Kat
I didn't need another arrogant jerk to distract me from my career.

But there was something about James I couldn't resist, despite how wrong it was. The ex-Marine took control every time we were together, and it felt so good to let him.

Despite how he made me feel, I couldn't shake the conviction that he would destroy me.

James
Manipulating people is an art, and I'm Michelangelo.

My name is James Stratton. At least, that's the name I'm using right now. I'm a con artist. A grifter. But I only steal from assholes who deserve it.

Kat has no idea that I'm her childhood friend. I've changed. Grown. Matured. And I'm back to get even with the girl who broke my heart.

~~
Steal is a standalone romance with no cliffhanger and a happily-ever-after ending.

Steal is the first book I have read by D. G. Whiskey and I can honestly say it turned out to be nothing like what I expected. I think, in my mind at least, I was leaning toward more of a somewhat sappy, sexy romance with an alpha male and a weaker female role. I was wrong. James (or Alex as we later find out) is a con man – and a really good one. Hes more of a Robin Hood than a straight up criminal though. Is he a thief… technically yes, but he steals from the rich criminals and gives the money back where it rightfully belongs.

Kat works for ARCANE, a cyber security start up company whose claim to fame is they are impenetrable. Or they claim to be. Is it just a claim or can they put their money where their mouths are? James wants her bad. Or does he just want access to the secrets her companys security systems are hiding? What about Nick – the arrogant jerk of a boss – what’s his story?

Ohhhh…. this book was good. The suspense. The action and drama. There was a little of everything and a whole lot of sexy! Their were several twists that I seriously NEVER saw coming. Steal was one of those stories that was hard to put down. It kept me actively engaged right up through the epilogue.

Now for the technical part.

Character development – I usually like to know a whole lot about my characters, especially the main ones. I want to know exactly what they look like, how tall they are, what they had for breakfast, if they paint their nails. I mean, I get super nosy intimate with these people. This author did not. I felt like she was focused more on the story than the characters (totally NOT a bad thing at all) – 3.

Storyline – The storyline flowed at a very fast pace and was extremely well developed. I was never tempted to skim or skip. Very nice. – 5 all the way

Cover – Seriously? – 5

Overall readability – I had a little bit of trouble keeping up. I think its because, for me anyway, the characters were just a bit underdeveloped and the story was going so fast that occasionally I would get lost and have to go back and re-read a section just to catch up. – 4

I happily give Steal by D. G. Whiskey 4**** WickedGoodStars!

Thank you for the opportunity to read/review this book!

So we meet Kat who is having car troubles when in steps James,a knight in shining armour,or so it would seem.

James is an ex marine, but also a con artist. Kat has just scored a job she feels she isn't worthy off at the company ARCANE. Things aren't what they seem with James, who knows more about Kat and ARCANE than he leads her to believe.

James enters into a relationship with Kat under false pretences, but when he falls for her he realises he can't give her up, but when danger comes they must work together to stop it.

For me there could have been a bit more background story for the main characters more details but the story was good and was well written.

I received this book in return for my honest opinion.

I love books that are about military men and this is one of those. The two MC have a tie that comes out later in the story which when you start reading the story, you can get the feeling there is something more .
James Stratton is an ex-marine but he is also a con artist. He has a target in sight and her name is Katherine. She works for ARCANE, a cyber security company. See the thing I mentioned earlier is that Kat and James are old friends but she doesn’t know this. He looks different and she knew him under a different name- they knew each other in high school and she knew his name as Alex and were good friends but something happened between them and were no longer friends. Now James/Alex is back and he is out for some sort of revenge .
He somehow ends up being in the right place when Katherine has car trouble –he helps fix it if she will go on a date with him. Guess what, he fixed it and that is how the “relationship” started. James/Alex has a grudge against Katherine when it is silly and wrong. Katherine didn’t do anything wrong and he would have found out but he held on to this grudge for so long. As James spends time around Katherine, his eyes are slowly opening and he sees that Katherine isn’t the bad person he had thought for so long.
The chemistry between them is Electric and the passion insanely awesome. This is a wonderful 2nd chance romance where the stakes are raised since Katherine doesn’t yet know this is really Alex…the clock is running down until she finds out—will their new love survive or will James/Alex lose her again?
If you like suspense, action, angst, romance, passion, betrayal , lies, secrets , hope, and one alpha hero then you will LOVE this story. I found this story to keep my interest from the get go.

