I enjoy this author’s cozy mysteries so much. I’m always reading one along with my other reading material. They give me moments of light-hearted delight. This book is #12 in the Garden Girls Cozy Mystery Series. The highlight for me in this story is the spunk and fast-thinking of Eleanor. She is a trooper! Also, I always enjoy Gloria and her time with her grandsons. Some interesting finds are made by the boys in this story. Paul, Gloria’s husband, also makes an interesting find in the pantry. If you like cozy mysteries, give the Garden Girls a try!
Gloria is NOT going to let something like a cast on her leg slow her down when there is a murder to solve. Nope, no way, not a chance 😉. Loved every page and especially Alice's spice mix😁. I do have to say that Gloria's "newest investigator" Eleanor stole the show when she went after the killer and I LOVED it! 😊 Who says older women can't kick butt? 😃 A GREAT story to read during my own snow ❄ storm.
I love all of Hope Callaghan's books because they don't have any swearing, sex, or too much gore (there has to be a little to describe the murder)!! I also love them because there aren't usually any grammatical errors. This book had several errors, grammatical and otherwise. Perhaps more editing is called for.
Gloria Kennedy the leader of the Garden girls gets involved with her friends to solve a murder. She is hobbling around with a cast on her leg that she broke on her honeymoon. Gloria gets the Garden girls into trouble while investigating the murder of Ed Mueller who was found in the ice and ending with a surprise twist. Another good read!
Eleanor calls Gloria and asks her to come to her place something is happening. Gloria goes down to the lake below Eleanor's house. Ed is dead, frozen in the ice. Gloria is having a little trouble getting around with her cast. Gloria and the girls have a new murder to solve. Another good story and characters.
Gloria has returned from her honeymoon and the garden club say it has been dull without her. Eleanor calls and asks for Gloria to come over because something is going on on the lake. Humorous story with Gloria trying to investigate on the snow and ice on crutches. Great story
I have yet to figure out how these ladies get into all their trouble. It never gets old seeing how they get int trouble and how quick they get out of it.
This was a heck of a caper, I was definitely surprised at the end by the killer, I was getting worried it was going to be a character I liked. Love the recipe at the end, I’ll have to try that when the weather cools down again.
I absolutely loved it! Another amazing Garden Girls mystery! I love all the new characters! This is a must read series! I can’t wait for the next book!
I just love Gloria and her Christian Principles. Thank you Hope. It is a refreshing change. I love that Gloria is now married. Paul is a great husband for her.
Who killed Ed Mueller and why??? Lord love a small town – I heard from X who heard from Y, who overhears…!!! I enjoyed the story and recommend the book.
Look Into My Ice is the twelfth book in Hope Callaghan’s Garden Girls Cozy Mystery series and is a wonderful cozy mystery. Ms. Callaghan has a unique talent for blending family, friendship, and faith with humor, mystery, and mayhem that provides a wonderful reading experience for her readers. This story is well plotted, with well-developed characters, and an interesting mystery to solve. There are lots of laughs and no adult language, graphic violence, or sexually explicit scenes. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading light, cozy Christian mysteries. I highly recommend this series.
Gloria Rutherford-Kennedy is still dealing with her broken leg and cast but that doesn’t stop her from investigating the latest murder to occur in Belhaven. Gloria receives a call from Eleanor Whittaker telling her that something is happening on Lake Terrace and asking her to come over as soon as possible. Upon arrival at the lake Gloria and Eleanor learn that the body of Ed Mueller, a summer resident, was found half submerged in the ice in the shanty that he sometimes used for ice fishing on the frozen lake. It seems strange to Gloria that he is in town in February because she knew that Ed and his wife, Sheryl, rarely visited the cottage in the winter and that it had been years since he’d gone ice fishing. Rumor has it that Ed is a womanizer and it turns out there is no shortage of suspects.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I believe this is the third book I've read in this series (although this one is book 12 in the series chronology). A lot has changed--Gloria is now married (and has a broken leg that she complains about throughout this book. I sure hope her cast is off by the next book!) For some reason Officer Joe Nelson is always referred to by his full name and title--even though everyone else's seems to get shortened. I couldn't find an explanation in this book for why that is so. And every so often those pesky apostrophes show up in places that they shouldn't be.
I enjoy the series though since it is "Garden Girls" I keep expecting to see gardening as part of the books and so far I have seen very little of it.
If Belhaven's police force truly is as bad as Gloria thinks they are (since she seems to think she's the only one who can gather the clues that will solve the mystery) then the town really needs to get better police officers--or send Gloria to the academy so they can hire her.
Nothing gets Gloria down, I just love that about her. She is an amazing character. I love these ladies. I often have to remind myself they are characters in a book, not real people. You know that's talent when you feel like these are real people. Thank you Hope! Keep up the good work!
Enjoyable read with interesting Michigan trivia about ice fishing, watching for blizzards and sledding. Great recipe for "stick to your ribs" goulash - favorite Michigan original potluck dish. Nothing keeps senior sleuth Gloria down - not even crutches. Great support from her newly wed husband Paul and all her friends. Unexpected twist and teaser for book 13.
This is another book in the series of the Garden Girls cozy mysteries. When Gloria and the girls notice the police around an ice shanty they have to find out what is going on. They discover that their neighbor Ed has been killed and his body is inside the ice hole in his shanty. Gloria and the girls decide they need to find out who would do such a terrible thing. Do the girls discover who killed Ed and why? Read the book to find out.
