Sex traffickers, serial killers, and superheroes...welcome to the world of Galilee Falls, Sydney Rye!
Sydney Rye thought she'd wiped out the Cartel responsible for killing her friend Malina, but that was only the beginning. She finds herself in a new city, a city with one of the highest concentrations of superheroes in the world, with a new partner to finish the job and avenge her friend.
Nemesis knows a lot about vengeance. The self-proclaimed goddess of retribution has spent the past four years terrorizing the rapists and abusers of her city into submission. But the life of a vigilante is a lonely one. When the Joyful Justice Network asks her to aid Sydney Rye in breaking up a sex trafficking ring, she leaps at the chance to work with the legend. But Sydney isn't there to make friends. Can the women put aside their differences to wipe the villains off the map once and for all? Maybe with a little help from a White Knight...
Jennifer Harlow spent her restless childhood fighting with her three brothers and scaring the heck out of herself with horror movies and books. She grew up to earn a degree at the University of Virginia which she put to use as a radio DJ, crisis hotline volunteer, bookseller, lab assistant, wedding coordinator, and government investigator. Currently she calls Northern Virgina home but that restless itch is ever present. In her free time she continues to scare the beejepers out of herself watching scary movies and opening her credit card bills.
The best thing about the Kindle World is discovering a new-to-me author and their own series. Harlow has a series called Galilee Falls which she combined with the Sydney Rye series to give us Nemesis. Although the Sydney Rye series is fantastic I found it was not necessary to have read either series. Stephanie was victimized as a young girl, along with her cousin, but instead of becoming the victim for the rest of her life she became Nemesis. As a vigilante working with her uncle, a cop, she is able to help victims by terrorizing their predators. A sex slave/human trafficking operation has caught the interest of Sydney's group Joyful Justice and works with Nemesis to break the group down. In a world full of superheroes there is a special one that happens to be on their side. Nemesis is a great character and very much like Sydney in her tough as nails persona, she also has a deep story that keeps her goals in check. Despite the seriousness of their mission the girls manage to give us a little comic relief with sarcastic wit, love for their dogs and slightly differing views on the male species. Thank you Ms. Harlow for sending an early review copy I truly enjoyed your characters.
