Forgiven is the third book in the Forgotten Series, and readers finally get Dante and Kelly’s story. After finally giving into her desire for Dante, Kelly has to deal with his harsh rejection, and I am not exaggerating when I say HARSH!!!! His hurtful behavior toward her is nothing new for her. Life has constantly knocked Kelly down, but she always gets back up, and this is no exception. She has to keep living for her son, Ethan. She hides her hurt from Dante every time she sees him which is a good bit since they share the same friends. However, she has no idea the true reason Dante has hurt her. He’s running as hard as he can from the feelings he has for her. Eventually, he decides to stop running and try to win Kelly back and prove he is worthy of her and Ethan. Things are going well when all the friends go on a mini holiday together. However, secrets from their pasts not only threaten their future happiness but their very lives.
I enjoyed the mystery, intrigue, and romance of the book. I really connected with Dante and Kelly. I could empathize with both of them. They both haven’t had the best past, and they will face many tests to overcome their trust issues. I loved the banter between them; it just heightened the sexual chemistry between them. The sex was HOT! How could it not be with Dante? I have to say my favorite aspect of the story is Kelly’s struggle within herself. Her friends have forgiven her for her part in some of the painful pasts, but she can’t seem to forgive herself. I loved seeing her grow and able to work toward that forgiveness. The book isn’t just about the love between a couple but the love and loyalty between friends who make their own family with each other.
Forgiven was a quick, easy read, and I thought it was a good addition to the series. If you like a bad-mouthed, sexy alpha male and a stubborn, strong, and feisty heroine with some suspense mixed in, then this is the perfect book for you.
