To rescue her daughter from a killer, one mother has to play his deadly game.
A child predator known as the Snatcher is presumed at-large throughout South Florida. To some, he’s a ghost. To others, he’s evil incarnate. To Sergeant Miriam Castillo, he’s the monster who kidnapped her daughter, Ana, leaving behind a horrifying crime scene. With Ana’s life hanging in the balance, Miriam enters a nightmarish world to face a remorseless villain who has terrorized her community for far too long. But the Snatcher will also have to contend with the wrath of a woman with nothing to lose. Hell hath no fury like a mother scorned.
In this mystery thriller, best-selling author Roger Hayden embarks on a terrifying journey through the darkest recesses of the human mind with “Abducted,” a bold new suspense series certain to have readers locking their doors at night.
I enjoyed this story to a point. I like the characters and the twists and turns are good, but ............. I hate books that stop in the middle of the story. You then have to buy the next one. That one also stops in the middle. There was 108 pages in "book" one. In "book" two 121. Why not make it one whole book and include "book" three. Then it would become one good book that is hard to put down.
I usually try not to be too critical, but this time there were just a few too many times when words were switched around in the wrong order, or there were two or three verbs in a row, as if the author were trying to decide which one to choose, but forgot to delete the extra two. Once she was in a bathroom stall and wrote an address on her hand, but when she looked at it again, it was on toilet paper. Needs to be edited more carefully. But my pet peeve is cliffhangers, and this is one.
After reading the first free book from this author, but this one ends with cliffhanger too. In the first book she was definitely divorced, in this book kept going back and forth separated. Hope the next one isn't going to end with cliffhanger ending.
It continued from where it stopped in its first novel in the series and ended with an incomplete finish to the story which again is going to be in its final installment.
The plot is not much different from an average kidnapping mystery, there's is a fighting mother whose daughter is kidnapped, the mother does everything to catch the kidnapper who also happens to be the number one criminal in the county. The kidnapper keeps contacting the mother and puts certain conditions and starts playing with her, this ensues a cat and mouse chase which involves all the personnel from law enforcement and in the end the daughter is found but the kidnapper gets away.
Having said that, it was a good read on a holiday to keep you from getting asleep for most part of the day.

I have now finished Roger Hayden's book, The Abducted: A Race Against Time - Book 1. The first in the series, The Abducted: The Beginning was very good and this one, if possible was even better. From start to finish I was there. And an ending that I didn't see coming. Now I have to start book 2 to find out what's next. Again, I am well pleased with author Roger Hayden. Thanks for keeping me doing my job. And that would be reading the works that you place in front of me. In my humble opinion, job well done.
The story line is great, the editing is not. Little things that just don't work such as ages of children changing and using wrong names. I understand he is an Indy author, but there's no excuse for most of the mistakes I noticed. Like I said, the story line was great, hence the three stars. I just couldn't get over the errors to continue to the next series.
As other reviewers have said, this is a good story. What keeps it from being great are the editing errors. Plenty of action. Plenty of police procedure. Lots of shooting. Also odd sentences, misplaced words and cut-and-pasting without the paste. I’ll finish the 3 book series but won’t read the next 3.
The Abducted: A Riveting Kidnapping Mystery by Roger Hayden is a wonderful story to read. This is book number one in this wonderful start to a brand new series that I have loved reading. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about suspense, thrillers and mysteries.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Even more exciting than the first book (must read in sequence, by the way). This time our main character gets even more closely involved with her nemesis.. will she ever catch him, even with FBI help??
Something that really threw this story for me was a former police sergeant not understanding how AMBER alerts work. Freaking out that the news had her daughter's picture and information when an AMBER had been issued made no sense whatsoever.

As a continuation of the Abducted series, the storyline became less realistic, and the characters more stereotypical. The editing, both geographical and grammatically, was still lacking, but the action retained the series ' frenetic pace.
This book sucks you in from the first page. The main characters are real enough to feel what they are feeling. The action never stops. I was not able to stop reading until I finished this book. I cannot wait to start 2nd installment after bathroom break,
Awesome read fast paced and lots of action and wow what a tear jerker. Love the storyline and the interaction between the characters are fabulous very entertaining read
Could not put this book down. Took me a few days because I was doing other things. But abducted makes you feel like you are part of the story and wanting to help find the missing kids.
Without ruining this for anyone that hasn't yet read The Abducted: The Beginning, Roger Haden has managed to start this second book with almost enough information to keep you from being lost. Still I would recommend you hold off and read that first book, which will make this one even better. Fast paced and full of action ex police Sgt Castillo is still on the case of a serial child predator, and it couldn't get any more personal. Mr Hayden's writing style is clear and concise, you can almost see the characters in your mind and feel their emotions. The only downside I can see is waiting for the next book in this series. Mystery Thriller lovers should enjoy this unsavory tale. I know I did.
The protagonist is unlikeable and self-absorbed. Other than that and the fact that the story's been broken up into several small volumes, the writing is right and flows. Horrific violence abounds.
This book continues the story from Book 0 from the perspective of The Snatcher. It is quite a good story but not much character definition and too much description. I found myself speed reading to get to th end and when I did I found it wasn't the end because the story continued in Book 2. I am not a fan of books that are published as books but are actually one book split into, in this case, three. I have downloaded the next book to see what happens.
Book one is as awesome as the first novella in this series. Finding where the kidnapped girls were has set the killer to seek revenge on Miriam and her family. What follows is the quest of retired cop Miriam Castillo to find her daughter and bring the twisted killer to justice. The author does a superb job of detailing the desperation and depravity that humans are capable of.
Totally did it again. And yes as I have said before I must move on to the next one. This is my biggest problem when I find a great series is pacing myself. Will I read faster than he can write or will I be able to back off before running out of books from him & have to go on a search again?
Really could not put it down! Started with the prequel at four this morning and now have finished the second in the series. Two books in five hours equals good reading to me!
Couldn't put this one down. I don't like the ending.......I like resolution or an ending....almost too intense. Made my heart race and is scary beyond belief.
Children disappearing, criminals being arrested and released, internal dynamics of multiple police agencies trying to solve the same crimes and catch the same bad guys, a little bit of everything to make an exciting crime novel.
