommend anything by T.S. Joyce, especially her shifter series of you are looking to get lost in another world for a couple of hours.
Feeling benevolent, dragon shifter Damon Daye decides he wants the happiness he’s feeling to be shared by his loyal friend and employee, boar shifter, Mason Croy, and moves to tackle two issue with one decision by putting shifter publicist, Rebecca ‘Beck’ Anderson in Mason’s path.
Mason’s been keeping his misery close to his chest as memories of his late mate still rule him. As a single mom with an anti-shifter ex, Beck’s had plenty of drama to fill her days and nights. Some similarities to previous outings and unique issues for this couple battling to become a family pepper the read. Rating: 4stars
"He wasn't wishing for death anymore. Now, he had so much to survive for. So much to defend."
I was excited for Mason's story and really enjoyed it. I was expecting for it to be so emotional but that ending crushed me for a moment. Mason and Beck were opposite in shifter form but inside the both had heavy baggage and could relate to each other. A fantastic addition to the shifter series 4/5⭐
"this feeling -- this chest fluttering, stomach - dipping, happy sensation -- hadn't existed before he'd breathed life into her"
I cried multiple times in this book. It was amazing. One of my all time TS Joyce Favorites and I've read a ton of her books. I have to say between Boarlander's and Kane's series I can't decide who I love more. I Also loved Harpers and well... Everything else... lol. So I guess I can't really choose a fave series. They're all amazing shifter romances in Damon's Mountains. Mason is so... SWOOON worthy. And his mate... Perfection! She's one of my fave females.
