To a young Russian girl raised to respect and fear the Bratva, gaining the attention of the impressive Sovietnik from a ruling organization was a terrifying thing. Alekzander was a dangerous temptation Sacha Urusski had no hope of resisting. Predictably, her heart was decimated and she was left bleeding…with a precious reason to go on. But when Alekzander bullies his way back into her quiet life and offers a confession that absolves him of his sins, rather than celebrate, Sacha is forced to acknowledge an alarming truth; she has now become the villain in their story. Or so she thinks. When the most damaging secret of all is revealed, her final hope dies and she’s left with no other recourse. She must run.

Sixteen months ago, Alekzander Tarasov made the mistake of his life when he annihilated his relationship with his soulmate. At the time, protecting her was his only thought. And he’ll stop at nothing to drag his curvy angel away from her new life and so deep into his world of violence and uncertainty she’ll never find her way out again.

Through a deluge of secrets and lies, disillusionment and broken faith enters a world where loyalty and trust reign. Will Alek and Sacha’s battered love be strong enough to survive? Or will it be a sense of duty that inexorably binds them together in the end?

I'm on a mafia reading streak. Don't judge, you know you've done it.

This was better than the last book, mainly because it wasn't trying to sneak in some 50 Shades of Blah bdsm on me. STOP doing that authors. If I wanted to read that trash, I'd be reading it, not your book. Why is bdsm trendy? Did the furry lined handcuffs industry do some lobbying or what?

Anyrant....
So this book. It's mainly about Alek finding out the love of his life that he made think he was cheating on her so she'd leave him had his baby and he's mad. Yeah, he's mad. Laugh with me about that one. He has no right to be mad after making this completely innocent young girl that was in love with him that he was cool cheating on her and her finding out about it. She walked in on him banging a girl on his desk and he didn't stop the banging (all fake, but still, that's cold). He and his hurt feelings can just stuff it after pulling that. The book is a lot of him moaning on and on about his anger that she hid the pregnancy from him.

This book has a lot of POV's, which they all do, you get to see from the couple's POV and the villain's. I don't mind it, but I found the villain stupid and why they didn't catch him earlier stupid, but maybe that's how things go. I dunno, but I think I would've preferred a different plot on that.

Sacha, I liked her character as she's really all about Lekzi, her daughter, and she's still in love with Alek, even after he was a tool. She's practically a saint for taking him back and letting him be butt hurt and mad about a situation he caused. She's very gracious and sweet.

The plot, I think I had it all figured out from the first chapter from the villain's POV. That was kind of disappointing to figure it all out so quickly. But whatever. I liked the POV's from Vasily and I hope he gets his own book as he's a cool dude. A lot of the bad that happened in the book seemed like things that could've been handled if this mafia was actually working, it's like they were all napping on the job and now how I think of the mafia. These books are too long and definitely not my favorite mafia series.

Alek’s betrayal, sixteen months ago, broke Sacha’s trust in the cruelest way. Sacha was left behind to pick up the pieces he left behind and their breakup cost her half her heart. Now Sacha is keeping a secret – one that changes everything!

I'm definitely having mixed emotions about this book. The writing wasn’t bad but my main problem was that I felt disconnected from both protagonists and I felt no emotional connection with Sacha, the main female character. The author goes to great length to describe the whole Russian mafia galore and the element of romance doesn’t feel believable. Alek was not perfect though. He pissed me off once or twice, but I forgive him because he truly loved Sacha more than his life itself. I couldn’t relate with Sacha and her insecurities and I felt she was a bit of careless concerning her relationship with Alek. Although the story was written with a very slow pace, the romance between the two developed so quickly that I couldn’t feel the inner turmoil which raised good conflict in the story.

There are shocking and exciting moments as well as secrets to discover in this book, but there was just something missing. I couldn't really have a connection with the story, but I saw this book's potential. It has nice characters and an original plot. It is an entertaining book and it is still worth the read.

