The Sonnets

Rate this book
Gracefully built and evocatively rendered, the sonnet offers an aesthetic delight like no other form of poetry. Its uniqueness lies in its terse structure that precariously balances the exuberance of fluidity that its subject might evoke, and its rhythm that enthusiastically responds to the sonic freedom of the letters of an alphabet. Even though modern poetry has witnessed the construction of various poetic genres and forms to meet the needs of a more malleable literary landscape, sonnets continue to remain in fashion, challenging poets time and again to send their muses to find the rawest passion of their beings.

The Sonnets anthology is a special edition that celebrates the work inspired by the poetic style. In this collection, you will find poems that lovingly contribute to the untamed moments of those sonnets that create just the right moment for both the readers and writers to jump right into a world that is marvelously built of language and imagery that are fierce and intuitive.

Shinjini Bhattacharjee is a poet, writer, and the founding editor of Hermeneutic Chaos Literary Journal. She considers herself to be a lexical photographer who loves to rummage through language to find words that smell like infinite spandex, and weave them into images to cloak her experiences and emotions. As a student of English Literature and Creative Writing, her favorite adventure sports is to confront emotions suddenly in all their masquerading complexity. She spends half her waking time reading novels and poems like the brown crinkly pages of a lost book, and the other half, stuffing all her thoughts inside the 26 alphabets. Her poems and essays have been published in over 30 literary journals.
