The Misses Trilogy #2

Miss Man-Eater

Rate this book
Raquel Adams is in desperate need of a media makeover. Her already floundering reputation is made worse by her recent antics, and she doesn’t seem to care. Raquel lives life on her own terms and doesn’t answer to anyone, least of all Clayton Cox, the guy charged with making her a media darling. His take charge attitude is a problem for strong-willed Raquel, but she can’t deny the attraction she feels toward him.

Clayton Cox is the boss, and damn good at his job. He’s hired to improve your reputation and does so by swooping in, saving the day, and moving onto the next one. But he can’t move one from his newest client. Raquel is maddening, and gorgeous enough to make him forget his rule of never getting involved with a client.

Raquel wants Clayton, and nothing is going to stand in her way, not even Clayton himself. He doesn’t know what hit him, and soon finds himself juggling between having to improve her reputation and feign off her advances. But Clayton’s determined to show Raquel who’s in charge at any cost, even if that means thwarting her seduction efforts. And will a series of mishaps mean Raquel is tied to her nickname forever?

Raquel is one of the 3 actresses we already met in the previous book: Miss Congeniality.

She's - obviously - the Man-eater of the group. Only she isn't really. Ever since her mom flipped out on her for showing her boobs to a boy when she was 14, she stopped being that girl. She's only had sex twice. But she does nothing to stop all the rumors and the flirting and the being in the press. But her studio needs her reputation to be fixed asap. And that's how Clayton comes into the picture.

description

Clayton in Hollywood's best spin doctor and he needs all his talents to fix Raquel.

But it's not as easy as it could be - because both are extremely attracted to each other.

Can Clayton keep everything professional? Because a few years ago he didn't keep it professional and it blew up in his face....

What will happen to Raquel & Clayton?
Will the two of them get their HEA?
Will there be a horrible cliffhanger??

description

NOPE - I'm not telling you ☺

description

OK, no cliffhanger - but Raquel's sister will get her own book - so we'll probably meet everybody again ☺
_______________________

I LOVED THE STORY!

description

I really liked the book. It was almost more of a novella than a full-length Romance. But it was cute. And sexy and adorable and frustrating and the guys...phew...Clayton - and his partner Spencer (who will be the star of the next novella - together with Raquel's sister!)

description

Miss Man-Eater was a really cute Hollywood Romance.

We get to meet everybody from the first book again and we already meet the couple from the next book ...but that doesn't mean that Raquel and Clayton's story wasn't the main focus here.

They're really cute together - and it's really funny to see how hard Clayton tries to keep everything professional - but of course, in the end - he never stood a chance against this not-so-man-eating beauty.

description

Something I didn't like all that much - the cover? That's really not how I picture the sweet and sexy Raquel... it looks like the cover for a bad 1982 porn book ☺☺☺

MISS MAN-EATER was a really sexy Hollywood Romance with an amazingly hot Hero! And a not-quite-so-man-eating Heroine!

...and now I'm really looking forward to reading the next book in the series ☺

We met Rachel in Miss Congeniality as one of 3 young women and actors at the center of a young adult TV show, Maggies Place. Rachel is known as the bad-girl of Hollywood, used by men to gain notoriety and a name so they can further their career. Rachel though, is not what she seems and the saying “don’t believe everything you hear” could easily be applied to Rachel.

In Miss Man-eater, Rachel’s forced to work a PR hotshot in order to clean up her image. This is where the fun begins. See, Rachel is used to calling the shots and getting what she wants. She is fodder for the gossiping media outlets and becomes the target of jealous peers and aging directors. Enter Clayton Cox who is is famous in his own right for his ability to change the publics perception of the rich and famous. Clayton is old school Hollywood royalty with family secrets that drive his ambition as a PR rep.

Miss Man-eater is a really fun read with a bevy of secondary characters that enrich the lives of our 2 main characters. This group of friends both challenges and supports Rachel and Clayton and when Claytons plan for Rachels makeover is thwarted by her inability to follow some very simple instructions, he becomes part of the framework. What follows is the flirty dance between the charming and loyal Rachel and the handsome, captivating and yet reluctant alpha that is Clayton. There’s much steam and heat between these two and thankfully the potential for angst is minimized by Rachels self-confidence. Marie’s writing, the tone and her characters will endear you to this fun look at the young and famous in Hollywood.

