Hunt Family #2

Kiss Me in Carolina

Rate this book
It's been said that the best time to find love is when you aren't looking for it. Rachel Stephens was a prime example of that. She was solely focused on completing her last year of dental school and love wasn't even on her radar.

She also wasn't excited about having London Ryder has a houseguest. The two weren't necessarily the best of friends, so when London came to L.A. to visit her A-list actor boyfriend, Rachel wondered why she asked to stay with her. In fact, she was beginning to wonder if this actor was really even London's boyfriend in the first place. But she decided to just grin and bear it.

Rachel never expected London bring her along on a film shoot. She certainly never expected to spend an afternoon alone with the actor who might just turn out to be the man of her dreams. Then again, sometimes we have to let go of our expectations and accept our destiny.

Kiss me in Carolina is the second book in the Hunt Family Series. It is a sweet natured, contemporary romantic drama, centered on the Hunt family.

Some of the characters from the first book carry over into this one. It focuses mainly on Logan Ritchie, an A-list movie star in Los Angeles. He had met a girl, London Ryder, the previous summer at his family's beach house in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Her rich father arranges a trip for London to fly to L.A., asking an old high school friend, Rachel Stephens, if she could stay with her. Rachel's parents are missionaries and highly depend on the donations they receive from London's father. A chance meeting at movie set changes the life of Rachel Stephens forever.

Rachel is true to herself above all else and stipulates a condition before even communicating with the young man she met any further. He was persistent, but she held to her guns and avoided contact. Almost a year later they meet again.

In a week's time, this young girl experienced joy, kidnapping, and indescribable elation. Here is your new life Rachel Stephens! Who would have ever thunk one week could change a life so drastically?

Although this is a series, it is able to stand alone. If you plan to read the series, I would recommend that you start at the beginning to ensure you are exposed to as many details as possible about this huge family. There are a minimal number of spelling/grammar errors, but nothing that distracts from the captivating, clean, and wholesome read. Thankfully, it did conclude with a H.E.A.

Another great listen, this one is a little more insta love which isn’t my personal favorite but it was done in a way that I really didn’t mind.
I kind of loved that Logan who is so famous falls for a pretty ordinary girl.

I think the only thing I would have changed was finding out who duped Rachel, I feel like the story isn’t over yet.

Again great narration Kate really brings you into the story.

So these books are such short reads, that the author rushes the development of characters and storyline to get the story to be so short. The great thing about this is that you can read a little romantic book like this one in an afternoon, the bad thing about this is that you are left wondering how believable it really is to fall in love in such a short amount of time and you are also left not feeling that the story is that believable.

Logan is the main character for this book, he is in actor in LA and meets Rachel, he wants to date her and asks for her number but she will not give it to him as she doesn’t believe he is being very sincere. He says he is and she says “ok, give me your number and I will phone you in one year and if you are still single you can date me” This book is a short, clean read.

Ugh, where has this author been? I really love her stories. They are quick? But full of chemistry and humor and emotions.

This was about Logan, the celebrity, and Rachel the Dentist. This is the first time I have read about a dentist, I like that she had a different profession than all the typical heroines out there.

Rachel was dating in a purposeful way. She wasn’t interested in hooking up, the point of dating to her was to look for a potential husband. She is a virgin and is saving herself for marriage. She flat out tells Logan it’s not going to happen between them because of that fact. This of course makes Logan like her even more. So he tells her he will wait for her, to prove to her he’s serious he will wait.

I really loved Logan and Rachel.

One thing I love about Brooke St James is her stories include what most people daydream about. Who wouldn't want a celebrity falling in love with them? But this book was so much more than that. I loved the characters, including Logan. The Hunt family is such a great, down to earth family, that it makes sense Logan is such a great person, despite his celebrity status. This book is definitely worth a read and fits in so well with the rest of the author's book. They allow you to escape the real world and hope true love, such as what the characters have, is real.

I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Rachel Stevens is intent on finishing her final year of dental school and isn’t happy she has to entertain London Ryder. Logan gets her to go to a movie shoot where she meets A-list actor Logan. He’d like to date her, but she thinks he isn’t serious. When they see each other again after her graduation, he convinces her to go on vacation with him and his family. An uplifting book about faith, waiting for what you want, and love.

I loved this story and finished it very quickly. Rachel shared with London her beliefs on waiting until she was married. And he showed respect and patience in waiting for her. I was truly taken back that they waited almost a year to start talking and getting to know each other. I love a story where the man is protective and takes care of the woman he loves. London showed Rachel that he loved her as Christ loved the church.

Fun romantic fairy tale

Logan's almost immediate interest in Rachel is pretty implausible, & Rachel not wanting to tell the cop what happened to her also seems unlikely (that she was embarrassed doesn't work as her partial truth was more embarrassing for her than the full truth) but who's reading these books for realism?

It's an entertaining read when you're looking for a couple of hours of happy fluff to pass the time.

I love the Hunt family, especially little Ryan and her sweet father and her new mother which she apparently loves everyone of her family and Dee dee is especially gracious to all the family! The mystery of the self centered London was a surprise that I did not expect ! I love that all the women of the Hunt families are lovely and fun loving also at the same time! I have read some o f the other books by Brook St James and I do love her ability to hold our interest!.thank for a good story!

Anyone who thinks that a modern day romance with a movie star can't be clean and sweet should read/listen to this book. It was excellent! I'm so glad that I had a chance to get back to this series before Audible Escape is gone.
The only negative was the narrator who I have heard before and am not a big fan of. She has a pleasant voice, but enunciates too much and doesn't sound comfortable and natural.

Kiss Me in Carolina is the second book in the Hunt Family series. I recommend reading them in order if you plan to read them all. Otherwise, this does fine as a standalone novel.

This story is insta-love, a bit cheesy, but a quick, easy read. Sometimes the dialogue is stilted, and I struggled with it at times. I thought it was overall a decent read with some cute characters.

If you can remember that the book is a work of fiction, you can get past the unrealistic aspects and enjoy a sweet, clean romance.

Wow

Rachel grew up with missionary parents in Kenya and came back to the states to become a dentist. Logan was a big time movie star but he kept to his humble toots. They met when Rachel has to host London when she came out to California. But Rachel & Logan but it off, but he had to wait until almost Sept before he saw her again.

Brooke St. James Kiss Me in Carolina is a continuation or the Hunt Family series. This was an easy book to read and moved along quickly. The characters were likeable and the plot was simplistic with a few twists. I will definitely look for more books in the Hunt Family series.

Fantastic Book!I !

This a very inspiring book. I enjoyed reading about a famous person who is a very normal person. I always wonder what famous people are really like. This gave me some idea how it might be.

Movie star, dental student, can they make it work? We go back to Myrtle Beach with the Hunt family in this one and a different cousin may find love. Clean romance. Funny moments. The jealous friend was very annoying. But real.

not a fan
I'm not really feeling the humor in the books. It's actually pretty corny. Not really enjoying them like I would like.

I liked it but I feel it happened too fast, the love. I liked the "until september" aspect and soul mates type of thing. I would have liked to know what happened to London and the "kidnapping" thing

Quick read, sweet romance (no sex), and a satisfying story. Standalone (but there are a LOT of people introduced at one time or another) and a HEA.

I love when Logan and Rachel have their special time getting to know each other. After Rachel tells him something very personal, this is where I think Logan goes from being interested and attracted to her, to being hers from then on out.
The sushi scene where the friends are all talking about seeing Logan was too drawn out for me and there was no closure with something that happens to Rachel later in the book (don't worry, nothing too bad).
