The modern world can leave you feeling isolated, despite being more connected than ever through social media. There's something missing. The information age has created mad souls looking to fill the void with a higher purpose. This poetry collection explores themes of madness, suicide, murder, and black magick in a modern society devoid of humanity.
Thom Young is a writer from Texas. His work has been in PBS Newshour, The Wall Street Journal, The Oxford Review, and over a hundred literary journals. A 2008 Million Writers Award and 2016 Pushcart Prize nominee. His work was recently featured in the Friction Series in over 700 Barnes and Noble locations.
This book covers many themes. Thom Young's poetry ranges from serious to tongue-in-cheek and has wide appeal amongst his follwers on Instagram. It's not quite what you'd expect, and will leave you wondering in ways it's hard to explain - you just have to experience it yourself.
Malachai Pulido writes on recurring themes, and has entitled his portion of the book "Themes and Voices." He is at times contemporary, and at others reminiscent of classical poetry, and times long past. His writing is evocative and hard-hitting, and the collected poems in this title are well suited to one another.
Also included is a One Act play written in 2007, which offers a different glimpse into some of the same recurring themes of his poetry. I don't read plays often, but enjoyed this one. It easily comes to life in the mind as you read the page.
I highly recommend this book to all types, as it has a little something for everyone.
