Grea (pronounced Gray) Alexander is a female writer of African American, Native American and Caucasian...American descent who does not write her profiles in the 3rd person.

Born and raised in Houston, TX, I have successfully wormed my way across many a border and have, in effect, managed to infect all that I survey with my particular brand of grea-ness. My books are very character-driven with a focus on flawed, dynamic, culturally-diverse characters and strong, smart female protagonists.

----

Also, please note: I do not write children's books. My books are for adults. My books contain adult themes, adult situations, sexual situations, cursing, intoxication and violence. Some books have more than others. Some characters engage more than others. If you find such offensive, you might not want to read my work. Then again, you just might feel naughty and want to read them anyway. (wink)

Q: How do you pronounce Grea?

Like the color gray. Or as an admirer once pointed out, like great without the t. (grin)

Q: Why the name SeaMonkey Ink?

Why not? (grin) What's not to love? I mean it's Ink squirting out of a Seamonkey. I mean sure no one has ever witnessed such a phenomenon, but that doesn't mean it couldn't happen. (laugh)

Seriously, when I was in school (high school and beyond) I used to play pranks under various code names - one of which was Seamonkey. I also have always enjoyed writing and back when I started to do so, I used to write everything by hand (which requires either lead or Ink) even long after I got my first word processor and computer. After I finally started typing directly, it still took ink to print.

Hence SeaMonkey Ink.

Q: Have you ever actually owned Seamonkeys?

Actually, I have and I'm pretty well convinced that there is a wanted poster with my name and likeness up somewhere in the SIA (Seamonkey Intelligence Agency) headquarters for mass genocide. (laugh) I try but I fail.

Q: Are any of your characters based on people you know/knew in real life?

Not really. Most are composites. However, I will say that more than a little of my own personality/thoughts/expressions pop up in my stories and among my characters.

For instance, in Rebellion Book I: Book of Quay, Phong Quay makes a statement that one day he is changing his name and not telling anyone what he changed it to. I've said that to people since I was like 5 - particularly when I get agitated at being disturbed.

So, if any real life person is used as a template for some of my dialogue and character behaviors it would be myself.

I initially read these books individually so this review will reflect that.

Rebellion Book I: Book of Quay

I won this eBook from LibraryThing Members Giveaway. This book was so good that I didn't want it to finish. Intriguing, it held my attention till the last page. The twisted fates of Soung and Quay feed a storyline filled with betrayal, lies, jealousy, misunderstanding and above all the realization of a destiny of true love. I think Grea Alexander is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. Looking forward to Book II.

Rebellion Book II: Book of Soung

OMG! this just keeps getting better and better. The plot twists and thickens. Life gets more complicated for Quay and Soung just when happiness seems to have found a place in their lives. And this happens over and over and over again. Life just isn't fair or easy for them and unfortunately, their two biggest weaknesses i.e their love and their mistrust for each other keeps getting in the way and keeps them apart. On a personal note I kept checking the progress bar on my e-reader hoping that the book wasn't ending yet, but eventually, it did. BOO HOO! Oh, Grea! I hope Book III: Book of Choi has happy endings for some of the (not so good) the good guys. And may the BAD GUYS all rot in hell! Now I wait.........

Rebellion Book III: Book of Choi
I've been waiting a long time for this book to come out and now that it finally is I'm speechless!

All the secrets and lies uncovered, the truth exposed and memories returned. Conspiracy upon conspiracy fueled by jealousy, hatred, and betrayal. Quay and Soung right in the middle, being forced to play their parts by the puppet-masters of their fates before they are able to take the reins into their own hands.

I am glad that their story has come to some sort of a happy conclusion but it has definitely not ended. Seems like a whole new can of worms is about to be opened up. Looking forward to Sedition: Book of Xian. This is one excellent adventure of an Omnibus

Rebellion Book I Book of Quay by Grea Alexander REBELLION BOOK I: QUAY

This is book 1 in a 3 book series. This first book - Book of Quay is so entitled because in this book it is Quay who knows the most about what is going on (although he is not the most forthcoming). He struggles the most throughout because unlike Soung he understands more fully everyone's motivations and the real, deeper implications of her being back in his life. He is the one who is struggling the most with the emotional and psychological damage from their shared past as well as how it has colored their present. Soung, while having inklings, has yet to fully grasp the full picture.

In book II - Book of Soung, it is Soung who is keeping Quay in the dark. Most of what happens is happening to her while Quay is the one trying to put the pieces together. At the same time, Soung begins to more fully grasp that which Quay has known all along. She learns more of who he truly is and who they have been to each other.

Book III - Book of Choi, is the final book. In it, everything is revealed about both Quay and Soung - everything that led up to them becoming Cat and Qin, everything that led up to the Emperor's obsession with Quay, everything that led up to the initial betrayal which pulled them apart and the aftermath of that betrayal. In short, everything that landed them where they started in Book I.

Rebellion Book II Book of Soung by Grea Alexander REBELLION BOOK II: SOUNG

In book II - Book of Soung, we get to see into Quay and Soung's struggle with the decisions they made during Book I. Quay has made a lot of enemies in the past and continues to do so even now. As he continues down this path - letting his arrogance and emotions get the best of him, we see his enemies become more and more motivated to destroy him. We see his enemies begin to unite and plot against him.

All is fair in love and war they say. Even family is not off limits. As the situation intensifies between Quay and his foes, we have the inevitable confrontations between Quay and the Emperor as well as more and more people from the past starting to surface/resurface. The true nature of their relationships start to become more apparent as does their motivations.

More is revealed about Qin and his relationship to Soung as well when finally the two meet. Slowly, her memory starts to return although there are still missing pieces. Slowly, she begins to understand the true nature of her father as well including his motivations for using her to get to Quay as well as his future intentions.

In this book, it is Soung who is keeping Quay in the dark. Most of what happens is happening to her while Quay is the one trying to put the pieces together. At the same time, Soung begins to more fully grasp that which Quay has known all along. She learns more of who he truly is and who they have been to each other.

Rebellion Book III Book of Choi by Grea Alexander REBELLION BOOK III: CHOI

Book III - Book of Choi, is the final book in the Rebellion series. In it, everything is revealed about both Quay and Soung - everything that led up to them becoming Cat and Qin, everything that led up to the Emperor's obsession with Quay, everything that led up to the initial betrayal which pulled them apart and the aftermath of that betrayal. In short, everything that landed them where they started in Book I - that made them who they were at the time.

All of the mysteries will be solved and loose ends tied up..for now. Duh. Duh. Duh.

In addition to wrapping up the past, readers will get to see what is going on in the present as the Chois struggle to put everything to right and crush their enemies. Everything that has been building up from not only the past but during the events in the previous two books comes to a head.

The groundwork is also continued for the next book series which primarily focuses on the Choi children - Sedition.
