Meet Tiffany “Baby Girl” Scott, a young woman who has been through it all, from being lied to, manipulated, as well as verbally and physically abused— all at the hands of the one person who was supposed to protect her. Camil had pure evil and jealousy in her heart towards her only daughter. Now at eighteen, can Tiffany overcome all her childhood horrors and open herself up to love and to be loved, or is she just too damaged to ever find true happiness and success?
Blake Karrington is more than an author. He’s a storyteller who places his readers in action-filled moments. It’s in these creative spaces that readers are allowed to get to know his complex characters as if they’re really alive.
Most of Blake’s titles are in the South in urban settings that are often overlooked by the mainstream. But through Blake’s eyes, readers quickly learn that places like Charlotte, NC can be as gritty as they come. It’s in these streets of this oft overlooked world where Blake portrays murderers and thieves alike as believable characters. Without judgement, he weaves humanizing backstories that serve up compelling reasons for why a drug dealer might choose a life of crime.
Readers of speak of the roller coaster ride of emotions that ensues from feeling anger at empathetic characters who always seem to do the wrong thing at the right to keep the story moving forward.
In terms of setting,Blake’s stories introduce his readers to spaces they may or may not be used to - streetscapes with unkept, cracked sidewalks where poverty prevails, times are depressed and people are broke and desperate. In Blake storytelling space, morality is so curved that rooting for bad guys to get away with murder can sometimes seem like the right thing for the reader to do - even when it’s not.
Readers who connect with Blake find him to be relatable. Likening him to a bad-boy gone good, they see a storyteller who writes as if he’s lived in world’s he generously shares, readily conveying his message that humanity is everywhere, especially in the unlikely, mean streets of cities like Charlotte.
Ehhhhh it was okay, not my favorite by this author. I didn't like it bc of how the stories switched. Now I understand that in a 3rd person pov the story is going to switch between the different characters and what they're doing, but the passages from each character set were too short. Before I could even get in the story to connect any type of dots or get an understanding of what was going on it switched! And I understand suspense but that type of suspense was frustrating and made me quit reading. Add to that the writing was a bit dull/lackluster. It felt like I was reading a summary of events instead of being immersed in a story. Again, not at all what I'm used to from the author. It could just be me though, so check it out for yourself
This is like the second book I've read by Blake Karrington and I can see plenty more in my future. My heart hurt for Tiffany. All her life her mother blamed her for something she had no part in. Camil abused her physically, mentally and verbally. No child deserved that from their parent especially their mother. Hassan was a ruthless person and have done alot of things in his life but I really believe if he knew about Tiffany he would have been in her life. I hate she had to find out the truth after she made her choice but I hope that everything works out and her and Hassan gets to bond as father and daughter. Can't wait till part two.💓💓
Blake Karrington and his novel “Tears In The Trap” might be the best accidental author & literary dual discovery of 2023!👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿‼️That was beyond exhilarating 🤩🤯! Tears In TheTrap could easily be a BET/Netflix/Prime Video feature flix. …The character & plot development both were incredible. Thereafter, this book had me on edge from the prologue to the epilogue. Honestly, I thought a different antagonist/deuteragonist violated Camil. Nonetheless, I can’t wait drive into book 2, to see how (if 🤦🏾♀️🤔) the continuation of this hot urban pharmaceutical drama Mr Johnson, SK, Tiffany & all the crew. …Lots of unanswered questions ⁉️
Now this book is a must read. So many plot twists, whew I was on the edge. Its so many Camil's out here ruining people lives. I feel so bad for Tiffany because she was dealt a cruel hand. She seems so sincere with Nasir. Book 2 me please ASAP!!! Keep up the awesome work!!!
I'm just gone say the Blame falls all on Camil she lied about everything and took it out on Tiffany , Tiffany not knowing the truth tried to kill Hassan because of the shitty life her mammy dished her out but I'm tell you this Camil & Sk got to go and the truth needs to be exposed!
Intriguing and captivating from the start! I figured there was a twist to Camil's so called rape...smh. I actually thought Chuck did it. I was glad to find out Nasir was Hassan's stepchild. I hope he has a chance to redeem himself; especially to Tiffany. Anxiously waiting for part 2!!
Wasn’t expecting that ending! Lies, lies and more lies. Camil caused so much turmoil in poor Tiffany’s life and had her hating people for no reason. Camil and SK both need to be dealt with accordingly. Blake Karrington took us on a whirlwind ride with this well written book. I can’t wait to see how this ends.
The twists and turns. I finished this book so fast and quickly went to book 2 because WHET?????? lol This is my first book by Blake Karrington and now I am going to take a good look through his catalog. Camille is worthless as a mother. Nasir is clueless and Hassan is about to find out. I enjoyed this book fully!
