Hot rock stars, conniving groupies, two crazy moms, and a park ranger - this romantic comedy has it all!
Dani Roberts is on break after a long winter in Yellowstone. She has a couple weeks to kill before heading to her summer job, so she hits the road for a little adventure.
But in a lonely cafe in the middle of the nowhere Nevada she runs into two rock stars. They are kind and funny... and ridiculously hot. They offer her a ride on their tour bus that ends up changing Dani's adventure, and her life, for good.
Hank Tolk he is definitely her type, and definitely a terrible player. Sean Rush is a bigger-than-life, scary-looking, tattooed monster of a man.
Falling for a rock star is not in Dani’s itinerary. But when disaster strikes and one of them proves what kind of man he really is, she can’t resist. Dani has to decide – do a park ranger and a rock star really stand a chance at love?
Kay Harris is a college professor, former park ranger, and anthropologist. People observation is in her blood. She writes romance novels that emphasize character development and dialogue. They always contain a little bit of sweet, a dash of sexy, a touch of heartbreak, and a whole lot of fun! Kay grew up in Michigan, has since lived all over the west, including Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Nevada and California.
It was an okay read. Things happen, but the couple does not really get together until almost the end of the book. I did not mind how the heroine started a relationship with another rock star. It added to the story.
The ending and how everything cleared up with the heroine's abusive parents felt a little rushed and unrealistic. If the ending was different, I would have probably given it 4 stars. I did enjoy the book, just I felt like everything came together too quickly and sweetly for me to believe it.
I liked the secondary characters.

With that behind me…I have to say this was a riveting read. I picked it up in the dark (electricity cut lasting over an hour) and thought I would read a bit before sleeping. In the wee hours of the morning, after finishing the last page, I wished I had the next book in the series to keep on reading – who needs sleep – right?
Dani, on a break between Park Ranger jobs, is in a diner in Nevada when two rock stars come in for a meal. After chatting with her for a bit they offer her a ride to their next destination on tour and since it is where she is going she hops on the bus. Hank, Sean and Mike ride in bus #1 and usually take the scenic route away from the roadies and groupies. Through that first night of chat and card playing a connection occurs that sees Dani with them for most of the rest of their tour. Friendships are made and a romance is begun between two at first seemingly opposite types. However, both with romantic inclinations have insecurities to overcome before they can achieve their happily ever after.
Told in the first person, something hard to pull off well, this story was a delight with surprises and insights that made it a fun and very entertaining read. I liked all of the characters and look forward to reading more about their HEA’s in the future.
While this your standard "Rockstar" romance it still manages to set it self apart from others the writing and character development is very well done. I really enjoyed reading this one the opening kind of set the whole tone of the book I certainly want to read the next one in the series.
"I was stranded in a diner in the dessert at 3am. Things had not been going my way. And then two smoking hot rock stars walk in and offer me a ride."
I absolutely love this book. This is a new author to me and I have to say she is off to an amazing start. I loved Sean and Henry and loved Dani. I would love to read more from this author. I have to say it had some mistakes in it but it didn't take away from the story at all. I couldn't put it down. I will definitely re-read this book. I hope to read more from this author.
I didn't know what to expect from this book. A park ranger and a rock star is a very strange combination, but the author made it work. There were a lot of editing errors that distracted me while reading, thus the 3 stars. Story-wise though, the author did a good job telling this story. I liked all the characters and the internal logic of the story made sense. I am going to buy the next one in the series and read it right away.
"Love on the Rocks" was one of those books that I couldn't (and didn't want to) put down once I'd started reading it.
I really enjoyed the story about Dani "Baby"Roberts, Sean Rush, Hank "Henry" Tolk and all the others that are part of their time on the road. When park ranger Dani sat in a diner in the middle of the night right in the middle of nowhere, she couldn't imagine how much her life would change when the door opened and two rock stars entered. Finding herself on the road with them was just the beginning of a wonderful road trip leading to much more. Of course it is not easy to be catapulted in such a world but somehow against all odds - and despite evrythign groupies and roadies and exes and....well - everybody around them, actually - throws at them, Dani very soon finds her place in the world of those stars. Fortunately she was well prepared to guard herself against someone getting into her pants but somehow it seems that while she was protecting herself against the one guy the other one was slowly finding his way into her heart - and maybe also in her pants, who knows...
