Angel's Curse

Rate this book
What lengths would you go to for revenge?

Helena is furious beyond belief. She can't forgive the angels for what they did to her, and Danizriel — one of their own kind — who sought only to help her. Now she's out for revenge.

A coordinated blitz takes place on the solstice and thousands of vampires lay waste to the angelic host, in an attack orchestrated by Helena. In exchange for her help she receives three weapons from the time of the fall — powerful enough to destroy archangels.

With three archangels down and one to go, Helena gambles with her soul to pull off the kind of bluff that even Satan might fall for. If she loses, the devil takes it all.

Melanie Tomlin was born in Beeston, England. At the age of three her family moved to suburban Melbourne, Australia, where she has lived ever since. When she was twelve her parents bought her a typewriter, and she wrote her first novel that very same year. She still has the typewriter, which is somewhat worse for wear, but that first manuscript is now nothing but a distant memory.

Her first published book, Angel's Kiss, was released in 2015. The next four instalments in the 'Angel Series' -- Angel's Curse, Angel's Messiah, Angel's Body and Angel's Demon -- were released over the next three years.

For a change of pace, and something a little different, Melanie also published a book of poetry called Twisted Poems of a Warped Mind and a children's picture book called Lucy Vampoosy: The Little Vampire Dog.

Melanie is currently working on the sixth book in the 'Angel Series' -- Angel's Apocalypse.

This stunning novel packed with bloody action and full of unexpected scenes will just take you on an emotional roller coaster ride. Angel’s Curse is the second installment of the Angel Series written by Melanie Tomlin.

Which of them were truly the monsters? I thought. Those that had no choice – labelled monsters because of what they had become – or those that did not resemble monsters in the slightest, but were just as cruel? – Melanie Tomlin, Angel’s Curse

Angel’s Curse was all about Helena’s taking revenge for the death of someone she loves. As she seeks help from everyone she can ask for, she will discover things that she never thought would be so different from what she knows when she was still a human.

I am really so happy when the author granted my request to have a copy of this second book for free! I really enjoyed this one, especially this is not just about vampires or such creatures, but this also tells us what really happened to Satan and the other Angels. This is just like a retelling of the Bible stories with a new twist so you’ll enjoy reading it.

The rush of my blood was as fast as the action that had just happened. I cannot still forget how cool Helena is and how she really kicked those stuns! When something terrible happened to Danny, all I wanted to do is to scream, to curse, and to shout some hurtful words just to get rid of this pain that escaped out of my heart. This is so heartbreaking! It is devastatingly painful!

“Death has found you and it hungers for your soul.” Melanie Tomlin, Angel’s Curse

It made me cry and cry until I stopped reading it for a while so I can breathe. Whenever I continue reading it, my tears would just fall on my cheeks because I can still feel the pain. It is like my heart was ripped out of my body, and it was crushed into ashes. That’s how good the narration of this book is. Even if you don’t want to, you’ll get attached to the characters as if you are them.

I loved how playful yet bad-ass looking is Helena here. She really makes me want to cheer her every time she fights. I can also feel how painful it is for her to lose someone she really loved and how she is so enraged to have some revenge.

Melanie Tomlin really did an excellent job! She created a book that I’ve wanted to read, a new and unique novel that will make you so emotional and will touch your heart. I am now excited to read the third book that I got from the publisher via NetGalley.

This book is pretty unique with an interesting version of the story of the fall of Lucifer, and some of the experiences of one heavenly Angel in particular. I have to say that I really enjoyed this book!

This story is about Helena an earthbound angel who is pretty unique and Danizriel her heavenly Angel lover, who saved her and continues to protect her until he is hunted down by others of his kind. This story starts off with Helena and Danny hiding away in a secret cabin protected from their enemies. Here you learn more about how they met, some of Helena’s unique abilities, and how she is very similar to vampires. Helena requires blood for sustenance preferring vampires, but can drink even angel blood. She is able to absorb their essence and alter her DNA to mask her presence or blend in with the creatures she wants to making her the ultimate chameleon. During one of her experimental outings while Danny is sleeping soundly, pretending to be dead to their enemies, Helena gets lost in hunting her prey. Once she gets back though she is painfully aware that something is very wrong, obvious by the door hanging from its hinges and their home trashed in every room. Desperate to find Danny and fearful of discovering him hurt, she searches frantically for him everywhere ending in the garden outside. Here she discovers that he has been crucified and that the only way he can come down is by being released by the one who placed him there. He implores her to kill him before he is thrown from Heaven and becomes a fallen angel bent on her destruction.

Left with no option but to kill the only person who has ever loved her, and treated her well, Helena does what she must. This act changes her outlook on life and the enemies she once had. Now instead of hunting other supernatural being like vampires and zombies, she conspires with them to help her hunt her new prey. Heavenly Angels…. but more specifically Archangels.

While I only found the first book okay, this was did something that very few books do, it made me cry and I had to stop reading for a minute and when I picked it back up I cried again. When a writer can make you so invested in their characters that you can cry over a scene that says something. Helena, Danny and Drake are wonderful characters and their world is a unique one as are the talents that Helena initially had, the ones she was given and the ones that are developing and evolving.

I do think that a lot of the sex scenes could be left out, yes I understand the life she came from but does it have to be shoved down our throats?

Angel’s Curse—the second installment of the Angel Series—is your ticket to heaven and hell. This novel is packed with heart-thumping and heart-shattering scenes that will make you want for more.

This novel proves us that love knows no boundaries, that even Helena literally traveled Heaven and Hell, just to perfectly laid her plan of taking revenge for the death of someone she truly loves.

