In this Keyshia and Cashmere spinoff,Jahsai "Jux" Jones is fresh home from the feds after getting cased up for catching a body in an armed robbery, 8 years ago. Deciding to leave the streets alone and be a business man for once in his life, he heads to Vegas after agreeing to do one last lick for his man Cashmere and Ru. But situations arise and things don't go as planned when he gets jammed up and his life almost taken. That's when he meets Ya'Lani. The beautiful distraction. Although she saves his life, Jux is a firm believer in not leaving any witnesses behind. But the two soon realize they have more in common than just a shootout in the club. What happens when Jux finds out Lani and her man, were part of the reason he went to prison 8 years ago? Does he become so infatuated in her that he goes against his morals? The heart wants who it wants, but as the old saying goes, "No faces, No Cases"
YaLani is just that girl! This beautiful, successful, talented, plus-sized woman with just the right amount of street in her is a woman on the move. Despite her boss persona, nothing has come easy for Lani. She’s a person often misunderstood. Left with a bleeding heart, she has to decide if the time she’s spent with her longtime boyfriend, Sha, is enough to remain in this tumultuous relationship.
YahLa is a quiet, loyal beauty with a life any girl would kill for…at least on the surface. Her naivete is a breath of fresh air amidst chaos, underhandedness, and the harshness of being boo’d up with a boss.
Harmony is beautiful, fun-loving and commitment phobic. She’s been burned by men so much, she has shut off her emotions and has decided to just do her. When her path crosses with the cocky, sexy Loui will she be able to keep him in the fwb category or will she find herself emotionally in unchartered territory?
This is such a great spinoff from the Keyshia and Cashmere series. Karma Monae has done it again. A Jersey Love Saga is full of interesting characters with a plot that moves quickly. Unique to her writing style, Karma Monae has managed to tap into the emotions of her characters and relay them fully to her readers. They are relatable and multi-dimensional. While I wasn’t sure I was feeling Loui in the beginning due to his aggressive, disrespectful tactics, by the end of the story I saw him in a different light. Far too often in urban lit young women are portrayed as feeling the need to be loyal to guys who haven’t earned it, while sacrificing and compromising themselves as they receive betrayal, disloyalty and abuse in return for their efforts. It was refreshing to see a woman who understood her value and her worth enough to walk away once the truth of her partner’s actions and character were revealed. This is a definite five-star story, however the book was full of errors that distracted from the story. Needs a good proofread. Looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
Wow what can I say, this book had more drama then a lil bit but I loved it. It seemed like everybody was sleeping with everybody. I'm so excited and can't wait for part 2 cause I just know it's going to be good
The series started off where Keyshia & Cashmere series ended. I was so impressed by this author, that I went straight into the Saga series. Keyshia's cousins, Yayla, and Ya'Lani, were briefly mentioned in the Keyshia & Cashmere's, and the little that were mentioned of Lani, I knew she was going to be a force to be reckoned with.
Ya' Lani was a woman that was a BBW, beautiful black woman, and she was stacked.... wide hips, a round booty, and a tiny waist, and she had an attitude to match. Lani was just as nonchalant as they came, and she didn't bite her tongue for anyone. She was still a good woman, but she had those bi-polar ways, just like any other woman, but she was the true definition of a hood, down chick. Lani had been with Shamir, for the longest, and she was there for him, when he was lost, broken, and far from popping. Along with Sha's come-up, came the women, and he wanted them all. Eventually, what happened in the dark, came to the light, and Lani had had enough. After he did the most disrespectful thing, having a baby by another woman, she finally left, now she was left to put her broken heart back togther.
Jahsai was a man of integrity, and honor. He was smitten by Lani, after she practically saved his life. He didn't know whether to sex Lani, or to smack her. She was so down to earth, but her mouth, would make any man question their manhood. Jux was really simple, and he wasn't a cheater, like most men, or to be taken lightly. Jux loved his mother like no other, and he was very grounded. Lani and Jux were made for each other, but it seemed as if they just couldn't get themselves together, and it was frustrating to see how much they loved one another, but something always kept them at odds, like finding out Jux was married.
