Carina Adams, an Amazon and international best selling author, is an avid reader who loves the epic and unconventional, has an unhealthy obsession with Stanley Tucci, loves the sound of Johnny Cash, is the crazy friend your mom warned you about, has a heart and soul as black as the coffee she drinks, believes you’ll see her compete on Survivor one day, and hopes to go through the stones and find Jamie Fraser.

Carina has been writing and creating characters for as long as she can remember, allowing her to fall in love with the next man of her dreams with every new story. None of which are anything like boring Prince Charming.

Thankfully, fate stepped in and granted her the ultimate wish—a life full of men. Carina lives in a tiny Maine town with her biker-turned-businessman husband who keeps her on her toes and their two heathens who made her realize that wicked chicks do, indeed, lay deviled eggs.

3 ⭐⭐⭐ - OK decent reads.
======================

Then after shutting my door and sitting on my bed, he ran his hands through that beautiful curly blond hair and told me about his mistakes over the last few weeks. He’d been seeing someone else. When he’d woken that morning and seen her and not me, he’d run straight to me to beg my forgiveness.

As much as I would love to blame her for getting involved with a married man, it’s his fault. He took a vow, he made promises, and he broke them.

Not only had my best friend told his girlfriend, a person he knew I hated, the most personal details of my life, but he’d talked about cutting me out of his. I was shocked. Nothing had prepared me for that revelation.

Everyone wants to focus on the good times. But when you highlight the good and try to forget the rest, you're only cheating yourself. Every fight, every angry word spoken, every stressful situation holds a lesson to be learned.

“Taylor.” His lips thinned in a hard line, and he leaned in close. “I told you I wouldn’t be alone. You left anyway.”

1 Not For Me Stars

Just my opinion but I did not enjoy this book. I didn’t like either main character and I thought Jo and Matty had a very odd relationship. It felt like they both were emotionally cheating on their partners , although Jo was separated at the start of the story.
I ended up speed reading. It was very violent in places too which I thought was a bit too graphic for my taste. I read to escape and this book did not meet my expectations.

Lots of glowing reviews so please don’t be put off by my review.

I am so glad I read both of these books together in a boxed set. Jo and Matty wow, I mean wow! They have a chemistry that bounces off the pages. They are both a little to stubborn for their own good, and a few things they do seem a little young for them, but I think loving the other makes them not so smart at times. I want to see so much more from them, and from this series. I really would like to read Rockers story. One thing that majorly stuck out with these stories for me, and I don't know if it was intentional by the author, is how Jo perceives herself and how others do. Jo sees a overweight, flabby, mom body, and all anyone else describes, is hot, beautiful, curvy. I think that is great to see this struggle from a normal mom, and not the "perfect" super model bodied women we usually read about.

Review:
“She didn’t move, and as I reached her, my hands circled around her, yanking her into me, and I claimed that sassy mouth of hers. It wasn’t one of the gentle, sweet kisses she loved; it was rough and full of emotion, and after a few seconds I felt her lose control as she tangled her hands in my hair and moaned into me.”

5 honey stars!!! What a great box set!! I was definitely hooked the minute I started reading it!

This set includes two separate books and both are just as good as you can imagine! It’s an MC series, but it’s a little different than the MC books you’re used too. I loved Jo and Matty’s story, it’s unique and so sexy! The stories a so fast paced, you forget you are reading a book, you get so involved with their stories! Definitely worth the read!!

This is a box set of both stories centered around Matty and Jo; The Bastards MC. Always Been Mine and Honey Whiskey.

Josephine Walker and Matty Murphy were best friends. Their lives were never intertwined romantically but that’s all about to change. In the first book we follow the two through their friendship. You don’t learn much about the MC in Always Been Mine as its centered more on the direct relationship between our two lead characters and the forces in their lives taking them away from each other.

The second book Honey Whiskey focuses on answering the things we wanted to know and left us wondering in the first book. You get more of an insight into the club as well. What I found unusual is that the club is a one percenters MC but they don’t deal in illegal events. I couldn’t get that out of my head because that isn’t the norm. However I did love the reason they took the law into their own hands.

I found the need for two books not necessary as the second book took a bit for me to page through. I wasn’t consumed by the suspense that was dealt and I felt there could have been written to sweeten the pages. I can say I do hope to read more from Carina as there are numerous secondary characters I would like to know more about. Rocker is interesting and hopefully we will get more from him.

Thank you Carina for the ARC. Click this up and give it a shot. Give me some more drama and suspense! Looking forward to another read. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Hmmm

The start of this book was extremely slow. Plus I just wasn't into it. I kept feeling that I missing something. So I wish I could give it a better rating. But I just cant.

Lay it Down by Carina Adams was a great 5 star read.
There are two books in this set - Always Be Mine & Honey Whiskey.
In Always Be Mine we get to know Josephine and Matty. At first it didn’t feel like an MC book, it gets more MC about half way through. Jo and Matty are best friends and have always been there for each other. When Jo and her husband separate Matty is there for her. Jo starts to really see Matty and their friendship for what it really is. As they explore their feelings, Matty has secrets that he is concerned will cause Jo to go back to her husband. Of course things get even more complicated with the exes, and secrets. This causes a heartbreaking separation for these two. Will they be able to come back together in book 2?

