Mail Order Mischief

Rate this book
When Elizabeth Miller agreed to manage a mail order bride agency years before, she had no idea that it would leave her lonely and isolated. She's loved one man for years and is about to give up on marrying for love entirely. When she receives a letter from a man in Texas looking for a bride, she considers marrying him to be close to her sister. She doesn't want to be alone for the rest of her life.

Bernard agrees to work for Elizabeth after his life is shattered. As he slowly heals and picks up the pieces and gets to know his beautiful employer, he realizes he is falling for her more and more, but he knows his place in life. When she insists on taking a trip to Fort Worth to check out a potential groom, he knows he can't send her alone. Will he be able to survive the long train ride to Fort Worth without letting his feelings show? Or will Elizabeth somehow convince him that they are meant to be?

The first time Bernard was mentioned as Elizabeth’s butler in her new profession as matchmaker, in the back of my mind I was thinking “they’re going to be a couple one day” – I just never thought it would be a decade for them to finally admit their feelings.

I completely enjoyed Mail Order Mischief. It was fun, charming and so natural to see Elizabeth and Bernard together. I do admit that there were parts of this story that puzzled me until I realized that there must have been an event in another series that connects in some way. I had no clue that there was any lingering danger around Beckham, so that was a… surprise. It didn’t make a difference in the storyline for me, simply a reminder to look for the connecting stories and get caught up. (not a chore at all *grin*)

If you’ve loved the Brides of Beckham series, then Elizabeth and Bernard’s story is one you won’t want to miss. Tender, touching, a bit of danger, and some honeymoon sighs. Indulge yourself and enjoy.

I own a Kindle edition of this story.

okay book with lost opportunities

This book was one I was looking forward to, but was a little disappointed in. I didn’t feel the connection between Elizabeth and Bernard until the very end. Most of it felt more like two characters in lust with each other than two characters that had been secretly in love for a long time. The reunion between the sisters also felt hollow. It would have been nice to see Elizabeth interact with her nephews and nieces. Instead we got more sex talk and we were told that she saw them. It just all felt rushed and there were so many lost opportunities.

This is Elizabeth and Bernard's story. Ever since Elizabeth Miller had taken over the mail order bride business in Beckham 10 years ago and Bernard had started working as her butler and bodyguard she had had feelings for Bernard and hadn't realized he had feeling for her also.

Once they were headed to Texas to check out a potential bride for Elizabeth and also visit with Elizabeth's sister, Susan, their feelings were finally voiced by both of them and it led to their marriage prior to getting to Texas.

This was another great book by Kirsten Osbourne and had a lot of excitement.

Nice Novella

This is the story of how Elizabeth Miller finds her husband. She's been a matchmaker for 10 years and now we're treated to her story. This story has a different arc than the typical Mail Order Bride story but it's a nice change of pace. I highly recommend this series if you're interested in quick stories about happy endings.

Elizabeth Miller, matchmaker, and Bernard Tandy, butler, have loved each other for years but kept the other at arm's length. Add some danger from 'the Deacons' (The Escape) and watch things heat up.

They had no clue

I think I've read mail order mischief at least five times over the last few years. It's very good, to think you could be in love with some one for ten years and not have a clue. Who knew! Glad they figured it out though. What a family...