This book was provided to me in exchange for my honest review.

Title: Ultimate Vengeance
Series: Wanted Men #4
Author: Nancy Haviland
Release date: May 31, 2016
Cliffhanger: Yes
HEA

The Wanted Men series has a continuing plot that is so richly detailed, that it can be difficult to acclimate myself to the large group of characters and the layered plot. Though these are standalone, I really can't imagine skipping the other books in the series before reading this. I skipped the last book and it took me a large portion of the first half of this one until I refreshed my memory about all the players involved. It was slow reading for a while, but once I got past that difficulty I was glued to the pages. The action and suspense was expertly done, I was really impressed with the direction the story took. There were plenty of surprises to keep me on the edge of my seat, most especially...that ending. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I read the twist that Nancy dropped on us.

Sacha was a young woman who was raised to fear the Bratva Tarasov family. They were ruthless and wide reaching in their power. But it didn't take long for her to fall prey to one of the most influential in the family after moving to the United States after her parents' death. The Pakhan's nephew saw her, conquered her, and there was no turning back. For either of them.

Within minutes of meeting him, he'd turned her world upside down, and it had yet to right itself.

The heroine was the perfect compliant and quiet pair for his commanding and forceful presence. Until with one harsh swoop he demolishes their life together and her hopes of happiness with him. She's devastated, alone, and harboring a secret that will leave shockwaves if it's ever discovered.

Alek was not the nicest of guys at times. He was completely arrogant and ignorant to the domino effect that his choice would have. He thought he was protecting her, when in reality his actions had catastrophic consequences. He immediately regretted his deception, and his angel haunted his every waking thought.

How often had he seen her across a busy restaurant? On the street? In a passing vehicle? In his fucking dreams? Too many times to count.

Finding Sacha once again was like the answer to his prayers after 18 long months. He sets out to reveal the truth to her and finally have her back where she belonged, by his side. But he's shocked to find that Sacha is not the biddable partner she once was. She's a woman scorned and she's not afraid to shatter his dreams like he once shattered hers. He was actually fairly patient considering his personality, and his proclivity to steamroll over everyone and everything that stands in the way of what he wants. He clearly treasured her, and would do anything to atone for his mistakes.

I enjoyed Sacha despite her soft personality, she was stronger than she first appeared. She was a survivor, and she stood up to this menacing family repeatedly. She showed a lot of growth throughout the story, and Alek respected her even more for it. But the secret she holds is like a ticking time bomb. She knows it's only a matter of time before everything comes crashing down on her. Sacha struggles with forgiving the pain and suffering she had to endure. There was quite a bit of push and pull between the h/H in respect to them struggling to forgive and move on when the past is completely uncovered.

Though I enjoyed this second chance romance between Alek and Sacha, I have to say that the twisting plot involving the Bratva had me much more captivated. There was a traitor amid the brothers and he was wreaking havoc among those who trusted him. Secrets were being leaked, and family members put in danger. I really liked how this one felt a little grittier than the previous books. The darker side of the Bratva was in full force here, and it had me completely riveted. The pace of the book steadily careened to an explosive ending that left me reeling. Everything converged to one shocking, pulse-pounding revelation that left me desperate to find out what happens next.

Though there is a HEA for the two main characters, there is a major cliffy for the overall storyline of the family. I for one cannot wait to get my hands on the next book and see the tidal wave hit the Tarasovs.

5 Ultimate Stars!!

In Ultimate Vengeance, we’re finally getting the full story behind Alek’s heartbreak. Alekzander (Alek) Tarasov Is one unhappy Bratva Underboss! He is heartbroken and miserable, and regrets his decision of sending his ex-girlfriend Sacha literally running from him, their home, and the life they shared. He made an emotional decision when something horrific happened to a family member….now he wants Sacha back and will stop at nothing to claim his woman.

 photo PicsArt_1464069736217_zpsunemm1n0.jpg

"She was the one woman who could tie him up in f***ing knots and make him enjoy the cramping pain."

