Rocky Mountain Bride #6

Rocky Mountain Wild

Rate this book
Phoebe Wilson has had a hard life. On her own from a young age, and cursed with a clubfoot, she answers an ad to work for Scottish homesteader Calum MacDonnell, thinking to prove herself with work. What she doesn't expect is a fierce mountain man, lonely and wild, with a soft side. Even more surprising is when he takes it on himself to protect her from her past, and care for her. Calum insists on treating her like a small child, feeding, bathing and coddling her like a little girl, and disciplining her when she puts herself in harm’s way. But as winter comes, the threat from Phoebe's past closes in and Calum's own demons surface. Can their love for each other win in the end? Is Phoebe strong enough to let Calum care for her as his wee one?

The Rocky Mountain Bride Series follows the lives of mail order brides and the strong frontier men who take them in hand. This stand-alone book is set in the 1860s Wild West and contains domestic discipline scenes, including over-the-knee spankings, age play elements, and anal punishment.

Phoebe has had a hard life and she has to leave her current job and accepts a position as a home keeper for Calum with the hopes that she will acquire some land from him. Calum has been through much more then most people know and it's heartbreaking. I have to say that I love the way Calum was with Phoebe, he treated her as the precious person she is...but he is quick to take her in hand when she needs to be reminded not to do anything to put herself in danger.

“I know it’s been a long, hard road. But, one day, wee bird, I promise you will fly.”

SWOON ALERT! I have just been swept off my feet by the sweetest, kindest, most chivalrous hero ever! His name is Calum MacDonnell and he stole my heart the very first time he crooned "Pleased to meet you, lass" to the wide eyed heroine in that sexy Scottish brogue of his! Physical attributes aside, what I really loved about Calum was that despite the fact that he is a big bear of a man with a stern demeanor, deep down he is a gentle giant with a soft marshmallow heart! He is strong and powerful, fierce and doting, all at the same time.

Sigh! In short, the PERFECT Dom!

But as much as I adore and worship Calum, and could ooh and ahh endlessly about him, believe it or not, that's not the ONLY thing I love about this sixth rollicking installment in Rocky Mountain Brides, a steamy, emotionally charged series set in the Wild West that follows the lives of mail order brides and the strong frontier men who take them in hand. This book enchanted me. Moved me. Left me giddy with joy and enraptured me in shivery delight. It made me laugh. Cry. Ache with longing. Blush with pleasure. And sigh in sweet satisfaction. Bottom line? It is my favorite kind of erotic romance because it is not only scintillating but overflowing with EPIC feels!!!!!

When the book opens, Phoebe Wilson, a comely young women "cursed" with a club foot, twisted from birth, is running from a horrific past. She arrives in Royal, Colorado seeking employment after answering an ad for a housekeeper for rugged mountain man Calum MacDonnell. All her life she has been ridiculed and scorned, horribly mistreated by her own family, which left deep psychological scars. She knows no man would want to marry her or bear her children and simply wants to work hard for her employer so she can earn a homestead and a small plot of land to call her own. But her big-hearted new boss has other plans in mind and isn't about to let the lovely lass resign herself to a life of a lonely spinster. Rather, he aches to wrap her up in his big, comfy arms, dote on, care for and cuddle her, mend his little wee one's broken wing...and eventually help her fly again.

At first, they are locked in a fierce battle of wills because Phoebe is far too proud to submit to his coddling, his tender ministrations, and especially his firm yet fair discipline when she foolishly puts herself in harm’s way. The last thing she wants is to be pitied, or even worse, a burden. Especially to her ruggedly handsome master who sets her heart on fire and rouses forbidden feelings of love and lust in her wayward heart.

“I’m ugly and you’re beautiful,” she wanted to say. “And the two of us can never be.”

But Calum, a kind, lonesome mountain man who has been living in the shadows until he could take a wife, is determined to get through to her, even if he has to turn her over his knee and spank her soundly to get his point across. Having experienced soul crushing heartbreak of his own, he can't bear the thought of Phoebe hurting and yearns to make up for all the suffering and injustice she has endured in her young life. And not as her employer but as her husband, her lifelong mate. The moment he first set eyes on her, he knew she was destined to be HIS and had every intention on lavishing his sweet wounded bird with affection beyond her wildest dreams!

"I won’t stop until you have an hour of pleasure for every minute of pain.”