In Honey Whiskey I had a level of frustration with Matty and Jo. Could these two not stop fighting for one moment and enjoy each other? Jo ends up rooming with Rob (who I absolutely loved) at his and Matty’s place in Boston. Jo has plans for Grad school and needs to look for a job. Jo starts to learn a lot more about the club and isn’t quite sure if she can fit into Matty’s world. And Taylor, OMG I wanted to rip her hair out. The book takes quite a horrifying twist that really shocked me.

Both books were fast paced and kept you engaged. I would highly if you're looking for a great read. I would love to see more from Rob and Matty’s sister. Be prepared to go on an emotional rollercoaster with these two. For me it was well worth the ride. Thank you Carina Adams for a great read.

The Lay It Down box set contains two books - Always Be Mine & Honey Whiskey.
I love an MC series, this was slightly different to your normal MC. The first book Always Be Mine, gives a background story to the friendship of Joey and Matty. I thoroughly enjoyed this story although the focus was not on the MC club, it was more in the background. This book has a love triangle, which is not the sort of story I tend to read usually. I'm so glad I read this book though. Carina has a way of making the characters come to life as you read and you become thoroughly invested in them. This book is a friends to lovers story, and has a focus on loving someone even with all their insecurities and faults. It is a very intense story full of romance, drama and angst.
The second book Honey Whiskey the Bastards MC plays a much larger part. I loved the second book, the alternating point of views made for a really interesting read. The bastards are protectors, although a 1% club they don't deal in illegal arms, drugs or prostitution. They are protectors:
"If they knew about us, about what we would do to them when we found them, then more abusers would turn themselves in. I hoped one day, even in a blind rage, the name Bastards would halt a batterer's fists. Until that day, we'd hunt them down like the animals they were. And I would enjoy the fear in their eyes when they realized what was about to happen."
All the questions that were left unanswered in Always Be Mine, are revealed in this book. I fell in love with several of the alpha males portrayed in this book. This story has a bit of everything, romance, suspense and angst. The characters were great I really hope Carina Adams writes more of the stories of the members of the MC. I would love to read Rocker, Tank, Dean and Tiny's stories.
Carina Adams writes a really entertaining book, I was both laughing out loud and crying at points in these books and they were really hard to put down.
The only thing i found difficult was the way in which the Boston accent was written phonetically (brothah, nevah) I often had to think a bit more what the word was as i was reading, I also noticed a few errors that were missed in editing.
Overall I would give Always Be Mine 4 stars and Honey Whiskey 5 stars.

This was a complex series and at times hard to complete. I enjoyed the cast of characters and Lay It Down is a box set full of MC cast of characters- it has the books-- Always Been Mine and Honey Whiskey.

Always Be Mine- Josephine and Matty (Jo and Matt) are best friends and have been there for each other. When Jo and her husband end up separating , Matt is there for his friend. That is when Jo sees that, during the time she has Matt have been spending together, she and Matt should have been together and that their friendship is special and that she has deeper feelings and would like to act upon them. As they get deeper into their feelings and start to feel out and go with dating slowly, Matt has some things in his past that he hasn’t told Jo yet. He is afraid that if she were to find out, she would back away and leave him completely and go back to her husband. There are some twists and turns and the MC aspect starts to show up midway thru this book and then ramps up toward the end which when the secrets come out, there is a terrible break between Matt and Jo—You get the angst, the pain in this book along with passion and sexual tension. I loved it. The author is able to bring out everything and bring it to live.
Honey Whiskey is the continuation of Jo and Matt’s story and in order to understand what is going on, you need to read “Always Been Mine”. That is, if you would like to get a better understanding of what is going on. This is where Matt has left Jo. Matt has really messed up and in order to go back, Matt knows he has to pretty much walk thru coals of fire to get back to his love, Jo but it wont be a walk in the park. He is going to have to fight for her and for the relationship. Its really bad and its going to almost a fight to the death. That’s how bad it is. In this book the MC aspect is brought to life more. The angst, the pain , the passion and the fever pitch and the intensity is brought further home in this book and I loved how it worked and how the author really worked the aspects here . Jo and Matt came across as likable and I liked them and rooted for them. This is a great box set and I definitely recommend them.

My rating: 4.5 stars **** for both books

Always Been Mine and Honey Whiskey follows Matty and Jo through a wild ride from us getting to know them as best friends with significant others to becoming lovers. Here is the thing, she thought she knew him. He has secrets and he is afraid that she will leave him if she knows them but she really does know the real Matty. Things happen which cause them to split but you can't stay away from your soul mate. This is an MC book, more apparent in HW but still an mc nonetheless. At times I was stuck into the story, other times I thought there was to much going on but enjoyed it anyways. I thought the characters had a lot of depth and the storyline was intriguing. A good read!

WTH was this?!

There was too many unclear things that didnt make sense at all. I dont understand any motives. OWs actions, Hero doing see saw between her and heroine. Why? Everything was vague with long ass paragraphs of monologues..