I have to say, I love Vassily he has always come across as more of a father to Alek rather than an uncle and this book just solidifies that theory. Vassily has basically raised him to be the man he is today; he may not always agree with some of the decisions Alek has made in his personal life, including running Sacha off, but he’ll support him and guide him with unwaveringly support and loyalty.

Ultimate Vengeance is packed full of drama, suspense, betrayal, loyalty and let’s not forget about Maks’ (LOVE him!) snarky sense of humor. Alek and Sacha were everything I expected and more! I could go on and on about how much I loved this book but I can’t without giving to much away. But I will say this book will keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you panting for more “Wanted Men”!!

"I love you. Passionately and obsessively. You're my greatest weakness and my greatest strength."

Wanted Men fans will love this installment of the series, Nancy Haviland has once again, created a fantastic and engaging storyline. Plus, we get plenty of Maks, V, and Gabriel and the women they love and who own their hearts. I'm looking forward to more “Wanted Men”, I definately looking forward to Vassily book along with Lucian's story (holy freaking hell his retribution is epic!). I also need books for Dmitry, Quan, Caleb, Grigori, Vex, and….well what can I say, I need books for all of them!

My absolute favorite of the series so far. How will Nancy Haviland top this frigging heart-wrenching, stunning installment in her Wanted Men series? She's outdone herself. I'm sitting here, heart beating fast, eyes wide, soooo stoked already for the next installment. This book is huge. HUGE. Aleksander and Sacha have an extremely complicated past. Even though their individual betrayals tore at me, their heartbreak was even worse. They loved (and love) each other so much, but the circumstances that surround their romance are just not conducive to rational thoughts.

The rest of the guys and their women are intimately involved with this plotline, and Vasily takes center stage throughout much of the story as well. One phenomenal reveal in particular blew my mind. Serious. Shivers. The anticipation is going to kill me.

Slow, but steady start.
Picked up around the thirty percent mark.
Once it picked up, a very engaging read.
Great storyline, well developed characters that grew in depth and multi layered!!
Nice romance, had good steam but not over the top.
Really liked the hero and heroine was fine but didn't love her.
Well done story line on the family and mafia life.
Some nice surprises and twists to the story.
The first of the series was my favorite (Gabriel and Eva).
Really looking forward to the next one and excited to see what direction the author takes from here!

3.5 "bring back that loving feeling" stars

OMG! How the hell did I forget about this...GOD DAMMIT!!!

Yes, i was actually very excited for this book, since i loved the previous ones in the series, especially the first book (Gabriel Moretti)

Ah well, it wasnt what i secretly hoped it would be. In fact i got a thrill from reminescing about the russian mafia band of brothers instead... Gabriel, Maks, Vince...

Some parts i liked more, some less...

The anticipation from the main character Alekzander/Alek Tarasov 's determined efforts to get the love of his life, Sacha Urusski back...from the point he fucked their relationship up for the right reasons, believe it or not, that was exciting and enticing! The moment she gave in, and forgave him, well the thrill simmered down for me... :/

And any further action from there on was just there for me to turn the pages but without any further deeper engagement...inspite the big secret that was revealed and the big drama that took place for a while, then it all just easily unraveled, ending it with an opening for the next installment!

I'll admit it! I was scared to read this book!

 photo image_zpsgexasl8c.gif

Vincente Romani's story left me feeling mostly disjointed and disappointed, but bloody hell--I enjoyed this book! I laughed, I whined, released some minor expletives here and there, but I was pleasantly surprised by this story!