Tiffany is something else. Her mother..... chilllllleee she can eat dirt of the floor and I still wouldn’t feel bad for her. Hassan blah..lol... I’m needing part 2
I’ve always enjoyed every book by this author and this one is no exception. The main character Tiffany is a strong individual that has endure so much in her short life and made a change a big one. Can’t wait for part two.
I felt he wasn't dead!!! I have got to see how this plays out. I bet the Feds gonna be on her. She just had to have it all, greed spoils the game. Will Nasir still want her when he finds out? Waiting on part 2.
I need book two ASAP please. I need it NEOW. Another great read from beginning to end. I hope Tiffany gets her mother back for lying to her well it was her grandparents but dayyne.
Awesome storyline. Camil was a con. Tiffany should have been smarter dealing with her. No one seems disappointed with results of what happened to Mason. About to read book2.
What a dope book. Blake Karrington you have not let me down once again. When I tell you this book is good. I was sad, Happy, excited and scared at different times in the story for Tiffany. Ok part 2 please and thank you 😊
All I can say this had me on a emotional rollercoaster. There was so much going on in this book everything I love mystery love sex and other things. Must read….
I love this story and what a roll coast. My motions was all over the place thinking how evil Camil was to her child. Tiffiney ended up being the badiest baby girl around.
Baby when I say,"Hello!" That is exactly what I mean! This book is underrated. I'm on pins and needles to read the next saga of this story! Can't wait, to start right now! I'll be back yall..
WTF!! We all know Camil has been the one to kill in this book. This girl went out of her way to kill somebody who she didn't know nor did she listen to his side of the story.
Mr. Blake Karrington has done it yet again!!!! He took a story that we see many times and managed to add his own twist and flavor to it refreshing it to seem as if this is the first time that we've seen these type of events unfold. Tiffany was just a little girl lost who was dealt a bad hand. She was shackled with a mother who would arguably win 1st prize for being one of the worst mothers in the history of mothers. She had so many odds stacked against her and yet she had enough determination, perseverance, and revenge to cause her to press forward and continue to carve out her place in this world. In many ways, I could relate to Tiffany. The longing that she had to have her mother Camil show her an ounce of love was ever present even when she knew in her heart of hearts that there was no changing her. Nasir was good for her. He allowed her to see herself as the beautiful woman that she really was. Jayden and Tiffany had a relationship that went beyond the typical and cliche' statement of "BFF". They had each other's backs without question and were willing to do ANYTHING to ensure that they were both okay. Camil was a nasty piece of work is all that I will say. As a mother, I just have a very difficult time understanding women who blame their failures on children who didn't ask to come here. I really can't wait to see what that lady named Karma has in store for this one because trust and believe me she is going to need to pull out a whole host of tricks to pay Camil back for old and new. Hassan was typical of many street dudes. He had the swag and the boss mentality but the mistakes of his youth (as is true for anyone) came back to haunt him and literally bit him in the behind. I really hope that we get the opportunity to see a different side to him in the next installment. Overall this was a dynamic read that kept you turning the pages until you got to the very end. What can one say about an ingenue like Mr. Karrington? Each and everytime he decides to bless us mere mortals with the jewels that his creative mind conjures up we are richly rewarded with an outcome that leaves us salivating for more!!!! Kudos Mr. Karrington! You gave us Tears in the Trap but you left us joyous that we were given the opportunity to ride with a true legend!!!!
Well I really enjoyed this book. However I felt that it took way longer to get to the good part of the book. The characters were relatable and realistic. I felt that the storyline could have went a million ways ,but I was not ready for how this part ended. The suspense of why Camil lie about being raped is mind-boggling. I'm ready to see how the rest of the story squirts unfold with so many secrets still kept.
This book was EVERYTHING!! Hassan is seriously that dude. Chuck was that dude although he was confused. Tiffany should've gotten a more clearer understanding. But, I like her. Nasir is prince charming. Rex & Jayden are snakes. Camil & Porsha needs what's coming to them. SK I don't know what to say. But, I'm ready for part 2.
Omg! I need part 2 right now. So many twists in this book had me addicted. Tiffany's ratchet mama makes me wanna whoop her a$#. I can't wait to find out what happens. Y'all gotta read this!
What a Mother, this woman has lied from the very beginning. She hated her own daughter and lied about how she got her. What a botch. But glad he's not dead, and maybe they can be a family.
Wow! Just when you think it's done and you know, something else comes along. This was really good. I can't wait to read part 2. Blake Karrington has his own style. His books will have you wanting more like I'm feeling right now. Come on part 2!
This book keep me on the edge of my seat! I can't was it to see what happens in book 2 between Tiffany and Hassan. Not to mention what's going to happen when SK finds out what's really going on and who Tiffany really is. This book is a must read!
