Julia is living the dream as lead singer for the Rebels. With thousands of adoring fans, a label anxious to ramp up production, and an only-in-Hollywood PR relationship with Trent, Julia’s life is the epitome of perfection – on the surface. But behind that façade, things aren’t what they appear.
Adam, Julia’s best friend and bandmate, would do anything for her. He is the keeper of her secrets, her confidante, the one she leans on when times get tough, but now she wonders if maybe the bond they share has crossed the line.
As Adam’s feelings for her grow, Julia finds herself grappling with misguided beliefs about love and life taught to her by her often cruel mother. Will her fear of not only falling in love but being in love ruin any hope of her having all that she truly deserves in life? Can Adam break down the walls that surround her heart and help her heal before Julia ruins everything, including her career?

The Rebels are an up and coming rock band. Relationships between the 4 members are played out in this intriguing story. Jules the lead singer gets into some disturbing and destructive behaviour and Adam tries to be who she turns to when things go wrong. Good story but I didn't like that we don't get much on Tish till the last chapter. Michaels the last member of the group just comes off bad. Hopefully the next book focuses on Tish and Michael.

Julia is the lead singer for the band Rebels, Adam is the lead guitarist her long time best friend. Julia childhood included a mentally abusive mother and she does not know how to relate to men except for one night stands. Adam loves her and tries to help her overcome this. I personally found the story too sad with elements of Julia being unfaithful and fighting a connection with the man who has always loved her. The couple does come together at the end.

T.S. Sharp's 'Rocked' follows the tour of a punk rock band known as 'The Rebels,' and gives us insight on how some of them think. Roll call: Julia, Adam, Michael, Tish, and Lydia. They face a number of challenges; from the disgustingly self-serving efforts of a greasy snake "marketing genius" named Paul, who seriously pissed me off, to the inward feelings of the main band members.

First of all, aside from the fact that everybody literally sounds and talks the same--like the Borg, united--with a few differences and quirks here and there, the characters are great. They felt most real when I was reading their inner thoughts. Chapters are written in the first-person perspectives of selected characters (which are helpfully noted at the beginning of each chapter). Some of the realness seemed to leave them when they actually spoke to each other sometimes, especially when they were discussing settlements or agreeing on something, because their speech patterns and language all 'sounded' the same in my head. When they'd argue or express actual emotion, they were easier to identify with and differentiate, at least.

It's nice to see a strong female lead, and despite the standard love triangle elements , I was relieved when that whole subplot didn't leave me cringing myself into a seizure. It was well-handled despite its one glaring flaw, and Julia was a respectable leading lady. She was strong, yet flawed, and I thought that her darker sides were explored well.

Adam, on the other hand, while a decent character by himself, was kind of annoying sometimes. Somehow I found him less relatable than Julia despite finding a lot more familiarity (on a personal level) in his own issues than Julia's. He seemed way too insistent in getting his own way despite knowing the issues that would arise if he was to get his own way, and he never really learns in the end. Still, as a love interest, he's pretty decent, and he obviously means well. He's not often a character I can easily dislike, but there was the odd occasion. Like all the characters in the story, though, Adam's got some glaring flaws that put his humanity on full display, and I guess his flaws just stuck out at me more than the rest.

Now, aside from the more robotic portions of the dialogue, my only other problem with this novel is in the writing. Nothing serious, just a few typos and sentences that run on a bit too long, but the editing wasn't really a distraction. It's still more than serviceable and keeps the story going at a good pace.

In the end, 'Rocked' is a satisfying read with great characters, a good plot, and relatable conflicts both emotional and ethical. If there was ever a sequel, I'd gladly read it.

Rocked is the debut novel by T.S. Sharp.

The Rebels started out as a high school band that have been together for seven years and are on the brink of making it big. They are made up of four band members who all feature throughout the story - Julia’s friend Tish the drummer, Michael the bass player and lead guitarist Adam.

Julia is struggling with her demons and her tragic past. She hides behind a tough exterior and a string of meaningless one-night stands. She refuses to write a love song because she has never felt love and doesn’t believe in it.

Adam’s feelings are changing for Julia from friendship to something more. Adam is a sweet guy, who looks out for Julia and tries to save her from herself and although she constantly pushes him away, he slowly starts to break down her defences.

Although Julia is abrasive at times throughout the novel and she makes some big mistakes, underneath you get a glimpse of her vulnerability and the growth she undergoes throughout the story.

Told in dual POV’s between Julia and Adam, Rocked: A Rebel’s Band Novel is a fast paced gritty and at times angsty story.

Rock bands, and rock stars. This is the life of female lead, you always hear about male lead rock bands and how they act behind the scenes, drugs, sex, partying, drinking… Watch as it switches. The protagonist, Jules, doesn’t turn to drugs to escape and de-stress, she’s too smart for that. She turns to sex instead… meaningless sometimes pleasurable sex. Blunt and straightforward, no sugar coating, T.S writes about her wild encounters one after the other minus the small talk. Always on the hunt, always needing control over men, she realizes she has a problem. Coming from a dark past, betrayed by her mom, her only blood family, she has some unfinished business to sort out. The band pressures her to write love songs, but she doesn’t know what love is. The family ties between the band members is ever changing. I love the strong female protagonist, and T.S’ writing style. Excellent.

Julia is the female lead of the Rebel's, a wildly popular rock 'n' roll band. But Jules doesn't turn to drugs or alcohol to escape the stresses and pressures of fame. Instead, she turns to sex. Using and controlling men is her drug of choice.
I also really enjoyed the relationships between Julia and her band mates, especially Adam. Their relationship is complex and complicated, making it that much more interesting to read. They have great chemistry.
Watching this band interact with each other and their fans as they are on tour reminded me, that underneath the glitz and glamour they're still just human.
Will Julia be able to make a relationship work with Adam? Will she resolve the past family issues that still haunt and influence her? I just had to keep turning the pages to find out!

The center them of a band and the center character to be a lead singer in the bad was something that drew me to this book instantly. I have followed several bands during my college times and had always been curious about what happens between the band members - the dynamics of it all. I loved this book how it portrayed the hard work that a band does and the ties that the band members share. In the end, we're all same, basic humans, when it comes down to relationships. Be it art, science, or finance that your profession is, you are a human first, bound by the same feelings and emotions.

This book was great and I recommend this to anyone looking for a good read with a musical background.

Even though she doesn't make the best decisions, I was rooting for Julia all the way. We get the sense that she had an emotionally damaging childhood when right away she mentions that she was following in her mother's footsteps, at least where men and sex was concerned. How she was going to make it in a straight relationship with her band mate Adam kept me turning the pages. Clearly in love with her, I was unsure of how she would end up treating him. But then, love never moves in a straight line and their relationship is so full of twists and challenges it makes for curious reading and those pages keep turning.