This book covers a lot of ground and it's one of those series where it's best that you start with book one and work your way up to this one. That said, the gang's all back in this story!

 photo image_zpsj9vrkg4c.gif

While Gabriel Moretti has long been my favorite character in this series, Alekzander Evgeny Tarasov effortlessly slides into second place. I always thought he was whiny, dramatic, and perpetually sad in the other books, but he sort of stole my heart with this story. I loved the emotional dance he and Sacha Urusski performed together. He had secrets. She did, too. It was a slow, sexy-as-hell burn and I loved all of the messy drama intertwined! Was this story perfect? Nah. I would've liked to see Alek display more of his vengeful side, but atleast the reader does get a peek of his darker self in this book. Some elements of the dialogue had me rolling my eyes and it's bothered me all along that this all-powerful, unified friendship between the Bratva and Gabriel (the Italian Cosa Nostra boss) couldn't produce the mole within their group for so long! Then again, that would make for a long, boring story, so...carry on! It also bothered me that the infamous hacker, Maksim Kirov, couldn't locate Sasha when she went missing, yet he was a treasure chest of information for ALL other things at precisely the right time...

 photo image_zps0519jjw5.gif

Whose featured in this story? The better question would be: whose NOT featured in this story! Not only do we get Sasha and Alek's perspective but also Lucian Fane's, Sergei Pivchenko (Alek's cousin) and Pakhan Vasily Tarasov's as well. Appearances span from Samnang "Sammy" Oung (the always chipper Cambodian housekeeper) to Markus Fane and Tegan Mancuso.

Some of my favorite scenes in this book always included the Pakhan. Vasily (Pakhan of the Tarasov) remains as an influential, authoritative leader: flawed, wise through fiery trials, feared, unwavering, and an astute businessman. I hated him in book one of this series, but his character's always had this great presence and weight throughout every one of these stories and I always look forward to reading any scenes he's in.

Although Haviland's writing style won't work for everyone, I enjoyed this story. All of the blanks were filled in regarding Sacha and Alek's past together, and Maksim's witty banter and chatty-Cathy gossip sessions made me laugh! I also liked catching up with G and Vasily's daughter, Eva. There are some notable deaths in this story, too, but all of it worked together for this book. And that cliffhanger ending?

Priceless! En-joyed!

CHEATING ALERT!
Spoilers!
There’s never an excuse for cheating. A book where the h walks in on the H sleeping with another woman and where he proceeds to not think he’s in the wrong is not romance IMO.

I read this for the Second Chances square for Romance Bingo.

"You're my greatest weakness and my greatest strength."

Y'all. I'm so ridiculously entertained by this series and world the author has created. This is a second chance romance because the hero orchestrated a scene where the heroine thought he was cheating on her because he thought his world was too dangerous for her. I know, I know, Drama-lama but while there are a few romanclandia roll-eye tropes, I completely let them slide on by because of overall enjoyment of characters and story.

I think I mentioned this in a review for another in the series but there are times where the sheer amount of characters and connecting off-shoot storylines gets a bit overwhelming, you need to start at the beginning with this series, but man oh man, I am eating it up with a spoon.

We don't initially get to see Alek and Sacha fall in love or their first meetings, some reminiscing about it, and the romance has a different feel and structure from the usual romance step-by-step. I missed some aspects of the usual route, cheesy romance moments or excitement of firsts but the deeper, real, and dealing with hurts did a great job of making up for it.

With Russian mafia, Italian mafia, Romanian mafia, and MCs (see why I mention an overwhelming feeling sometimes) there is definitely something for everyone. The plethora of characters and storylines is crazy but the author does an amazing job of keeping a pretty tight rein on things. You may find some coincidences or situations a bit unbelievable but you'll go along with it because like I said, it's so gosh entertaining. I love the myriad things there are to keep track of.

The romance might suffer a bit for some because of all the plots going on I mentioned but only enough for me to take away half a star.

THAT ENDING.

Safe to say I'll be sticking with this series and am dying for Lucian's story.
I guess I should also give a fair warning that this one is a little gory, let's just say Vlad the Impaler must be a relative of Lucian. I'm a horror movie lover who has watched more than my fair share of slashers, so I didn't mind the sometime descriptions of acts carried out in vengeance.
Give me MOAR of this series.

