Dark Desires #2

Deliverance

Rate this book
The Impaler - a title that inspired both fear and awe depending on who you asked.

A title that Vladimir had exploited in order to survive.
A title that made men heel.
And now, a title that was used mockingly by the man who had taken Valerie.

Valerie was well aware of The Impaler - the 15th century legend of Vlad Tepes III. What it had to do with her was still a mystery as she dutifully complied to the demands of her captor. She knew that something was off in their relationship, but she had never imagined that she would be collateral damage.

Can the overwhelming feelings she has for Vladimir overcome the peril that lies in the hands of a man that wants more than just a simple exchange?

Author This book contains sexually explicit scenes and violence. It is intended for mature audiences only (18+ advised).

Kourtney King is an author that draws inspiration from the tragedies of reality to give life to her romances, basing them on real-life events.

Her constant musings of passers-by - the corporate lawyer drawing up yet another contract, the college student waiting for a bus and even the elderly sitting in a park who has lived through the history we read about - are her inspiration once she sits down to write. Ms King's stories are woven into sensitive subjects that she is passionate about and she thoroughly researches to portray a sense of realism in her fiction.

Through her writing, Kourtney hopes to provoke thought, strike a debate and challenge you to question your beliefs about the world and the people living in it.

Quite simply, this is an amazing piece of work.

The second installment of this trilogy was thoroughly enjoyable.

It had me on my toes, with the feeling of the edge of your seat coursing through my veins.

The storyline is so enthralling and amazing, I can't even express it fully.

Having invested so much time in this series, I am excited to see what Part 3 will bring.

A must-read book. I highly recommend it.

My Reaction To Reading This Book!!
**(Inwardly Screaming)**

This is my first time giving a low rating... And I'm sorry but I gotta do it.. I'm puzzled by all the positive reviews... But this book right here really pissed me off! And I'm upset that I wasted my time reading it... Not sure if I want to even attempt to read 3rd book... This book was just so far fetched (with the kidnapping scene) And the ending down right ridiculous... Seriously?! *Scratching my head*

• So many "questions" were left unanswered.

• My pet peeve - I hate when these alpha males (are viewed as sadistic, scary, or ruthless) but they see a beautiful woman and it's like instant love, cartwheels and unicorns (and do a total 180') Hell No! You continued being the sadistic bastard, I know you can be, damn-it!!

• Keyaan (The Sheikh) - suppose to be this insane sociopath... That everyone was terrified of but he was a total softie to Valerie.. WTF! Even falls for her!

• Vladimir - Omg! The way he acted at the end of the book.

• Valerie - Every guy that came into contact with her INSTANT LOVE. She was kidnapped but was treated like a princess!! I just can't!

• Gaby - who the hell Is she??

I'm not even sure where to begin with this one. In the last installment I fell in love with the characters so much, and this one broke my heart. Vlad is besides himself searching for Val, and you can feel his pain and anguish. Now Val, that girl has some inner strength to take what life has given her. Her captor is a king in his world and he is used to getting what he wants. But, he has no idea what The Impaler can do to him. Will his lust be his downfall, or will he get what he wants?? There is a lot going on in this book and I don't want to give anything away.

So if you loved the first one, make sure you grab this cause sh** is about to get real. Oh and I love how Kourtney uses real life situations going on in this world. Educate yourselves, cause we only have one world and if we don't take care of it, there will be nothing left for us.

Now May needs to get here, so I can find out what happens.

I am shock beyond words.

Ms. King
Did you really just did that to us? I can’t believe you. I don’t know what to say, I am beyond piss. How can you break my heart like this? First, the sheik scene was horrible, it lasted way too long. I was on edge the whole time hoping what happened won’t. I don’t want to give too much away. I just so mad that I have to wait until May (I think it said) to know what will happen. Secondly, what happened to the communication between Val & Vald. I had issues with the sex scene with them when they came back, I wished it never happened. Lastly, once again you got me. I love the flash scenes Vald had of Val just loved it. I will be reading when the next one come out. I’m dedicated fan from now on and will continue to check on any news/books.
Thank you.