As I read the book, the first few chapters were perfectly stabilized that when the sudden twist of the story—yes, it all happened in just one flick of the page— you could literally feel your heart, wrenching in pain. I will not go into details about what happened but trust me, it really is devastating.

Every chapter of the book was not wasted—it was full of information that you should take note of. Every small detail of the book—even the small conversations held a big information that will either be used in the latter part of the story or somehow, *coughs* in the other books. *coughs*

Melanie Tomlin’s way of writing will get you hooked on the characters that rather of reading the story, you’ll feel like you are in the story. Every emotion and every happening feels like you are experiencing it, first hand; from the sweet, romantic feeling to the tremendous, grieving until the fiery rage—you’ll feel it.

Well, Kudos to Queen M, our beloved author for creating a book that tackles some part of the most sensitive book—the Bible, yet she could carry out the tweaking of the story with great finesse that—well, in my opinion, she created a better version of the Bible.

As the story flows, there is a scene that depicts God, and believe me, the way the author describes Him left me goosebumps and what God did in the story was very God-like. I mean, the kindness, the forgiveness—everything, it somehow reminds you that whatever happening to your life now, God is always there, and He has some great plan for all of us. Maybe without the naughty scenes, I could say that this book can possibly categorize as a spiritual kind of book.

4½ stars. This was almost perfect! Many unexpected plot twists and surprising events. A real pageturner. Helena's and Danny's (and Drake's) story is continuing in a very interesting way.

Even though I really didn't have that much time to read during the days I read this (meaning I was forced to read it in bits and pieces), every time I was able to grab the book to read "a few pages", I always ended up reading like two to three chapters. And the book was always on my mind while I was not reading it. Really very hooking!

The story is turning out to be so intriguing, and so new. I've never read anything like it (though I've read a lot of fantasy/vampire/angel books), and that's very refreshing.

I've already began reading the third book in the series.

I loved the first book, Angel's Kiss, but this one is even better. It is a roller-coaster of a ride and I couldn't put it down. Helena is put through the wringer in this book and Melanie Tomlin takes the reader along with her. I felt completely drained by the time I finished the book, which was so late it was almost time to get up. Helena continues to grow in power and her relationship with Danny is what grounds her. In this story she learns more about Heaven and Hell than she wants to and finds that is is not always easy to distinguish between the good guys and the bad guys. It is full of twists and turns and impossible to know where it is going until it gets there. I recommend this series to anyone who likes unique and thrilling.

An emotional roller coaster ride! Angel's Curse (Book two in the Angel series) was AMAZING! I can't remember the last time a book made me cry. In this book Helena sole reason for living is to get revenge on the angles who stole her world. You go into the depths of hell and up into the heavens. Hold onto your seat as you go for the ride of your life! So glad I found this series!

Angel's Curse By Melanie Tomlin.
4 out of 5 stars.
The Angels have waged a war on Danizriel and Helena as they burnt down the forest in which they live. But it doesn't stop there, Raphael binds Danny in unbreakable ropes as he hangs him up and crucifies him, leaving Helena in the position of having to take the life of the man she loves to save him from being sent down to hell and tortured for eternity.
But hell has no fury like a woman scorned! And Helena sets out on a quest to find all the archangels that hunted them down, especially the one that took her lover's life!
And so begins a long journey taking her down into the depths of hell to see Satan himself. She needs his blood to kill an Archangel but will he give it to her? Is the price he's asking for it too much for Helena to pay?
I recommend this book for all fantasy lovers especially those into angels, demons, monsters and vampires.

I cannot get over this book! Received a copy from the author herself and was super grateful, but the five star rating had nothing to do with that at all.

I am in love. If I thought the first book was awesome, this second instalment is even better. With a great plot and character development, Angel's Curse is definitely a must-read for you guys, paranormal romance and urban fantasy lovers.

The plot and twists regarding the usual angel and demon myths might be my favourite thing about this book. Melanie Tomlin had delivered a totally fresh and original re-telling. Although you might not want to delve in if you're extremely religious and cannot handle a few fictional tweaks here and there, but if you're not, go to the nearest bookstore and get a copy of your own right away.

The author's amazing writing style had sucked me right into the story. One second I would be cheering on our heroine, Helena, for being so awesome and badass and the next thing I know I am crying my eyes out—not giving away anything here—and then back again. The whole novel is definitely an emotional rollercoaster, in a good way. I can't even say I hated any of the characters here even the bad guys, oh well except Raphael.

Overall, if you can't see it from my paragraphs above, I am totally and utterly in love with this book. If I could force everyone to read it I would, that is how much I am obsessed. Thanks Melanie Tomlin, for the wild journey through heaven and hell.

They just keep getting better! Angel's Curse (book 2 in the series) is even better than the first.
It starts out a little slower but hold...you're not going to believe where it goes. A unique telling of good against evil and how the lines are crossed, of vengeance, of undying love and things are not always as they appear.
This story has moments of heartbreak and sadness, humor and sarcasm, lust and love, action and acts of revenge, surprising alliances with surprises around every turn.
You dont want to miss this!

'This review was based on an early copy of the book and the opinions are solely my own. Boy howdy did I go thru every emotion with this book! I literally got teary eyed, worried and felt elation with Helena. Her character is so real it's just scary with all the flaws of a horrible childhood yet still a heart of righteousness . I can't wait to read the next this series is addicting in all the right ways with it's morally evolving supernaturals and devolving moral angels!

Freaky good

Miss Tomlin has done it again! I love her writing style and how she brings the story to life. She explains enough for you to understand everything without scratching your head and wondering what's going on! There's a lot going on yet you don't have to go back to understand the back story

A second volume, just as good as the first. It's a little darker, but that works well here. Good, good book!