4 Stars and recommendation!

I just finished Miss Man-Eater and I really enjoyed it! This is apart of a series with Miss Congeniality is the first but can be read as a stand alone. Raquel is known as Miss Man-Eater. She screws them and spits them out. Which is so far from the truth but her reputations is in tatters and Clayton is hired to clean her act up. What they don't expect is to have intense feelings for one another. Clayton will not ever date a client, he has a one bad experience but it was enough to say no. Raquel will do anything she can to have him, she senses that he could be good for her. This will test both of them for they are both stubborn and they both always get what they want.

I really enjoyed this story. Marie has gotten her characters under my skin and I don't want to let them go. This was a good storyline and I cant wait to see what she comes up with next. I loved the characters. Raquel was such a spitfire, goes after what she wants but still has vulnerability. Clayton was such a hottie. His stubbornness was what appealed to me, plus his dirt mouth! I loved their chemistry, it was sexy and hot!

I cant wait for more!

5 Sweet Stars

This book was given to me for my honest review by the author

We have all heard the saying “Looks can be deceiving” at some point in our lives but really what does that mean to our everyday life? Does it mean that what we see is not really the truth? Does it mean that we can play dress up and pretend to be anyone that we so desire without hurt or complication? Does it mean that what lies truly within ourselves is not truly what we portray to the world as we know it? Does our truest of oneself complicate our existence? When behind the hidden door do we not take off our armor and be whom the world does not see?

This is the 2nd book in Misses Trilogy the first is Miss Congeniality

Raquel-sweet and pure?

Clayton-reserved, hot and hunky

Raquel is the woman that can catch any mans eye by just one glance. She is outspoken, funny and witty but she also is hidden. Hidden to a man that is supposed to be getting her back on track to where she needs be. Perception is what one thinks they see but in reality it is what we make others see. Sometimes it is just as hidden as the true self of Raquel the secrets that are hidden to protect the ones she loves. As with secrets they are can come out at the wrong times will Raquel keep continue to keep these secrets close to her heart or will she show the one man her true self?

Clayton is a man with a damaged heart. He has been hurt, and with a complex heart to heal of his own he trusts no woman with it. But what happens when a woman comes a long that you think is as damaged as his own heart? Will Clayton be able to let his heart begin to heal or will he do what is needed to provide the best without letting his heart begin to heal and soar in ways that he never thought possible? Will Clayton find a forever?

Raquel and Clayton’s journey is complex, sensual, hot and erotic. It is what it is a hard and very rocky start with Clayton not admitting his true feelings. Raquel is also trying to torment the man with the golden tongue in trying to find his true heart but along the way she lets out that tormenting Clayton is the way to admit her true heart to him. Will Clayton and Raquel find and be able to keep their forever or will an unknown person take all that has been accomplished away from these great loves?

To the author: Thank you so much for this most amazing read. This review took me sometime in putting together not because the book was complex but getting the review just right is something that I strive for. The complexness of these two strong characters was challenging and funny. You created many proverbial brick walls that each character didn’t know was being placed in front of them but knew they were at the same time conquering these walls within this read was heartwarming and funny too. Kudos

This was an amazing 2nd book.

To the readers: Enjoy

Happy Reading

☆☆☆☆ 4 ☆☆☆☆

The first time they met, they felt a spark neither one could ignore. But because Clayton past, he swore off dating clients….she brushed off what he felt and acted like a d*ck instead. But Raquel felt so much connection that she wasn’t letting go. From that day on she made it her goal to win his heart, if it’s the last thing she’ll do. As she says “GAME ON”.

The next weeks lots of flirting happened, gift sent back from both sides. Sexy pictures sent, anything and everything Raquel could think of, she did. She wasn’t letting this sexy man go without a fight.

 photo MissManEater-Teaser.jpg

Clayton became hot and cold with Raquel fighting his own feelings, sometimes he comes in full force with a kiss she’ll never forget. Sometimes he can’t get a hold of himself go straight to her, sucking on her n*pples. Then shoves of his feelings like nothing happened. But again Raquel wasn’t giving up, she kept on fighting to win his heart. Will Raquel ever win Clayton’s heart? Or will he tell her to quit her advances before she gets hurt? Read and find out.