I liked the complex, very lovable and sympathetic characters and the wonderful story that was never dull but kept me on my toes. Despite the fact that Dani has serious problems with her self esteem due to her personal history that shape her relationship with....the one she is falling for...as well and that make her act insecure and not always sensible, I never felt that it was too much or too ... anything. Her reactions made sense and additionally she was also capable of analyzing and of drawing conclusions and acting accordingly. It wasn't always easy but always very authentic and I felt with them even though I felt with her when the guys were always fussing over her even though it was also very cute.
An entertaining story, that made me laugh and cry and sigh and dream - and want for more! I loved this story and this definitely wasn't the last time that I've read it!

"I received a copy of this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for my honest review." This seems like a familiar theme: famous person in a relationship with a "normal" person, but it branches out from that simple theme. Dani Roberts has always been the black sheep of her family. After getting her psychology degree, she drifts into a job as a Park Ranger, and loves her work. However, between summer ranger jobs in the US southwest, and winter ranger jobs in the northwest, she feels like a boat without a rudder. Finding herself in a delicate situation after hitchhiking from Las Vegas with a trucker, she finds refuge in a diner and meets up with two famous faces in the hard rock world. They approach her and she finds that they're nice people up close. They offer her a ride to their next concert destination, also in the direction that she's heading, and suddenly she's on the road with the two stars, their assistant, and their bus driver. This is a story about people who've each got insecurities, but who find comfort and then love in each other. Add in overprotective parents on both sides, and you have a tense, but sometimes comedic, relationship. Can a "normal" girl find a lasting relationship with a gorgeous man who has groupies falling all over him, and sometimes into his bed? Can a rock star find love with someone who doesn't want his fame or fortune? Well, love sometimes can conquer all obstacles. Along the way, Dani finds not just love with Sean, but big brothers in Henry "Hank" and Mike, Sean's fellow rock star and their assistant.
2.7-3.2 Stars. I wanted to like this story. I've been on a bad book streak and am so over it. I liked the male characters and the support female characters but Dani just didn't do it for me. I liked her back story and her wandering. In fact I had a lot in common with her. What I didn't like was the fact that she was always a victim. I wanted a strong confident female lead (some insecurities are ok after all we have them). After a while how ignorant/naive she was just got on my nerves. It could've been a really cute story.
The beginning need to be set up differently. Another reader made the comment that they were really confused in the beginning. I now see what they were talking about. The author has it set up that most of the story is Dani remembering the past/ telling a story. So when the author dumps us in the present with no set up the first couple paragraphs leaves you briefly confused. It gets better but it's a bit strange.
I read this book through Kindle Unlimited. Its my first book by this author. The writing is really good however the book needs editing for missing and misplaced words. It is told from Dani's pov.
This is a really sweet story of Dani who is 28 and traveling the country between jobs as a park ranger. She meets up with rock stars Sean and Hank in a diner and ends up traveling with them while they tour the country with their bands. She slowly falls in love with one of them and becomes great friends with the other. They deal with the problems and insecurities of dating a rock star along with past relationship issues. I highly recommend and can't wait to start the second book in the series.
Kay Harris was a author I have never read before and she did not disappoint. I enjoy all kinds of books as long as they have some kind of romance in them. I fell in love with Sean in this book and the connection him and Dani had was awesome. Wish I got to read a little bit more about there relationship after the tour but I am sure they will be in the next book.
Love on the Rocks is a sweet romance between a famous rock star, Sean, and park ranger, Dani (aka "Baby"). If you've read "Lost on the Road to Love" by the same already, this is the story about Henry's parents.
