This is the tenth instalment in the series and it is still going strong; a hard feat to achieve in an alternate universe setting of magic and mystery. I think these stay fresh because each book, though part of a whole, could conceivably be read as a stand-alone if you really wanted to. (I mean, I wouldn’t, but you could), and also because the author brings a different character to the forefront each time.
This book centres around Jure, and to a lesser extent, Vraya, and brings new dimensions to both characters. At this point, Vraya is still quite a new character and it was nice to gain a deeper understanding of her, but the really enjoyable thing for me was to learn more about Jure. He has always seemed to be more of a “supporting” character and it was nice to have him as a central storyline and see how he deals with change and emotional upheaval.
Of course, within this time of change, Ryson still has his own dilemma to deal with, and the threads are brought together beautifully, and make for a fantastic showdown with long reaching results for future books.
I am looking forward to the next ten books! (one hopes)
This is the tenth, and far as I can tell, final book in the series. The book/series itself is still going strong with plenty of action, suspense, and drama to match the first book. This particular one ties the complete series together and is well worth your time and effort to read.