This book is a lighthearted short read, at times laugh out loud funny or just plain sweet. Raquel is quite a chick and nothing at all what I thought from the first book, way to go with Raquel’s redeeming qualities Author Marie Garner. She’s so much more than the image that the media had painted her to be.

I also enjoyed this book and the relationship Raquel have with her family and friends.

I cannot wait to read about Spencer, he seems like such a sweet guy. =)

First of all, this is the second book in The Misses Trilogy but you definitely don’t need to read the first book to enjoy this one.
Miss Man-Eater starts with a prologue which provided the background that helped me understand Raquel, but I still found her difficult to understand. Clayton was also a bit of a mystery, but the questions that I was asking myself ensured that I kept reading this book as fast I could. I love a puzzle!
When Raquel and Clayton first meet, it’s for business reasons. Raquel’s reputation is causing problems in her acting career and Clayton is the spin-doctor whose task is to ‘fix’ her. She ends up annoying him during the first meeting. Both wonder how the arrangement will work out and so did I.
Just when I thought things would work out, secrets cause arguments and I’m left wondering again. I’m not going to tell you if it does work out or not because you need to find out for yourself.
I gave Miss Man-Eater 4 stars.

this book was awesome it had a great story line, steamy, hot erotic scenes. Raquel is sweet lady who stays pretty much reserved, though she's whitty, funny and can be sassy she's afraid of being herself.
Clayton is hot, sexy and has had his heart broken. His trying to heal and by doing so he's decided to not trust so easily.
we have two very beautiful people who have very strong feelings for each other but afraid to leap. their relationship is rocky and uncertain at first but when these two are together it's explosive. Can they survive the hurdles of past and present. really enjoyed this book. 5 out of 5.

DNF at 57%. Ugh. This book really wasn't for me. I couldn't stand the characters, it seemed too fast and sporadic. Maybe reading book #1 would have helped, but I think this is just not the series for me.

Miss Man-Eater as an enjoyable sweet and romantic story that told the story of one of the three Misses readers were introduced to in the first book of the series Miss Congeniality. I have been intrigued by the character since I first read about and found that I really enjoyed both of the main characters.

Raquel is so different form what I was expecting, as she is perceived as a Man eater that uses guys and spits them out. However, she wasn’t like hat at all and was a caring and loving character that was just given a bad reputation from the media. I felt for her when she was being targeted by the media and the ways that some guys treated her within the book. I adored the parts of the story when you saw the way she loved and cared for her little sister.

Clayton was a complex character that has previously been burnt in a relationship. This saw him holding back from his feelings for Raquel when it was clear from the start he was attracted to her. My heart broke for him when he was told the truth about his mom.

Miss Man-Eater tells the story about Raquel Adam who is also known as Miss Man-Eater is in desperate need of a media makeover and see hers hiring someone to take care of that for her. That person is Clayton Cox who works on improving clients reputation and he has a strict rule of not starting a personal relationship with his clients. But when he meets Raquel the connection and attraction between them is instant.

Clayton and Raquel were perfect together and I absolutely loved them when they were together. The chemistry between them was off the charts and there were plenty of steamy moments between them. I found in this story that there were a few moments were I cracked up laughing, especially with the character Roxy who readers are introduced to in this book. Marie Garner knows how to write a story that really captures my attention and has me wanting more.

I received and voluntary reviewed this book. This book was read and reviewed by Stacy Aube for Cutting Muse Blog Review.

This story is about Raquel, the bad girl of Hollywood. Men use her to further their careers, even though all is not as it seems. They bring in Clayton to help clean up her image. Their chemistry is magic. Another great read, I need to read more.

I started this book, and could not put it down! Miss Man-Eater was absolutely amazing and had me finishing this book in one sitting!

Miss Man-Eater is Raquel Adam’s story. We met her in Brea’s book Miss Congeniality as part of the Three Misses, and she’s in desperate need of fixing her reputation so she can keep her job. If you’ve read Miss Congeniality, you know Raquel is the spit-fire of the group, the out spoken one, and the girl you all want to be friends with because she has no problems keeping you in line and telling you what is up.

