Curse of the Bloodstone Arrow
The Whispering Pines Mystery Series, Book 3
By: Constance Barker, A.J. DeBellis
Narrated by: Angel Clark

This book has the Inn troubled because the local witch sent a devil Cupid loose into one of Jesse's events. It was messing up marriages, relationships of all kinds. Jessie has to sort all this out.
She also wants to know about her father. She never knew him and her mother talked about him. She finds out in this book.
These may sound like exciting things but I was bored. Like, really bored! When I found out who her father was I wanted to scream. Too much!
Between the book, the annoying grandma, and the screeching voice of the narrator, I had a migraine going. I did finish so I could review the book. I rounded up from 2.5 stars.
I received all three of these books from freeaudiblecodes and thought they would be fun, I should have read them.

Mysteries solved...

There’s a lot going on around Whispering Pines for Valentines Day... Jessie and her friends certainly have their hands full.
In this, the third book of the series (and you really need to read them in order), Jessie needs to solve the murder of a beauty queen, learn about her father, find out who killed her mother, and stop a marauding evil Cupid!
Ultimately there is a lot revealed in this book, and the murder mystery is really more of a background plot than the main one. The mystery of Jessie’s paternity is an unusual one, and the explanation of her gifts is a little unusual too. Jessie’s romance stays on track, and her abilities continue to grow.
I thoroughly enjoyed this cozy mystery with a twist, it’s an entertaining couple of hours read, well worth it for those who enjoy paranormal cozy mysteries.

Jesse and Travis are among evil goblins and arrows shot in the dark, who killed the beauty queen.

Jessie is learning more and more about her powers. Will her ghostly mom finally tell her who her father is? All her friends are besieged with an evil imp spirit let loose by jealousy to create mayhem during the crowning / death of the beauty queen. Will we find out who set her on fire and why?
Sorry but you will have to read the book to find out.

Over the top

Semi spoiler alert. I love imagination in a writer. I do. And I confess that I'm not too crazy about stories that reduce magic to aliens and advanced physics. Nevertheless, though this story is pretty well written, there are just too many elements that defy credulity. I can only suspend just so much disbelief, and some of the elements are discordant--the gods are really aliens, but there are ghosts and demons, and a battle between good and evil. And everyone around the heroine is either as wildly talented as she is or they accept all the craziness as normal. And it is mostly used to solve a perfectly ordinary mystery with again, you guessed it, some elements that just don't quite come together when they are trotted out at the end to explain the murderer's behavior. The finale seems a bit rushed and it all gets explained instead of naturally revealed. This book probably just needs a good editor to tone it down and smooth it out, and it is better than the first book in the series. I probably will read the next one because parts of the premise are interesting, and because the author is promising and may eventually straighten all this out on her own. Surely someone this talented will eventually see the problems with her work and rein herself in.

This was in interesting murder. You definitely don’t know who is the murderer is until the last minute. You also find out who her father is and why her mother was murdered and who murdered her. I actually would love to hear more about her father. I hope the author decides to write some sort of series or another book so we can learn more about her dad. That would be pretty awesome!

OK, so I finished all three books, they were very good, and certainly kept me interested. They were a short quick read, but I thoroughly enjoyed all three.