Hands down....UV is the best installment in the Wanted Man series!

Alek is my absolute favorite of the "boys". He is the least understood, the least respected because he wasn't really in the "fray" like the other boys, and he's not afraid to display his emotions. Typically, readers would sleep on this dude, but I'm not the typical reader. I knew Alek could be just as deadly as Gabe, V, and Maks!

Sixteen months prior due to debilitating fear, Alek did the unthinkable. Alek hurt his woman and she ran. She ran and he let her not knowing things weren't settled between them. Fast forward to present, a night out with Alek's family at the same restaurant changes everything. Alek spots his woman with another man and goes all caveman and oh GAWD it's the hottest thing ever! I absolutely love Alek's reaction and actions afterwards! This dinner is just the intro and trust me when I tell you the drama escalated quickly! On man! There is nothing better in life than an ALPHA with unlimited resources and support! The drama to reclaim his woman is beyond DELISH!

Oh yeah. The unpleasantries. The mole is revealed in this segment and the things this jerk does makes me violent! I'll leave that right there because well.....he is truly evil and you wouldn't believe me if I told so you must read it....

This book is book 4 of a series. Although it can be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading the books in order. Deets are very important in this series. Stuff happening all the time and I for one am entirely too nosey to miss one thing!

Five gazillion trillion BADASS stars because the BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN!!!!!

Is good to be back with The Wanted Men series. This time we finally got to Alekzander and Sacha's story. Poor guy had been mooning about his girl in the previous book and I can't wait to know what the fuss is all about.

Apparently, similar to Papa Vasily, Alekzander ditched his girlfriend for her own good. Lame, I know. Even his way to get rid of her was worst than lame. Then present time, we found out Sacha was hiding something huge from her supposedly-cheating-ex-boyfriend. Can things get even more complicated?

description

I usually hate this kind of drama that lead to overload of angst, but thank goodness things didn't escalated too far for my taste. The saving grace is they are both still very much in love with each other. On the other hand, I miss seeing them falling in love. Isn't that the most important part of the romance reading experience?

I think readers will appreciate seeing Alekzander in all his alpha glory trying to claim back his woman. He is unapologetic and demanding, at the same time possessive and protective towards the one he considered his. But when he find out the secret that Sacha is hiding, I'm a little miff about his reaction. Seriously? How dare he act as if he was the victim in the situation.

description

Anyway, I feel that Alekzander and Sacha story was overshadowed by everything that took place in this book. Their relationship seems like an afterthought to me especially during the second half. The three couples from previous book make several appearances, which I enjoyed because I love seeing everyone of them. I'm sure those who have been following this series from the start will agree with me. I especially missed Maksim the most, he is an absolutely riot and making me laugh at inappropriate moments.

They have a mole in the family and in the beginning getting the villain's POV really creep me out and provide a good amount of suspense. But I was a little disappointed that he didn't actually make a bigger impact and cause even more conflict in the family.

Overall, I would say plot wise, Ultimate Vengeance had a lot going and I'm intrigued with how things are set up for future books, especially given the fucking cliffhanger towards the end. I KNEW IT!! I'm not sure next book is about which characters, but either Lucian or Papa Vasily will do it for me.

A friend recommended this one to me, she said it could be read as a standalone, but I’m thinking that’s not entirely true. I guess first I should clarify that this book has a new cover/title. It’s currently in KU under Vengeance Bound with a slightly different book blurb. The series follows several members of the Russian (Italian) mafia, I felt like I followed along…sort of…but was lost some, because much of the storyline is filled with the men/mob stuff rather than the couple. (Alekzander and Sacha)

The book starts with the betrayal, and then it takes quite a while for the mc’s to get on the same page. It all works out, and I could somewhat understand the H’s reasoning, but his execution/plan was illogically overkill. I also didn't understand why he went to that much trouble to immediately change his mind. That part could've been better thought out so it made more sense.

