Brenda sat in her friend Mel’s funeral with mixed thoughts and emotions. Mel had swallowed pills with booze and ended her life! She couldn’t cope anymore. Her family is distraught. Fast forward a year. This time a 42 year old son, husband, brother, father, cousin, nephew, and friend had finally given in to the demon thoughts and taken his own life.
After a roller coaster life filled with drama, destruction, addiction, confusion and suicidal thoughts, this moment of watching the family’s excruciating pain created confusion in Brenda’s mind. As she sat their surrounded by friends, 45 years old, gentle tears continually flowing, listening to stories seasoned with heartbreak, she realised at this point that, in truth, suicide is not an option. It was time to push through and on with life. There had to be another way.
Sitting there that day, smothered in tears of disappointment and confused by a gentle hope, Brenda was inspired to finally complete her book. She was inspired to heal, to live, to laugh. She was inspired to inspire through her love of writing.