Sean and Dani meet by chance at a diner - Dani needs a ride, and the rock stars enjoy her company enough to invite her onto their tour bus. From there, we follow the group as they tour from city to city performing concerts. What starts as just a friendship gradually builds up to something more. There are definitely some ups and downs along the way to keep things interesting: Dani has trouble adjusting to the fame and the constant competition. She also has a habit of running away from her problems, which can complicate things. Sean can be very overprotective, but I like that Dani is able to stand up to him about that.
Overall I enjoyed all the of the main characters in the story, and they felt genuine to me. I especially liked that Dani was such a strong female character. I found the book to be a quick read and hard to put down! The story takes place over the course of a couple months, and time flows seamlessly through the story. It is written in first person from Dani's point of view. I'm excited that this is a series so that I can continue to follow the characters and learn more about them!
Sometimes I just need a sweet, funny read with a happily ever after. More often than not, even after reading descriptions and reviews, I end up reading something with too much raunch, and foolish characters who fall into bed and "love" too quickly. There's something so much more satisfying to a story with a longer build, where intimacy is earned rather than thrown about. Amongst many other very good reasons (likeable characters, humor, adventure, friendship and romance), that slower build to love was sweetly and wonderfully written in Loves On The Rocks. This was my first time reading Kay Harris and in happy to have found this gifted author.
I really enjoyed this book. The author created a group of characters you can’t help but enjoy. Combine that with a plot line that flows well, and I was hooked from the start.
I also loved that the book didn’t revolve around s*x. I don’t mind spice but I feel like a lot of rock romances sacrifice plot for spice. This book serves some spice but it is pretty tame and adds to the story, as opposed to detracting from it.
Overall an enjoyable read and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Dani Roberts is a park ranger who meets two rock stars in a diner in a small town in Nevada. They end up taking her on the road with them, and she falls for one of them. I don't read a lot of rock-star romances because I don't like a lot of characters that tend to be in them (groupies, mean girls, etc) and this book had plenty of those. And some of the dialogue was kinda cheesy. But overall I did like the MC's and the story kept me engaged. 3.5 stars.
I loved this sweet rockstar meets ordinary girl story. It had all the elements of the genre and still managed to be funny tender and heartwarming. Steam level 3/4 lots of sexy time but not a lot of detail. Definitely worth the read and I can’t wait to check out more from the author!
It started off really well. I liked the characters, but I thought Danni was a bit too insecure. She could have a bit stronger considering the fact she was a park ranger. I also thought the end was a bit rushed.
This was cute. The other side of rock star life. I liked all the characters. But Dani was usually an emotional insecure mess, and it got annoying after the 878th episode.
When I first started this book, I was sure it was going to be about Dani and Hank... Boy, I was so wrong. I love Sean and Dani's story, especially the ending! Can't wait to hear more about them in the next book!
Not the best book I've read this year, but not the worst either. It was just OK for me. I loved Sean, Hank and Mike. They were the rare good rock stars (and assistant), protective, talented, wealthy and drug free. (But typical when it came to their hook-ups). They're laid back and eager to help out when they see a damsel in distress. Which is pretty much how they find Dani. Hanging out in a seedy diner at 3 in the morning. I didn't understand Dani. She is supposedly a smart person, a self proclaimed nerd. But she takes off on her summer adventure while she's between jobs, a lone, single woman, hitchhiking until she can take a bus, and get to somewhere else where she will buy a car to complete her journey. It just doesn't seem like the smartest way for her to travel. After narrowly escaping a trucker who was very interested in "napping" with her, she jumps on a tour bus with two strangers. But they must be ok, after all they're famous, and she just "has this feeling they're good guys"? Luckily for her they were. As good as the guys are, I didn't get their attraction and fascination with Dani. She's plain, has no self confidence and is constantly running away. Yet they basically adopted her, going so far as giving her a silly nickname. Everything just felt rushed. The friendship with the guys, her decision to continue on the tour, her relationship with Sean, the make-up. Nothing felt completed. It's not a bad book, just not really my style.