Yay'La was the true definitely of a good girl. She was so in love with her man, that no other man existed. Yay was Lani's sister, the more reserved one. Even though they were so different, they were very similiar. However, Yay was very naive, and she believed in the fairy tale, the white picket fence, the perfect relationship, and the happily ever after. Zy, Jux's brother, was proud to know that he was the only man that Yay had been with, and sometimes when a man has everything, he tends to forget to that he could lose it all in the blink of an eye.
Harmony was Lani's best friend, and she was such a free spirit, that one would've thought that she was promiscuous. Harmony was damaged goods after being in a relationship with Amir for six years. She was afraid to settle down, and she didn't have a problem with getting up under a man, if that was what she wanted. Harmony almost didn't believe in love anymore, but that was until she finally met her match. Harmony didn't know if she should try someone new, or if she should give the man that finally held her interest a chance.
Rhonda was Yay's best friend. I wasn't fond of Rhonda at all, because it was like she was hiding something. Even though she was like a sister to Yay, it was something about her side-eyes, and her sarcasm towards Yay, that made me question her true feelings towards Yay, and that definitely didn't get past Lani. Rho was in the circle, but not so much, but like Harmony, she was one that wasn't particular about who she gave her body too, but her attitude was more of a undercover freak. She didn't know who she wanted, and she played a deadly game, playing with men hearts. There could only be one possible outcome that could come of hopping from one man to the next.
Jun is my dream guy he's everything you'd want in a hood G.. I'd definitely be his Bonnie.... talking about the book too much will give it away, I think once I'm done I'm going to reread the entire series again including keisha and cashmere...
Jux, jux, jux. I don’t even know what to say. Every character is this book HAS issues! Karma Monae definitely knows how to keep the drama coming! Lani is my bihhhh I love her crazy behind. She didn’t take anyone’s mess and she was always bulletproof, I hope Loui and Harm get it together, & Yay need to leave Zay where he at 🙄. Great book tho!
I can say this book was awesome. I loved the characters and how you brought some of the old ones back from Keyshia and Cashmere book. I just really hope Zy and Yay fix their relationship as well as the others life is two short for them to live regretting instead of trying to take chances and being able to work on fixing things for the better.
I honestly wasn't going to read the spin off, because I felt it couldn't get any better after Keyshia and Cashmere's story, but I'm glad I read it. The plot twists and the stories makes the book hard to put down. In this book everybody takes a loss; no one is safe! I cannot wait to read book 2.
I love rereading this book. The characters are something else, but with all the drama thrown at them who comes out on top. Lani and jux are made for each other but keep playing games. Harm and loui are too much a like. Rho should have had a talking part to. Rique is wrong on so many levels it ain't funny. Yay and Lani be on that ti for tat mess. See that's how people get hurt
Now I don't like how these girls hop from 1 D to another, but I do say they are built for this game. Cheating and forgiving....accepting outside babies and all...I tip my hat. Im not built like that....I would have been long gone. I will keep reading.
Im so disappointed in Zy. I honestly thought he was perfect for Yay. JuX is a hypocrite. He fussed at Lani about She. But the whole time he's married. Harmony and is crazy to not see that Loui loves her. Rho was just trifling. I want Yay with Rique
This book could have been great but I couldn't get past all the typos. Almost every paragraph had some type of error from spelling to punctuation to capitalization. Who was the editor and do they do drugs?
This was a good spin off from the Keyshia and Cashmere books. I enjoyed the characters and especially liked Jux and his moral ground. Like most people, he has trust issues, but he's trying to change them, as are the sisters.
This book was a very good read. It brought all the characters back together again. Kali was my girl and Jux's parents were definitely original OG. This book have us an opportunity to go back. Love it. Buying book 2 now.
I thought Keyshia and Cashmere's story was straight out messy, the s$#t right here beyond disloyal and betrayal. All these hoes can't be trusted and these B.A.N's is ain't worth then dead flies....WTF is really on
Jux is my favorite character. Hes ruthless and does not care. I hope his heart heals and he gets his happy ending. I cant wait to see what happens next