4 Stars!

This is a new author and her second book to her new series and I think she's doing a phenomenal job! Her writing is in third person with multiple POV's, her MC's will have you rooting for them and their chemistry is off the charts, the additional characters keep you entertained and wanting to learn more about them. Also, this author has a way of sharing information on worldly happenings that will make think.. Hmmmm...

All in all, this was fast pace and enjoyable with some action and sexy scenes. More so from the past between the two MC's. I cannot wait to read the third installment!

So Valerie and Vald's story continues she has been kidnapped and Vald is being held to ransom if he wants to get her back.

The whole book is dedicated to the kidnapping and how Val is being treated by the kidnapper. The kidnapper starts having feelings towards Va,l as she reminds him of another woman who is apparently not in his life any more. There is a rape scene in this book, so readers be warned. In the meantime Vald is beside himself trying to locate her.

This was my least favourite book in the series because I think the author spent too much time on the kidnapping, it took too long for Val to be rescued.

On to book 3 for the ending.

3.5 stars Val is kidnapped to compel Vlad to do a job and as he decides to do the job to save her life. She is compelled to spend a few weeks with her kidnapper a sadistic freak who starts to have feelings for her which eventually lead to his violating her on the day she is rescued and while she is traumatized by the ordeal she is more horrified because she climaxed during the ordeal. Vlad feels so guilty because of what happened to her and he blames himself. He realizes he cannot stay with her.

I put off reading this because of the kidnapping of Valerie and all she had to endure. There were flashback scenes with Val and Glad that made it easier. Did not know the story would be continued

Whoa!

This was a good story. I can't believe how long she had to wait. The sheikh is a lunatic. This had the drama, action, and steam.

Hummmm....

Although I have put this as a 5star, this was a little bit too much. At least we should have Valerie still untainted physically but tainted emotionally. Also should have at least explained more who was Ayana?
But over all, first time reading this author it's a wow for me

Kidnapped

This book was intriguing. Valerie was kidnapped and held as a bargaining chip in Saudi Arabia. Vlad will not take this lying down would stop at anything to get Valerie back. He blames himself for getting Valerie into this situation. Valerie tries to have hope that Vlad will come for her. An unpleasant event happens and Valerie is not the same. Looking forward to book 3.

Umm no

Ok what the what... Vlad has decided to leaving the arm dealing business and start a new life with Val. Val is kidnapped held captive Vlad moves Haven and earth to get her back. OK fine I'm there with you what the book didn't need was all the side stories. You basically have Val fall for her the person responsible for holding you hostage because he brought you books and talked to you. Than at the last moment Val remember oh wait Vlad. Spoiler...you have Val raped which by the way you see coming three chapters in. But the problem is there are too many unanswered questioned at the end that will never be answered. What happened to the sheik first love? Why did Gaby change her mind about the sheik? Why did Moe help rescue her but not stop the rape? You see how much Vlad loves Val but you also see how easy Val can be swayed by others. She has not faith in their love of each other no mater what he did before the kidnapping. Not sure if I want to read book three to see if they get their HEA

This book was pretty good. I don't like that Val and Vlad are blaming themselves for what Keyaan did. They need to talk and work it out. Vlad needs to stay right where he is, which is with Val. Andrei needs a woman. It would be great if it was Gabriella, but I guess that is pretty far fetched seeing as he has never got a chance to meet her. Hey, wait a minute, maybe Macy would be good for him. Anyway, good job, Ms. King.

Pulse Pounding

This was good suspense from the start and you get to see another side of both the h/ h.This story gives you a more human look at when things happen beyond your control. There were a few typos but did not take from the story.I hope that we get to see not only Val's friends but Vladimir's brothers as well. This was an intense follow-up to a good series.

Very good

It gets better and better. Vlad proved he will do anything to get his woman back. Poor Val blames herself for her body giving in to what happened.