Bottom Line- I thought it was ok, but wouldn’t recommend reading it as a standalone, because you’ll be playing catch-up for most of the first half. There are several characters to keep track of, and the secondary (danger) plot is pretty complex, and feels like it’s been around for other books. I do think it would’ve been more enjoyable had I read the other books, so I am going to round up, but I didn’t like it enough to read the other books. The couple’s story is pretty much set straight, but it ends in a bit of a cliffy for another character.

5 THIS IS THE BEST YET STARS!

**I was generously provided with ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review**

I have never made it a secret, I am loud and proud when I say - I am a MASSIVE Nancy Haviland fan.

From the very outset, all those books ago, she swept me away and pulled me deep into one of the BEST mafia series I have ever read.

With each book Haviland continues to amaze me with her originality and creativity as well as her ability to bring so much realism to not only her story but her characters, they live and breathe as I read.

It is a huge testament to her writing style and ability that she is not only able to incorporate so many elements into the plot but also such a huge cast of characters and develop them all so well that you don't get confused or lost when she flicks from different POV's.

With each book Haviland raises the bar higher and higher, as soon as I picked this one up I knew there was no way my mind (or my heart) was going to be released until I finished it...... and even well after the last page was turned I am still being held captive waiting for the next one!

Alek and Sascha were every thing I wanted and MORE!

This book was heart pounding action right from the beginning, it was packed with so many surprises and so fast paced that I am pretty sure there were moments when I stopped breathing all together.

I could honestly go on for hours about how much I loved this book, but I don't want to give anything away.

To all the loyal Wanted Men fans - Trust me, Haviland has once again done us proud. In fact, I am willing to wager she will supersede any expectations you may of had, it is THAT GOOD!

And to the people who haven't read the series yet - PICK IT UP NOW! You will NOT be disappointed..... sleep deprived and completely head over heels in love with a whole bunch dangerous mafia men..... but NOT disappointed!

Alek and Sasha's story was a good 4.5 stars BUT THEN THE END HAPPENED....

5 STARS!!!! OH MY GOD! CLIFF HANGER FEELS!!!!
I couldn't believe it, well okay take that back because I'm a firm believer in "no body no proof" so I had my hopes and...damn. I was in a state of awe-struck amazement! The anticipation for ... that certain couple's story! EEEKKK.

Anyway...
Back to Alek and Sasha. Wow these two had so much to work through. The lies and deceit could've ruined them forever but their love won out. It never left even when they were apart.
And I'm blaming it all on Alek. How he broke Sasha...on the night she was going to tell him some exciting scary news...f*ck him. I wanted to punch his nose and kick him in the balls...repeatedly. Did he deserve what Sasha kept from him? (The evil b*tch in me is screaming YES!) No, but he ruined her and all because he was scared. Because he wanted to 'protect her'. How he broke them though...WHY!!!!!!!!!??????? Why did it have to be THAT!? I understand but I don't care because Team Sasha.

The intense moments, the heart breaking moments, the heart melting moments (and believe me this book had so many), it all worked out in the end and only served to make these two stronger than ever.

I've looked ahead at the next book....and the reviews don't look to promising for what's ahead. I'll have to judge for myself.

With each book I like this series more and more. Alekzander Tarasov made the mistake of his life when he annihilated his relationship with Sacha. He has regretted his decision since then and has been looking for her ever since. We hear about Alek and Sacha some in the previous books. Sixteen months later their paths cross and he is determined not to let her go again. There is angst with their trust. Fortunately, they still love each other and battle to overcome their issues.

While they work out their issues the organization is working to figure out who is reigning terror among them. This book is packed full of suspense, betrayal, & love. A lot of love was shown and not just between Alek and Sacha. I enjoyed seeing it among them all.

