At first she intrigued me...
Dr. Anne Bennett was stunning, but that wasn't what caught my attention.
She amused me...
Her sarcasm, her introverted anti-social behavior made me want to peel back all the layers and see what she was so intent on hiding.
She resisted me...
Which only made me want her more. I would thaw that frozen heart of hers.
Then she became my obsession...

At first he annoyed me...
Dr. Ian McClellan, Founder and CEO of my newest employer somehow decided I might be of interest to him.
He pursued me...
I fought him as long as I could. This wasn't going to happen again.
He confused me...
He made me feel for the first time in a long time - whether I wanted to or not.
I let him in...
And that might have been my biggest mistake.

We are both shattered people that hold our secrets close. We couldn't possibly begin to understand how to be halves of a normal whole. We have our pain. We have our pasts. We are shaped and shifted to suit and yet we found each other. We are perfect in our imperfections and we fit...
Until we are ripped apart.

No! Definitely don't read this book!

If you're interested in this author read This Guy Is Killing Me. I couldn't finish this book, the characters are ridiculous, and she has NO idea of how research labs work! The "hero" is a selfish, self centered asshat who is upset by collaboration among his employees. In addition he is upset by the heroine demonstrating expertise in her area of research. The very knowledge that could help his company. REALLY- read This Guy Is Killing Me - it's a dark comedy romance that could use some editing and doesn't tie up all the loose ends but is totally worth reading.

WOW!!! You never really know what you're going to get when you pick up a new to you author. To say I was impressed and enamored would be an understatement. Ian and Anne are both independent over achievers. They (as well as the story) are presented in a way that is riveting, enticing and real world worthy. The personal perceived weaknesses in her characters only add to their individual strengths and enabled them to flourish as they did. I attest the characters' development and depth to the author's confidence, maturity and life experiences, and I am truly grateful that it wasn't a lot of fluff. Anne's a top notch scientist working in the pharmaceutical industry who has a life upheaving moment right from the start. Despite her accomplishments and track record, she is threatened with being black balled in the industry. Much to her surprise, another company comes calling - clear across the country. She ultimately accepts. On her first day there, she meets Ian. Ian owns the company and hadn't been in the facility in a very long time. Anne has no idea that he is the owner so their initial interactions are even funnier for the reader - as well as the reactions of the other staff in the building to his presence. They have instant chemistry, but Anne does her best to hold him at bay. As the story progresses (and the plot thickens - it really does thicken) they become closer emotionally as well as physically. The events of the book seem to happen in real time. By the time I got to the heavier twists and turns, I had a vested interest in everyone's well being. That's how well this book was written.
Why not a full 5 stars? Well, that's a tough star for me to give in general. In this instance, I was left with a couple of questions. Also, despite the length of the book (I can't believe I'm saying this), but FOR ME the ending was a bit rushed for all that happened.
Fair warning - this is a LONG book, but it is so worth the read. I love the fact that it was presented as one title because I hate cliffs. I love that Anlyn took the time to develop not only the characters, but their early lives and the entire story as well. It wouldn't have been the same if she had cut 100 pages somewhere. I highly recommend this read - strong characters, fantastic story line, chemistry, great sex, suspense, true love and friendship. This book has it all and may just gift you with a book hangover.

Fantastic read!

This was a great book! It's longer than most books but I liked that. The beginning could be considered slow by some but I felt the author was just building up the main characters personalities to the AWSOME last 40% of the book. The ending was phenomenal!