As we get to know Raquel we get to see there is so much more to her than what we thought. She isn’t what her reputation is, and instead of fighting it, she just embraced it because it was easier. Now that everything is in shambles though, she needs the help of the Hollywood spin doctor Clayton Cox who Raquel seems to be at odds with at every twist and turn in this book. Maybe it’s because she’s insanely attracted to him, and yet annoyed by him at the same time.

Clayton has one rule, never get involved with his clients, but Raquel seems to push past all of his defenses and slowly worms her way in. Watching these two play their cat and mouse game is hilarious and fun. You know it’s going to happen, but all their banter back and forth and their fighting makes you know it’s going to all be worth it when they both finally give in.

These two are a match made in heaven, but reeling each other in is a different story. Even when they figure out that they can’t deny the thing between them anymore, Raquel still pushes Clayton’s buttons to get a rise out of him and he still tries to help tamper her and her reputation. Watching things go so well for them, you know the bottom is going to drop out from under them and when it does I was like NO! but thankfully Marie Garner didn’t make us suffer too bad before fixing it for us.

I adored watching these two fix each other and themselves in this book as well as getting to see more of Brea, Lance, and Clare, and getting to meet Ainsley, Spencer and Greg. I have come to adore these characters and their stories, and am looking forward into diving into Clare’s story next! If you’re wanting a sexy read with a lead female who doesn’t take any crap definitely pick up Miss Man-Eater today!

✯✯4 Man-Eating Stars!!✯✯

This is the second book in The Misses Trilogy and for me I liked it a little more then the first book. Why? Raquel and Clayton. These two were so different yet so perfect for each other. They healed each other from the people that damaged them.

We meet Raquel in the first book Miss Congeniality and learn real quick she's the load mouth and not afraid to fight. But, when we meet her now she's still this way. But, looks can be deceiving!! Being in the spotlight does not help her reputation. Guys use her to get what they want. But, when Raquel doesn't give them what they want they trash her publicly. Then, you have her short temper and loud mouth. Now her job is at risk.

Raquel is sent to Clayton. He can turn around any actress or actor reputation completely. He knew of Raquel. But, he wasn't prepared for the real Raquel. ESP when she sets her eyes on him. Clayton was attracted to Raquel was instantly as she was to him. The problem is that Clayton got burned a while back from a client turned girlfriend. He has sworn off dating clients.

To help Raquel turn around her image he wants to set her up with his best friend/business partner Spencer. Except it backfires in the public. Now Clayton agrees to date Raquel in the public. Help her image. Even thought it def helps her image drastically. It hurts them both emotionally. Raquel wants Clayton and bad. She's also scared because she's not the girl everybody thinks she is. Clayton wants Raquel but he got so burned he is so confused. He's running hot & cold.

This was a quick read. And, it was really nice to see everybody from the previous book. I really loved Raquel's younger sister Ainsley. I am glad her and Spencer are getting their own book. They totally deserve it. I am disappointed that I've anything about the third misses book. Clara is the last we've read about. I hope she's getting her own book. ESP since she is the 3rd misses in the series. Other then that this book was really cute, man was it hot. I'm looking forward to what's next.

I was so excited to read Miss Man-Eater because I absolutely loved the first book and Ms. Garner did not disappoint me! I loved this book! It was a fantastic, fast, fun and easy read!

Raquel "Miss Man-Eater" Adams does not take crap from anybody. She's a blunt, in-your-face b*tch that you don't want to mess with. It sounds harsh, but she'd be the first one to admit what I said is true. There is much more to her than the tease-mean-girl-man-eater though. She's fiercely loyal and protective, determined, stubborn, and a fighter, but she also has a vulnerable side that had me loving her and her becoming my favorite heroine in the series.

Clayton Cox. What can I say about Clayton Cox? He's kind of serious and broody and a jerk sometimes, but he's hot, so it works out for him. Clayton is definitely an alpha male; he's possessive, commanding, and very take charge. That's not to say that he can't be sweet and tender though. He was a great hero and while he might not be my favorite guy because Lance still is, I really loved him!

Miss Man-Eater will make your heart ache a little, but it's a pretty light read for the most part. It was funny, entertaining, and I loved, loved, loved the sexual tension between Clayton and Raquel! It was so HOT, especially when they were when they were driving each other crazy!