My rating: 4.6 stars *****

Let's start with Kat. She's having car trouble and the sexy and mysterious James comes in and fixes her car! He bargains for a date in return. He knows who she is but she doesn't know who he is! Her childhood best friend! It made me wonder how she wouldn't remember him considering they spent all them years together! We find out that he is a con man and this is where the con starts! He targeted her because of the company she works for and also he wants to humiliate her for something she done 10 years earlier which leads me to not liking him at the start! Why hold a grudge that long?!!
As the con goes on he can't help his feelings getting involved! I dont think his partner in crime, Addison is too happy about it either and she does something sad in retuen! Kat really likes him but is a bit weary as she always has the tendency to pick the wrong bloke but she does let her guard down only to find out he's not who he says he is! We find out him name is Alex and not "James" and that's when she realises who he is!!
I changed my opinion of him when he saved her life from her nasty and vile boss! Who was a totally evil villian that you just love to hate! I was kinda hoping James would turn it around and he really did.
Can't wait to read Addison's story now!

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is the third book I read and review from author D.G. Whiskey and I have to say it was great, she doesn't disappoint with her writing skills. This's the story of James Stratton ex-marine and a con-artist and Katherine who works for ARCANE, a cyber security company, they were good friends in high school but something happened and they parted ways. Now later in life they meet again, but Kat doesn't identify him as her friend Alex from school. James is a really good con man and he wants her bad or does he just want to use her to get secrets from her work? The chemistry between these two is off the charts. I hated Nick, he's Kat arrogant boss. The plot is full of drama, suspense, secrets, a little mystery, action, good and a hot romance. Steal is one of those books that is hard to put down until you read the last page. Thanks!! Can't wait for more amazing stories from this author.

A little cat and mouse game between two old friends, a smart but snarky con woman and a slimy head of a security company who is much worse than what he looks like on the outside.
Kat and James are a sexy but hiding-secrets-from-each-other couple who meet again under suspicious circumstances and become torrid lovers all while she is trying to cement her new job and he is trying to play a big con. It has a lot of fun moments, espionage in the office and a bit of violence but with an exciting storyline and a very neatly tied up HEA ending. Another enjoyable book from D.G. Whiskey with the possibility of more spin-offs with other characters.

Suspenseful and Hot!!!
Will have you flipping pages to find out what happens next! A thrilling and hot read!
James Stratton – con artist, smart, tattooed sex on a stick, and harboring a major secret. He has a score to settle and Kat is his target.
Katherine/Kat has recently started a job that is a highlight to her career. It’s stressful and her douchebag boss doesn’t make things easier. When things aren’t going so well one morning, she comes across James. Arrogant, sexy James, she knows he will destroy her but she is unable to deny their connection. When she finds out the truth, she is in for one hell of a ride!

" Too late now. I did the right thing. Getting involved with a bad boy like him would feel incredible - it always does- but it would just lead to trouble later. " (16)

