This book is just ok at providing a high level overview of beekeeping. It’s not specific enough to use as a good starting guide. For example, it doesn’t even explain that you should use 2:1 syrup in the fall and why. There’s almost nothing on varroa mites which belittles this highly critical management task. If someone is thinking about starting in beekeeping, this is a very basic tutorial at best. That said, kudos to the section on melting wax. A lot of books don’t provide that much detail! Too bad couldn’t say that for the rest.
Very practical and insightful with lots of facts, written in a simple and considerate way. It really takes some of the anxiety out of it and I'll be sure to refer to it regularly as I embark on this daunting yet environmentally friendly and intriguing venture. Wishing everyone else luck on their journey I definitely recommend.
This book is a good starting point if you are thinking of making beekeeping a new hobby. It is an informative, short, easy read that even includes a few pictures.
A good book for the first year bee keeper. I noticed several spelling and grammatical errors which may have been attributed to electronic formatting or poor proofreading.
The books gives a quick and simple overview of Beekeeping. From starting bee hive to Harvesting honey. In short. New bee keeper can start with reading this book
This was a decent introduction to beekeeping for the beginner. Despite a multitude of editing errors, I found Andy’s book to be informative and enjoyable.
Cheap digital purchase with super basic information and instructions. Not a bad thing if this is your "first" beekeeping book. It's a good book for getting your feet wet. I can't see how anyone who is an intermediate or advanced beekeeper would buy this book. The book really does cover all the basics of what you need to get started beekeeping, but I don't feel that it prepares you for any of the potential challenges. The information is solid but lacking in much detail. You get a mild taste and that's about it.
As I said, this is not a bad book for you "first" beekeeping book, but I've you've already got a few. I wouldn't bother, I don't think you'll learn much of anything new.
