Keep up with old friends from the Wild West Frontier Mail Order Brides series in Tombstone with the first book in the new series, Brides of Archer Ranch.
Saffron Archer spends most of her days baking, reading and helping her family at Archer Ranch in Tombstone. During a rare trip into town one day, she’s taken by a new arrival and his family. Especially his mysterious sister, Carol, who rarely leaves the house and is not allowed to have visitors.
Tombstone’s new farrier, Adam Benson, could use some help, but doesn’t want Saffron—or anyone else—meddling, even as he grows fond of her. He’s overly protective of Carol and has come to Tombstone for a fresh start for his family and aims to get it, even if Saffron gets in his way.
Adam’s sister, Carol, has plans of her own, though, and is just as stubborn as he is. Can Saffron break through to Adam and help Carol realize her dreams? If she does, it just might cost her Adam.
Sweet, clean, low angst read. Surprisngly good for a freebie.
Almost a dnf because the beginning was a bit simple and the characters were pretty flat. They did seem to become more defined as the book went on so I stayed with it. I'm glad I did because it ended up being an enjoyable read.
Could have used a bit more conflict, as well as a good editor.
Some parts, mostly in the beginning were a bit repettitive..especially the whole mud on the dress thing, but after about 25% the writing seemed to smooth out.
This is a SQUEAKY clean read. Hand holding only. Which is ok for me but others may want more.
I did not chalk this up as a "Christian read" because there is no talk of religion...but if "Christian read" to others means no cursing and no sex.. than I guess it is.
Nice light sweet romance. I would definately consider reading more by this author.
. . This 'free' ebook definitely was a sweet and clean tale about a mail-order bride. Both parties agreed to become a partner in marriage.
I must say that the women in this series are tremendous role models. They were independent, strong, and respectful toward their families. Each worked together with their husbands as a team.
The men are hard working, loving, and handsome! Who wouldn't want to spend time with them?
The proofreader must have dozed through their responsibilities to this series, since there were multiple grammar errors.
In this tale, Saffron and Adam are drawn together and face their individual struggles on the road to marital bliss. Adam's sister, Carol, played a great supporting role.
A clean tale, able to stand on its own, and a surprise twist of an H.E.A.
This was a cute historical western romance, but not my favorite of the series. Many of the characters' thoughts and feelings seemed to be repeated throughout the novel. The writing was decent, but there were quite a few typos, missing words, etc. There were also times when entire paragraphs and sometimes pages had nothing to do with what was happening which was confusing and slightly frustrating. I was happy to read about another of the Archer daughters and to encounter characters I've read about in previous novels.
I kept reading, thinking the story would go somewhere, or something would happen, or the BIG SECRET that caused so much angst for Adam might be a real doozy.... but no. It went nowhere, nothing happened, and Adam's secret, while sad, was not worthy of the buildup or angst. I skimmed the last half of the book and felt absolutely no guilt that maybe I was missing some good stuff as I went skimming over page after page.
Saffron: A Sweet Western Historical Romance Book 5
The story of Adam and Saffron. Adam and his family have just move to Tombstone. He is the care giver of his brothers and sister. He hold himself responsible for his sister accident and is over protective until Saffron come in his life. Can she win his heart and help his sister? Great stort.
I am a big advocate for people with disabilities being able to live as normal a life as possible. This just amazed me that people like Mrs Samson existed even then. I thought those beliefs were from the dark ages. Loved this story!
Once again, this book suffers from a few continuity issues which can be frustrating but ultimately they don't detract from the overall story. I loved reading Saffron's story, and being a bit of a homebody myself, I can relate to her desire to just stay home and read her books.
Actually a good story but in dire need of a good proofreading. Lots of technical errors as well as spelling and grammatical errors making it a bit frustrating to read.
I enjoyed reading about Saffron and Adam’s developing romance. The book also did a nice job of introducing us to Carol, the subject of the next book. It was a quick, fun read for vacation!
A beautiful, sweet historical western romance with Adam and Saffron as main characters. Lots of love, romance, adventures, trials and tribulations, but love conquers all.
Only a pre teen could find this interesting, and Maybe not even then. Only reason I finished it was because it was so short. Wouldn't waist time on this series unless you are looking for something for your. Child to read.
Another great love story. This was a great book in the series. Ready for the next book. My favorite thing was how Saffron was a great listener and help where she thought it was right.
Oh my goodness this story made me cry! It was a beautiful story of overcoming guilt and sadness and living ones life again after a tragedy. I felt so much for Adam and his family, and all they had been through in their young lives. Saffron is perfectly happy living with her family at the Archer Ranch, she likes to be alone with her thoughts, and prefers only to go to town when she has to. When she ends up getting a mud bath due to a mud hole and a buggy, she meets Adam, a new man in town, and is very intrigued with him. Adam has moved to town with his two younger brothers and sister, who is unable to walk, to start over after the tragedy of their parent's deaths. When Saffron learns that Adam's sister, Carol, cannot walk, she is curious as to how it came to be, and wants to know more about Adam and his family. Adam is attracted to Saffron, but thinks that no woman would want to love him, not when he comes with a ready made family, and he is overly protective of his family. But Saffron is not an ordinary woman, she is determined to help Carol and see more of Adam. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The Archer family has become near and dear to my heart from the Wild West Frontier Bride Series. They have strong family ties, but they also care deeply about others. It is their upbringing by their late mother and their father, Beau Archer. Saffron is a lot like her mother, loves to cook, read and garden, but she is also a homebody. Getting her to leave the house is a chore. Adam Benson is the new farrier in Tombstone. He has moved there with his two brothers, Andy and Luke, and his sister Carol. When a new family comes to town, Saffron is encouraged to befriend Carol, a young woman who is crippled.
The plot has mystery and angst, an overbearing brother, two strong, determined women, a family that is giving and supportive and throw in a couple of old biddies that like to stir the pot. There is a great cast of characters, ones we have met in previous stories, witty and heartwarming dialog and entertaining moments. This story will read well as a standalone. Disclosure: I received an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions, and ratings are my own.
I really enjoyed this sweet, clean historical story. The premise was unique and the writing was solid. The characters in the story are each unique and each come with their own problems and quirks. I like how this sets it apart from the majority of other historical novellas. Even though the couples meet and fall in love quickly the way that the story leads up to the ending you can feel a connection between them and the appearance is that it was longer.
The book did not feel rushed at all and when done reading you feel like you read longer than you actually did. If you like historical novellas or short (less than a 3 hour read), then this is good author to pick up and read.
Saffron: Bride of Archer Ranch Book 1, by Cindy Caldwell
I received a free copy from the author in exchange for a fair review. Reviews posted on Amazon and Goodreads by Cindy Nipper
This is a wonderful story of championing those different from us! Saffron is very different from her outgoing sisters and lives as much of a life of seclusion as she can in such a large family! She lives outside the world, in her thoughts and daydreams; but when a new farrier comes to town, Saffron moves outside herself and makes a home in the heart of Adam and his family! This is my first read by Cindy Caldwell, and I look forward to reading more of her works, especially this series!
This is a new author for me. I love the way she made Tombstone come alive with all the colorful characters. She played on your heartstrings in a very good way. I won't say anything about the story, other than it was a very enjoyable read. Bel51
This is an amazing book about family, love and courage. Highly recommend the s book and author. Stand a lone book, but better if you read Cindy Caldwell's Mail Order series first.