Before she knows it, Phoebe finds herself married to a big, strapping Scotsman and ensconced in his lodge, with a wolf dog no less!. But can he breach her defenses and allow him to stand up for her and protect her, nurture her heart, body and soul, so she would one day fly free again?

ROCKY MOUNTAIN BRIDE is simply divine in every single way! When I first read an enticing snippet of this book, I got all quivery inside and just knew in my heart this story would be special! But NOTHING prepared me for the myriad of ways it would leave me completely and utterly spellbound. This touching romance about love triumphing against all odds in the Wild West is filled with such palpable emotion, gentle tenderness and quiet majesty it literally took my breath away! Through the sheer power of Ms. Savino’s vibrant prose, intricate plotting and deeply drawn characterizations, she crafted an exquisite story about two achingly lonely souls who find sweet solace in each other.

I just fell so HARD for Calum and his "wee Phoebekins" and rooted so desperately for them to perservere! The bond between this couple was so touching and powerfully intimate it literally made my heart ache. I also appreciated that while ROCKY MOUNTAIN WILD had some naughtylicious Age Play elements, it focused more on the sweeter side of loving correction rather than harsh chastisement.. And the aftercare was oh-so-heavenly!! Let me just say this, Calum sure gave the BEST cuddles!! In fact, I was almost jealous of Phoebe, wishing I could climb up on the big Scotsman’s lap and snuggle up against his warm, burly chest.

And while this romance has all the enticing qualities that constitute a RED HOT read, in my opinion, this kind of character-driven love story is a rarity in the erotic market place that is jam packed with many steamy, sex-driven stories that are simply designed to titillate. At its core, ROCKY MOUNTAIN WILD is a story of forever love and unspeakable loss, of hope and sorrow, of mending what's broken...and learning to fly again. Calum is determined to ease Phoebe’s burden and make her see herself through his adoring eyes. As the most beautiful, sweet and kind lass he’s ever encountered, a woman who is powerful and strong, and deserves to be treasured.

“She’d spent her life cringing in the shadows, hiding away, and it was only in the dark bedroom, lost in the arms of her man, that she felt truly herself.”

Phoebe, in turn, helps Calum heal too from an agonizing loss. She senses a man burdened with a terrible sorrow, “a desperately lonely lost soul who hides a wealth of pain behind his acts of kindness and shadowed grey eyes.” But over time, she gives his life purpose, true meaning, fills his melancholy days with her beautiful, shimmering light. Offers him a miraculous second chance at happiness .

Reading this book was sweet torture. Because even though I wanted to find out what would happen next, I took my time reading it, lingering over each and every page, and marveling at the sheer beauty of Ms. Savino’s gorgeously crafted words, because I just couldn’t bear to say goodbye to these endearing characters!

But, alas, end it finally did, with a FLAWLESS resolution that was packed with drama and excitement and such raw, intense emotion it made my heart soar! If I could give this book a dozen dazzling stars, I would. Yeah, it was THAT good!!! Lee Savino is an author to watch, a bona fide romance book star in the making, and I see a very bright career ahead of her! So as I bid a poignant goodbye to our sweet, swoony Scotsman and his precious wee Phoebe, I take comfort in the fact that hopefully we will get to revisit these beloved characters someday in future installments of ROCKY MOUNTAIN BRIDE!

I can't emphasize enough how much more intense each book gets from the previous one. "Rocky Mountain Wild" was another that brought a tear to my eye a time or two. Two badly damaged people, Phoebe comes to work as cook and housekeeper to Calum in the Colorado Territory. He wanting to take care of her and she wants to prove her independence. Lee Savino lets us see Phoebe's insecurities as we watch the push and pull between her and Calum. With his domestic discipline and his gentle nature he promises Phoebe, she will learn to fly. What a dramatic storyline that not only tugged at my heartstrings but increased my heart rate several times. Only one more book to the series and I'm excited to read it and sad it's the last one.

The sixth book in the series, but it can be read as a standalone, without any problems.

I enoyed Phoebe and Calum story. Both of them catty scars from the past, but together they heal. i love how stubborn and strong Phoebe was, but there is no man more stubborn then a Scot. Watching Calum taking care of Phoebe was wonderful and sweet to read.

