Haunted by her past and reeling from her sister's murder, Jenna Renfield thinks a cruise is just what she needs to get away from all her troubles - including gorgeous, but irritating Dave Runningbear who seems to have nothing better to do with his life than have fun and chase women. Not that he chases her, of course. She’s glad to be the exact opposite of the women who normally fill his bed. One day, if she keeps telling herself that, she’ll actually believe it. When Dave learns that Jenna ignored his warnings about the dangers of traveling alone, he slips aboard the ship and stows away in her cabin. He’s hoping that a little time alone will help her see past his playboy image to the man he really is. Maybe then, he can convince her that she’s a woman worth loving – and not just for a single night. Unfortunately, love may have come too late for them because they soon discover they are trapped on a ghostly cruise ship and death is its destination. Can they find a way to escape before it carries them beyond the mist?
Robin T. Popp grew up watching Star Trek and reading Nancy Drew, Robert Heinlein, Sharon Green and Piers Anthony. She loved the daring and romantic exploits of heroic characters on grand adventures in otherworldly places. It wasn’t long before she wanted to write such tales to share with others. Though she was forced to take a thirty-year detour through the real world – which certainly wasn’t without its share of adventures – armed now with two masters degrees, a fulltime job and a family, she has taken the first steps toward realizing her original dream of becoming an author. Too Close to the Sun, a futuristic romance published in July 2003, was her first novel. Out of the Night is her second novel and represents her first foray into another of her favorite alternate realities – the realm of vampires. Robin lives southwest of Houston, Texas with her husband, three kids, three dogs, two frogs, one rabbit and a mortgage. She is living the American dream.
I can't believe that a certain goddess would do that 2 a innocent without really knowing all the facts 1st. Dave should have not been with alot of women just 2 show off. Even though he had a bad experience in his past he should have realized about his spirit mate asap not b4 it was 2 late. It's good that posidion give her what was deserved under the circumstances. I can't wait 4 more asap.
7.5 of the Immortals series. Jenna Renfield, Mai’s ex-neighbor and Dave Runningbear, Nick’s roommate are attracted to each other, but a god has different ideas.
Has it’s interesting moments, but kind of corny mostly.
A quick and intriguing read. It did feel a little overwhelming with so many characters mentioned in the beginning from other books. I hadn't read The Haunting, the book just before this in the series. The only thing I thought was kind of weird was the "trial" Poseidon gave Jenna and how Poseidon makes unbreakable deals/contracts that he apparently can alter to suit his needs. That just seemed a bit of lazy writing.
A decent story and worth reading, especially if you've read the rest of the series (I'd read all the novels except the Haunting) but I'd suggest reading the Haunting first as you'll see several characters from that book here.
This was a quick read that was packed with suspense, magic, hot scenes and a HEA. First time with this author but her writing flows and the editing was good. Will look for more of her books.
This was a good book. Definitely not what I would normally read. It was a nice easy and fast read. I may have to read more like it between larger books.
