Issac is an empath, a human that can sway other people’s emotions who doesn’t often have luck with women because he refuses to use his power for evil. After going on another failed date, he finds himself in his favorite spot in town; the library. There, he sees the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen, not just on the outside, but inside as well. Following her, she leads him to a magic shop, where she confronts him. As they talk, they realize that they share much in common, and romance blooms. Together they decide the state’s mystery of the disappearing girls, revealing a more sinister foe than the police can possibly imagine.
Wow I really loved this Cozy Mystery story and I can't wait to read the next book! This is a new to me author and I wasn't sure if I would like this book but it kept me sucked in the story with Issac and Sophie, especially when they had to help other's who were in trouble before they could reach their HEA!
Issac is empathic, but he really doesn't understand much about his powers...until a mysterious woman comes into the library and he follows her to her magic shop, almost in a trance. Together, they try to solve the kidnapping of some young girls who have gone missing from their homes, possibly for some bizarre magical ritual. Felt very rushed at the end...again, almost like a creative writing assignment that maybe she finished writing just as the professor walked in the room to collect.
This was a reasonable read - however it was not as good as other books by the author, such as pick your poison.
I think the book would have been far better with an increased amount written about the supernatural element and less about the so called romance - in fact I would go as far as to say that the romance element spoiled the whole book for me. I don't think it was needed.
This author needs to take more time and develop her talents. As the "series" (more like series of short stories) progressed, the stories were harder to follow.