I also got excited at the possibility of the next book being about Lucian. But with that ending, I'm not sure who will be next. Either way I'm looking forward to it.

So, as usual lately, H has a scene for h to see him having sex with another woman because he's afraid she'll be hurt by his enemies so he wants to push her away from his life forever and has the audacity to feel cheated when she does do exactly what he wanted ?? How hypocritical can a character be ??? I even thought of rating this book with one more star because it was a pretense (he didn't have sex with the other woman) and the fact that he remained celibate during the breakup (which he himself caused) which is unfortunately rare. nowadays. But I find the author's extreme lack of respect and consideration for his readers to start a series, write books with cliffhanger and simply not continue! If before I had no intention of reading the series because there are triggers that displease me, now the writer has lost the rest of my respect.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

This novel was full of sweetness and angst. I hated how the hero had to hurt the heroine in order to make her leave him. She was such a loving and beautiful young woman whose life was thrown into turmoil after she saw evidence of his "cheating". However, she was strong and held her head high because she had to take care of her baby. Their reunion scene was fantastic ! I loved seeing how jealous the hero acted when he saw her with another guy in the restaurant and thought she had found another lover. I enjoyed the novel but could have done with a bit more romance and a little less of the other characters.

3.5 stars

Ultimate Vengeance is book 4 in the Wanted Men series, and I thought it was another enjoyable addition. Alek finally gets his woman Sacha back after betraying her 16 months earlier but she's not alone. I completely understand why Sacha did what she did and why she continued to lie. How can a woman with little to no means stand against the wealth of the Bratva. Although Alek had every right to his anger it was his own fault so I had little to no sympathy for him. As with the other books in this series the friends are prominent in the story and their bond is always something that I love to read. Overall I like this series enough which is why I continue to read it but it's not a favorite and I'm still waiting for the one to blow me away.

Nancy Haviland has created such an incredible series with Wanted Men, and this book was another hit that left me wanting more. Suspenseful and intriguing, sexy and emotional, Ultimate Vengeance was a thoroughly entertaining story that I loved from start to finish. Alek and Sacha's story wasn't an easy one by any means. We were given pieces of their past in the previous books, and I couldn't wait to get their full story. Knowing the way their separation came to be and the heartbreaking way their relationship ended, I knew this story would be an emotional one.

Much like the other books in this series, Ultimate Vengeance is full of suspense and contains twists that will keep the reader guessing. The author is skilled at weaving intricate storylines that are balanced with just the right amount of romance and suspense, creating a story that is both engaging and entertaining. Alek and Sacha have an uphill battle ahead of them, both with each other and with outside forces that stand in the way of their happiness. I loved the tension between them. It was written well and felt so real, and made for some incredibly hot sex scenes between the two of them. The connection they shared was not purely a physical one, as these were two people who owned each other's souls.

"She was the one woman who could tie him up in f***ing knots and make him enjoy the cramping pain."

The author did a great job with the development of the characters, creating hero and heroine that were fascinating to read about. Alek stole my heart from the very beginning. Sexy, possessive, intense, and unbelievably alpha, he loved Sacha fiercely and that love never once wavered. Although I wanted to throttle him for the life-altering decision he made which caused their separation, I understood his need to protect the love of his life. The way he was with Sacha and his family was so swoon-worthy, and he more than redeemed himself if my eyes. His intensity in the bedroom was so hot, and I loved the dirty things that came out of his mouth.

"Yes angel, get that dirty mouth going, because I'm back, and your p***y is going to celebrate that in a minute."

Sacha was a great character as well, and I loved how relatable she was. She was sweet and loyal, and much stronger than she gave herself credit for. She had a vulnerability that made her so likeable, and I was rooting for her to find the happiness that she deserved. The angst between her and Alek was so intense, and the palpable tension that stood between them was chilling in the best of ways. Haviland's writing is filled with emotion, and that especially came out whenever they were in a room together.

