Book four in the action-packed Hayden Tilden Western series! The Dawson gang plundered its way across the Arkansas territory, leaving a trail of mutilated bodies in its wake. When the Brotherhood of Blood is dispatched with orders to shoot on sight, they’re caught off guard and ambushed by the outlaws, leaving only Hayden Tilden and a civilian tracker to continue the hunt. Two men against some of the most ruthless killers ever to roam the West—and the man who inspired their brutal atrocities, Charlie Storms . . .“J. Lee Butts is one fine Western writer whose stories have a patina of humor, nonstop action . . . and a strong sense of place.” —Roundup MagazineAbout the J. Tilden Hayden, Carlton J. Cecil U.S.Marshals are on the trail of some of the West worse killers. I should also include Billy Bird also U.S.Deputy Marshal who was knifed by one of the gang members and died on the spot. He was buried on Pine Mountain, Arkansas; life as a U.S.Marshals under the directions of Judge Issac C. Parker of the Indian Territories and beyond. These Marshals put their lives on the line each time they put their boot in their stirrups and ride out searching for these horrific, wicked murderers, to either bring back to Fort Smith to stand trial before Judge Parker aka"The Hanging Judge." This story doesn't hide any of the horrors that these men faced. This Dawson Gang led by Maynard Dawson, those men that were in that gang had no boundaries; crucified, raped and whatever their demented minds conjured up. Tilden Hayden and Carlton J. Cecil did what they had to do and kept it going. IT was kill or be killed. While reading this adventure, the characters scared me, and I hoped that these brave warriors of the law were able to catch these horrible men, and be able to return home to their loved ones alive, possibly they were wounded but they would live but they needed rest and time to heal...Both mentally and physically...
Book four, I read the first three, just contagious!
Most western seem to use a formula and I suppose these do too, but it's darn good formula. Twists and turns and everything does not always turn out right. Helps me that I have been to much of Oklahoma in my own past. Not perfect, but pretty close.
I continue to enjoy this series. In this story, Hayden takes on the bad guys again. It's entertaining, full of memorable characters and keeps you wanting more.
