30 pages into this book I decided "This really doesn't interest me." But it kept drawing me in, until I could no longer resist finishing it, and wanting more.
The best book on Zen that is written for the 21st century and from a very real and very practical Western perspective. And because of this it is the most accessible work I have come across.
Zen is a word that sounds almost mystic, but it's really just being mindful in the here and now. I thought the way this book took everyday thinking and living and brought it down to the true nature of things was interesting and thought provoking.
i was hoping for more from this book...but it was just ok. it's a good one to pick up once in awhile for a little perspective, however. i often need to be reminded that "there is no mountain."
Very well written and clear writing on an opaque subject. I love it! Zen Reflections connects to me in the similar manner in which I experience Druidism.
This book makes a simple reason of mindfulness is in Buddhism. I found it very helpful and I was able to pick it up at any time, for two days, and carry-on. What a gift!