"I love you. Passionately and obsessively. You're my greatest weakness and my greatest strength."

The author has created an amazing cast of characters who are individually unique and undeniably loyal to each other. There isn't a single member of this crew that I don't love, and some of my favorite scenes were the ones where all of them were together. Haviland knows how to write engaging scenes infused with humor that had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion. I loved seeing the men bickering as much as I enjoyed seeing them come together to bring down an enemy. Then there were the women, who were each amazing and strong in their own rights. There is an authenticity to Haviland's stories that is hard to find in other books in this genre, and she writes about the inner workings of the mob in an way that is both believable and effortless. I am so glad I came across this author and this series, because I can honestly say that I am a Wanted Men junkie at this point. I will be not-so-patiently awaiting the next book so that I can get my next fix. This series is one that I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys steamy romance, fast-paced action, and incredibly well-written characters who will have you falling in love with them.

I was looking forward to this story but I was frustrated with the hero, he sets her up to see him with another woman to make her leave to protect her BUT... she was reliant on him for money as he had kept her at home and stopped her pursuing a career so how did he think she was going to live.. and the secret baby story, i didn't feel he had the right to be as angry as he did. After the way he treated her (cheating on her from her perspective) and with his 'mob' connections, of course she wasn't going to approach him.
I did like that they had frank conversations, his friends told him in no uncertain terms about his behavior.
Maybe a reflex reaction but he threatens to take the child away from her and although he regrets that, he gets told to show her more respect. I would have liked her to show more back bone at this point, she gives as good as she get for a while but gives in over this when she had struggled to provide for her child after what HE did. 'I own you' I didn't like that at all. He seemed to think what she did cancelled out his behavior... he created the situation.

Alekzander Tarasov is the one man of the Wanted Men series that I've been dying to read about (other than Lucian Fane). Throughout books 1-3, we've learned that Alek was suffering from a heartbreak from his ex, Sacha Urusski. In Ultimate Vengance, we finally learn what and who was the cause of that broken heart. I have to admit, I'm not a fan of Sacha. Maybe I'm too protective over Alek? I have always had mad respect for Vassily but UV has made my level for him go off the charts! He may be Alek's uncle by birth but make no mistake, that man is definitely Alek's dad! He has raised him to be the man he knew he could be and UV proves just that.
As the first three book in the series, Ultimate Vengeance is packed full of drama, suspense, humor (thanks to Maks Kirov), betrayal, loyalty & love.
I'm soooo looking forward to reading crazy Lucian's story and hopefully Vassily's!!

If I was rating this book solely on plot, character, etc., it would be 3.5 stars. It is a solid update to the series that I have loved. It was fantastic to catch up with Gabriel, Eva, Vasily, and all the rest while reading Alek and Sacha's story. However, I did not love Alek or Sacha in this book - Alek seemed completely unaware of his culpability in their situation and Sacha was far too much of a pushover.

I took 1.5 stars off for the lack of copy-editing. If this had been an ARC, I would not even mention the errors under the assumption that the last round of edits had not been completed yet. The fact that this book was published without any apparent attempt at copy-editing is not acceptable. I have determined that authors and publishers will only bother with copy-editing if reviews hold them accountable for the lack.

I'll get off the soapbox now :)

Keep getting better and better

Can't believe it ended like that. I had no idea who that person trapped in the basement was!! Ohhhh what a twist!!

Loved this one. The storyline was terrific. I know Alek was a jerk a couple of times but he had every right to be a tad upset, even though his actions put everything in motion. I am glad he had others around to remind him of that. Sacha was so strong. I hated her insecurities when with the other woman, because truly she was stronger then any of them. Sexy times to be had too!!

Lots of action in this one. Scary times too hoping no one would die. Got to visit with everyone again in this one. I like that because it shows what a tight binding family they are and how much they love and care for each other. Great story. Loved it