I was so glad to visit this little world that Ms. Garner has created again. I know I'm in for a good time and I just love the characters, the humor, and the heat. Miss Man-Eater was so wonderful and OH MY GOSH am I stoked but a little afraid to read the next couple of books because--WHOA--and the little synopsis for the novella that's going to be in series--well, my mind is just spinning!!!

Miss Man-Eater is a standalone, it's told from Clayton and Raquel's POV, and they do get their HEA. There is a cliffhanger, but it involves the other characters. It's going to be a crazy wait to see what happens next!

4.5 Stars: Miss Man-Eater has a very different vibe than the first book in the series. This book was Raquel’s from start to finish. Her story was every bit as spunky and honest as Raquel is. Marie Garner opened the story in a way that allowed an immediate connection to this character. I felt for her from the moment the book began and that feeling carried throughout the story. After Raquel’s Hollywood reputation leads her into the office of spin-doctor extraordinaire, Clayton, who isn’t the type to walk on eggshells, the drama between them unfolds. As they attempt to curb the negativity in the media surrounding Miss Man-Eater, they’re blindsided by the lust, jealousy, and insecurities that build between them, making for one electric story.

Marie Garner gave Raquel’s character depth and substance that ensured my investment in her happily ever after. Clayton’s no-bullshit attitude made him the perfect match for the feisty Raquel. They butted heads and verbally sparred, resulting in an intense friction between them that refused to go away. This story packed some serious heat and Marie Garner made sure her readers were feeling it. The evolution of their relationship was perfectly infuriating, unapologetic and steamy and I enjoyed every second of watching Clayton and Raquel reconcile their feelings.

The surprising part of this story for me was the secondary characters. I fell in love with Raquel’s sister, Ainsley and Clayton’s friend, Spencer. These two had a connection that really had me curious and they added another dimension to the story. Marie Garner’s writing continues to grow with each new project and I enjoyed getting to know another one of the Misses. I loved seeing more of Brea and I’m excited to see more of Raquel and Clayton in the future when they’re more settled. Full of unexpected connections and emotions, Miss Man-Eater was a quick read and a fun addition to this series!

Well, in Miss Congeniality Raquel was kind of the crazy one and in Miss Man-Eater we learn where that crazy actually comes from. The gang returns for Raquel's book which is something I love in a series. When we can keep up with everybody along the way. In the first book Marie Garner gives us a glimpse of the Raquel and Clayton situation, so you already know there's a bit of contention between the two.

Raquel is also a star on the show Maggie Beach with Brea and Claire. Like Brea, she has a bit of a past that follows her around to this day. Her mother was an awful shrew that constantly put her down and as soon as her sister Ainsely was able to defend herself, Raquel was outta there. She makes it big on Maggie Beach and the rest is history. Because of her striking looks and the fact that every single date she goes on, real or not, makes it into the papers, Raquel is labeled the man-eater of the trio. Only her good friends know the truth, however the show wants her image cleaned up and hires Clayton the "spin doctor" to do just that.

Carrying around a past of his own, Clayton isn't the easiest guy for Raquel to get along with. Not real into the Hollywood type, Clayton treats Raquel like any other spoiled star, until he gets to know her better. Going against his rules, Clayton starts to fall for Raquel and hopes this time turns out better than the past.

The dynamic between Clayton and Raquel is great. Nothing like a little power struggle in life and in bed. The more we learn about each character, the more you see they are meant to be together, however it won't be easy unless they can each move on from the past.

Miss Man-Eater is a great addition to the Misses series and Marie Garner sets Ainsley up nicely. The book is well written as you get lots of angst and some steamy sex along the way. I'm ready for the next one!

**I received an ARC for an honest review.**

Okay, so I am just gonna dive right in here. I initially chose to review this book because the synopsis said that is was Mafia, but it starts off MC and then it all just switches. It's not really either in my opinion. This book did not do if for me, nothing about it was a good read for me. I did not connect with the characters or the storyline at any point while reading. I actually hated Cain right from the start and there was never a redeeming point for him in my eyes.

Now, I did like some of the plot twists regarding her parents and a few other characters but to me it did not flow well with the way this book eventually went. From the beginning I was guessing the reasons for what Cain did and why he would do them, but when all the secrets were revealed, without any build up, they just fell flat and again did nothing for the overall story.

