The Endless Path tells the story of the extraordinary journey of two soul mates who overcame almost insurmountable odds to find each other and to stay together as long as they possibly could. And then one of them died.
It is the story of Gunny and Laurie. Gunny was a chocolate Labrador retriever and Laurie is a person, but those are just the forms that their souls took this time around. You've never read a memoir quite like this one because Gunny was not only a dog, but also the co-author. He was able to write his part with the help of his gifted animal communicator, Alexandra, who could hear him quite clearly. The book traces their life together from when Gunny and Laurie met, until his death at almost fifteen years old, and beyond.
The Endless Path follows Gunny's struggle to survive rare and near fatal illnesses with fierce determination, as well as our amazing adventures living all around the world. It is knowing the edge of death that deepened Gunny's commitment to life --and his reflections on life, love, relationships, and what it all means are astonishing. Gunny tells us the story of his life, and incredibly, about the soul pact that he and I had made long ago.
While there is adventure, laughter, and tears along The Endless Path, in the end, it is about love and all the amazing things that it can accomplish.
I believe Laurie's story and admire her courage (and Gunny's) in telling. There are many dimensions we do not understand and their paths help us on our own. Love is love.
The Endless Path: A Memoir is an enthralling story. I would call it a literary treasure. When I learned of it, I had to buy it and start reading it immediately (I love Kindle and instant downloads!). It's one of those books I like to savor and enjoy every page. I stop frequently to appreciate the beauty of this book and carefully digest the experience. Plus, life insists upon spoiling my enjoyment. Kudos to Laurie Duperier: you have written a masterpiece. I can only hope that you will treat the literary world to more of your magnificent writing.
An Endless Love Story A Magnificent Love Story The Endless Path is a superbly written masterpiece that is so much more than a story. It is a journey of two amazing souls joined as one. Laurie, an articulate, well-educated human, and Ganimedes (Gunny), a handsome, strong-spirited canine, share the path that leads them through the joys and tribulations that life on earth brings into their life together. Reading this wonderful memoir, I felt honored to be welcomed into their world through both Gunny’s and Laurie’s words. “There are none so deaf as those who refuse to listen,” but they listened intently to every thought, emotion, and experience. They shared the innermost parts of their minds and hearts, and they teach us that we are better souls if we are willing to acknowledge that our animals have voices and if we are willing to listen more carefully and hear with belief, faith, and love. Communicating with each other is more than the spoken word, and Gunny shows us that our beautiful pups are capable of great teachings, insights, and feelings—again, if we are willing to open ourselves, accept the fact that our dogs have a great deal to say to us, and then listen hard. Powerful connections are possible, and Gunny and Laurie connected, intertwined as real soul mates that nothing, not even death, could truly separate. For me, my connection with my soul mate named Clarence is validated as I carry him with me every moment of every day. I highly recommend this extraordinary book to anyone who loves our precious animals who have so much to tell and share with us.