This one was very interesting to read. I also was the big gentle giant characters and their gruffiness. Callum was such an interesting and sweet character with a sadness he couldn't shake. Pheobes past was just as heart wrenching and she was the perfect match to Callum. It was lovely to see all the side characters make a return as well.

Calum was introduced in the Christmas short and he more than makes up for his brief appearance. Will Phoebe's hesitation about her "disformity" cause him to deny the passion he is looking for? Or will her attitude make a drastic change?

Spanky domestic discipline with a bit of age play in the wild west. Interesting, occasionally really hot. Occasionally ridiculous.

MY WEE BIRD WITH A BROKEN WING. ONE DAY YOU WILL FLY
Once again Lee Savino brings another wonderful addition to the Rocky Mountain Bride Series. The story is packed full of mystery, suspense, heartache, determination, along with a romantic suspense tale. To say that Phoebe Wilson has had a hard life is putting it mildly. She comes from a deranged dysfunctional family that has treated her worse than most people would an animal. She has run away and been captured and returned to be mistreated again and finally has run away and found refuge as a housekeeper, but once again she is not safe and must hide. Traveling to Colorado to cook and clean for Calum MacDonnell offers her a chance to earn her a homestead and a small acreage of land, provided her family doesn’t find her. Calum and Phoebe butt heads, with her strong determination not to be a burden because of her crippled foot and his determination that he is going to protect and care for her. The plot kept me captivated with this battle of wills unfolds along with secrets. The dialog is emotional and heartwarming. It is fun seeing people from the first five books, but this story will read nicely as a standalone. There is a bonus at the end from an intense scene in the story.

Phoebe was a pretty, petite girl born with a club foot. Because of this she was shy and withdrawn. She had a horrible childhood and wanted to get away From her terrible family. She took a job caring for a kindly elderly woman and worked for her for 10 years, giving her money to her terrible family. Then the family wanted her to marry an old nasty man. She answer an add for a housekeeper for a large sweet mountain man. They were attracted to each other and they were happy except when phoebe misbehaved and then she got a hard spanking. They married and when her family found her they tried to take her but she was saved by her man. This had domestic discipline, some age play, and lots of love. I adored this book and had me laughing and crying and I loved the storyline.

I have read and enjoyed all of the six books in this series. This book, the latest in the series, introduces Phoebe, who has had a really difficult life – not only physically, because of a club foot, but emotionally, because of constant persecution from her family, which has caused her to run away and try to find a home with Calum, as his housekeeper and helper. Needless to say, that relationship soon turns to love and affection, and a lot of spanking by the old-fashioned Scotchman, Calum. Like the rest of these stories, the characters are genuine and the story line makes sense – even if it is in a world that none of us has experienced.

Calum and Phoebe each with something to overcome. Calum with a rocky past and Phoebie with her disability.Together they fill each others needs in a sweet love story. What Phoebe finds is a very sweet, no nonsence man, that takes her in hand for her stubborness and putting herself at risk. This had a bit of age play, and you laughed and smiled at the antics of Phoebe. Calum needed someone to help with the loneliness...He will do anything to keep Phoebe safe from her family and her past. It is a sweet romance with DD, age play and some warm bottoms.

Although I have read & enjoyed other books in this series I was hesitant to commit to this as age play doesn't really do it for me. However, after reading some excerpts I took a chance & I'm glad I did. This is the mildest age play book I've experienced & I have no problem recommending it to anyone. The story centres around a wonderful, caring, lonely man & a woman overlooked by society because of a physical impediment. Really, I found Calum just a wonderful, caring, strong man who treasures the woman who has become important to him.

Outstanding!

This series just keeps getting better and better! Each book stands alone nicely but if you haven't read them you are seriously missing out! I love Calum and am thrilled he found the perfect woman. Phoebe pulled at my heartstrings and together they make a fantastic couple. Wonderful story here that's well written with danger, suspense, romance and steam! Kept me reading straight through!

Another great book in the Rocky Mountain Series. Callum and Pheobe were so good together. Callum had a heart of gold but I had one tiny problem with him but it would reveal too much if I went into detail. Lee Savino has another winner with this book.

Much better story than the first one. Almost bordering on 'little play'. Both the hero and heroine have their own secrets.

Good story! It's a shortish, steamy read. While it doesn't flat out use a variation of "daddy," it definitely is a bit of a daddy/little romance.