When we first meet Calla and Cain they are 18 and have just eloped and gotten married and we all know by the synopsis that it falls apart quickly. When we meet them again I automatically hate Cain and the way he treats Calla. The excuses he gives for the way he acts don't make any sense to me especially with where this book goes.

I think I could go on and on with what I did not enjoy about this book, but I know how hard an author works to write and publish a book.

This book just isn't for me.

The sexy scenes just weren't sexy, the emotional scenes did not pull anything from me and the suspense just fell really flat. Things and characters came out of nowhere and just didn't flow well with the past, present or future. There were just too many things going on with this storyline too many wholes in the plot. I will not be continuing this series.

Let me start by saying that this was the first book that I have read by Author Maria Garner. I enjoyed the story; thought it was a fun read although I did not connect with the main characters. This is the second in this trilogy but there was enough background that you did not need to read the first book.

Raquel Adams is a leading actress but with a sign around her neck that screens trouble for all men. But in reality that is farthest from the truth. She has allowed everyone to think that she is someone else. Raquel never corrected anyone about the rumors that have run wild with her personal life. But she is in need of a major image makeover; that is where Clayton Cox steps into her life.

Clayton Cox is the go to man to help anyone clean up there image for the public. He is the best at what he does. And he plans to show Raquel Adams, just how good he is. Although he has a rule of not getting involved personally with the clients, there is just something about Raquel that pulls as a spot inside Clayton that he hasn’t felt before. But he tries his best to stick to this rule while Raquel does all she can to get him to break it.

The plan for Raquel to start dating just one person and be seen with him, does not go as planned. This causes Clayton to step in and be the “boyfriend” that she needs, for the cameras and fans to begin with but feelings and desires start to play havoc on his will to keep it personal.

As they explore getting to know each other, Clayton does his best to keep the relationship out of the bedroom. But he is a man after all. Will Clayton be the one to tame the Man-Eater?

Sassy and Sexy

**ARC provided in exchange for a honest review***

This was a great read from beginning to end. If you're familiar with this series than you know that everything is not as it seems. Raquel Adams is know as Miss Man-Eater and needs to revamp her image to stay on TV. Enter the delectable Clayton Cox who is spin doctor extraordinaire. When Clayton and Raquel are in the room together sparks fly but Clayton refuses to get involved with a client. Unfortunately faith has a timetable of its own and what faith wants is these two together. In this delicious tale you're taken on a whirlwind journey filled with sizzling chemistry, hilarious antics, good friends and a wonderful storyline that captures your attention and holds you hostage the whole way through. I enjoyed this story tremendously and can't wait to see what's in store next.

3.5 Crazy Stars!

I liked this book but it didn't seem to flow well for me. It felt choppy and found myself going back to re-read parts because it would jump in time in the middle of chapters. The drama part seemed to fall flat for me. There needed to be more reaction or something. However, I did enjoy Raquel and Clayton's dynamic. Their banter was so funny and helped bring the rating up. It kept me turning pages to see what outrageous thing Raquel would do next. The surprise at the ending was the ultimate saving grace and bumped the rating up because now can't wait to read Clare's story.

I received this for an honest review.. This is the second book in this series but both can be read as standalone s (THANK YOU). This was a nice fast hot read. It was a bit different than the first because Raquel is a little more edgy than Brea was in the first book. Which is a nice contrast. I absolutely love the relationship between these three women. I also really enjoyed the fiestiness of the relationship between Clayton and Raquel..

This is a good easy read that you will enjoy!!!

4*

Having read the first book in this series I couldn't wait for this one. I really liked Raquel's story and her journey to how she got the name Miss Man-Eater, I really liked the twist behind how she got it. So Clayton is sort after in Hollywood to make you look good and get your reputation back on track. Raquel needs him and the build up to their relationship is so funny. Enjoyed how Raquel pushed the boundaries of their relationship and Clayton. Now waiting for book 3!!

Clayton and Raquel's story was interesting. I loved that their story paralleled His father and mother’s story in a lot of ways. They had intense chemistry when Clayton wasn’t trying to play the cold shoulder. I really loved them as a couple. Miss Man-Eater is a win for me!

**** I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book****

Less Miss Man-eater and more misstep.
Silly story that jumps all over the place making for a cliche filled romp that isn't quite over the top enough to be campy. The characters fell flat and the tension between Raquel and Clayton seemed to be missing.