I wanted to like this book but alas the vagueness and over the top secretiveness made me hate it. Also what was the deal with the heroine chasing after the hero. I mean I dont care what type of Ow he is with but he was emotionally cheating on her with the heroine. I dont think they even had broken up when they kissed for the first time so I think there was cheating there too. OW was simply mean, so much so that I cannot believe such people exist.

So, I seriously couldn't put this book down. I'm so tired from barely sleeping the past couple of nights and still having to get up and go to work. It was totally worth it though. Matty and Josephine have a beautiful story that is ugly at some times. I felt so much for Matty and couldn't imagine how it would feel to be in love with my married best friend. I loved this book and really hope there are more books to come with the secondary characters.

NOO!! Why did it have to end :'(

It has been quite a while since I gave a book 5 stars but this read was absolutely breathtaking and I could not put it down: It was well written, the characters had great depth and the story was different from anything I have read before.

These characters have a past and they have scars which make them seem incredibly real. They struggle, they fall and then they rise from their darkness with help from each other. I could not imagine better characters to read about.

Well done <3

Two for one, this is amazing box set.
In Always Be Mine we get to see the story of Joey and Matty friendship and you feel apart of thier story even the twist and turns.

Honey Whiskey
Matty has regrets but none as big as losing Joey, Being in the MC requires commitments and Matt is proud of his MC but he not risking losing Joey again and he will prove himself to her.

Wow! Why did this have to end?
I've been fully invested in all the books regarding those amazing Ba%^rd MC guys in the last 2 days and I am now lost it's over... I could read about those guys all day long!!!
So this time is mostly the story of Matt and Jo.. god I wanted to bang their heads together at some points Haha so much back and forth.. so much chemistry.. so much looking after each other without actually admitting their full thoughts and feelings.. so much angst!!!
These guys are just so perfect for each other.. they just cant see what's good for them and go for it!
Love them both and all other side characters involved in this series.. I would love to get more stories about the other MC members too at somepoint. Rocker is perfect.. Matt is hot.. Tank is fantastic.. Bear I just wanna hug him.. and Dean just needs to find his perfect woman!
Absolutely fantastic writing!

The low score for this book isn't because of the storyline. I liked the book and thought the author had a great story to tell. However, to get through this story, you almost need to be a teacher reading a student's essay. There were so many grammar, punctuation, and spelling mistakes that I kept getting so frustrated trying to interpret what the author was trying to say. Bored was spelled board. Several times quotation marks were in the wrong spot so it was hard to see where the conversation dialogue was ending or beginning. I feel that if an author is going to devote time and imagination to spin a story that will captivate the reader, then the best version needs to be published. Even if the book is self published, have someone that you can trust proof the book. I feel like a good editor is all this author is lacking.

It's hard to review this book. I almost stopped reading it cos where was the mc in it? Not in this book. Then there was jo n matty, both of them so goddamn annoying! Yeah I so would have had a problem with their friendship too. If my hubby has a friend like her we'd be divorced simple. I found this book frustrating and at times just wanted to quit but I kept on cos I'd read the synopsis of book two n wanted to read that. No is frankly pathetic and behaves like a teenager. Didn't like her at all. Matty is the same! Annoying!!! Honestly I don't know why I kept with it. But as I e read book 2 I'm glad I did. If you can get past this book one it's worth the effort.

Book 2 was more like it, finally got some mc biker story into it. More energy n action and dark at times. But definitely enjoyed this book more. They still annoyed me and no really didn't redeem herself till the end of the book.

This is a two book boxed set. Wow, what a roller coaster ride! I found it hard to put down Jo and Matt's beautiful love story. The beginning was a little slow, but did lay the groundwork for the rest of the books. I truly did not want the books to end because I was enjoying them so much. Poor Matty with his secrets that he thought Jo would leave him over, and Jo with her body self-esteem and body issues. I really felt so much hurt for each of them. I envied Jo the love she felt from Rocker, Hawk and the others. This book makes me wish I had that kind of love and protection in my life. Can't wait for Rocker's book....and hopefully more in the series.

OMFG!!!!! What an amazing set of books. I had read Unfinished Business last year, but never went back and read this and i'm kicking myself that I waited so long. It was wonderful, frustrating, happy, sad, devastating and swoony sometimes all at the same time. Carina's writing is amazing and I felt like I was right there with the characters as things played out. For me this book is all about family and what you will do to protect it. I sure hope there is more Bastards MC Books in our future.

The Bastards

I've read this book numerous times and I fall in love with the characters every time. This is such and encouraging love story. Matty and Jo are the perfect couple. Skating around each other for years to finally realize they are in love with each other. Its such a great story and I can't wait for the next installment.

I read over half way through this book to realize I had read it before. Didn't make and impact the first time nor the second. I was drawn to this book because it said Bastards "MC" I wanted and MC book but this book really wasn't. An MC was involved but it wasn't a biker book. Slow read, a little boring.

Action packed, strong read, but sexy too!

Matty has always loved his best friend Jo, but she's married to Will. When Will cheats, all bets are off. This book is a romance, with a touch of thriller and a big helping of bad boy. Couldn't put it down until it was finished.