***ARC given for an honest review***

This was a new author for, and for the most part I did enjoy the book. I was able to read this book in one sitting, a quick and cute read. This book is about Kat and Jake. Kat works at a start-up internet security business and is on her way to work when she encounters car trouble. Enter Jake. He offers to look at her car and fix it if she will go out on a date with him. You know right off the bat that something isn't right. You that Jake is not being honest with Kat, and you know that he knows her from the past. She, on the other hand, is completely clueless. Kat "feels" like she knows him, but brushes it off as just being attracted to him. She goes out on date with him, starts to get to know him and next thing you know they are somewhat in a romance. At the same time, Jake has his own agenda and that includes deceiving Kat and using her to get what he wants. As he gets closer to her, he is realizing that he's developing feelings for her, or that his feelings never left. As the story goes on you get to see these two grow together, but you also know that there is something that Jake is hiding from her. When everything comes out in the open, there are a few things that take you by surprise, which was really great to read. And the ending was a little unbelievable but good at the same time. You get both perspectives so it was good to see what exactly was going on in both of their heads. There wasn't too much I didn't like about this book, and I do look forward to reading the next one in this series. It's not a cliffhanger concerning Kat and Jake, but sort of concerning a secondary character and I really want to read her book!

James/Alex ( You will understand why I have the double name in the story) is a professional con man and thief. When he takes his latest job he takes it in part because of his plan to ruin and embarrass Kat, his childhood best friend who ultimately hurt him growing up.
Once he sees her again his feelings he once had comes barreling back through like a vengeance leaving him questioning his motives.
"Kat" Katherine works at Arcane who specializes in security dealing with computers, programs etc for businesses. She is a manager there who is having a very difficult start to her new job. Her boss is a total "prick" and only wants to get her in the sack. In walks James in her life...she thinks he is the ultimate guy who has a motive on getting what he wants and is someone she should really stay away from...hence why she gives him the wrong number at the beginning. James shows her that there are good guys out there but he is just playing her to get what he wants and that is to destroy Arcane. He uses Kat but never imagined he would be second guessing his mission and leaves him struggling to figure out what he should do. He knows once it all comes out Kat will be hurt and everything will be destroyed with them but he wants to destroy Nick and Arcane.

Will James/Alex be able to have both..... his love for Kat and to destroy Arcane?? Go one click this book and find out.

D.G. Whiskey did a fantastic job writing this book. I was captured from the beginning and didn't put it down til I was finished. Would definitely recommend this book to everyone.

D.G. Whiskey did an amazing job writing this book. I thought the writing style was awesome and I was right in the moment the entire time. It is a fast read, but it's one that doesn't disappoint. You get enough out of the characters to satisfy that good book craving.
I did like James a lot more than I'd thought I would. Normally, when it says something about 'bad boy' they usually come off arrogant and downright conceited. But James isn't your typical bad boy. He's not selfish or uncaring at all. James cares a great deal for others and he makes the big corporations pay when they go bad and do wrong things to others.
I really liked Kat too. She's independent and she's very driven. I'm finding I like stronger women in novels and it's refreshing to read someone who can stand on their own. I will say, I didn't see James and Kat having a history together. That one throw me for a loop, but in a good way.
The only thing I really didn't like about this book was how much corporation "talk" there was. I felt some of it wasn't really needed and most of it I just read but didn't really understand why it played such a huge role in the book.
Overall, it's one that I did enjoy and I would recommend it to anyone looking for something hot and steamy.

What a freaking awesome book. I got lost on the world of James and Kat. James was a really naughty boy. And all naughty boys should go straight to my room!!! Kat put up a bit of a fight in James' pursuit of her, but I just knew that it was fruitless. She would cave, and soon. The book took me to a place that I really did not expect, as it had a twist that I just did not see coming. James was a tad naive when trusting his business partner, as you should never mix business with pleasure, but he manages to get himself out of the heated situation he finds himself in. Kat also did not glide through without any drama. She loved her job, but her boos was an sexist ogre, and karma took care of him just nicely. James and Kat's love was too much to ignore, and even though there were the twists, the lies, the danger, there was also love and forgiveness and that much sought after happy ever after. DG Whiskey, you shine again. Could not get enough, and I finished it all too quickly. I am on the edge waiting to see how you top this one.

If you think Steal is going to be just another bad boy romance novel, you are wrong. If you think Steal is going to have a whole lot of sex and not enough of a story line, you are wrong. If you think Steal is going to be an average, run of the mill story without any depth or inquisitive thought, you are once again wrong.

Steal was an incredible story filled with love, happiness, heartbreak, an evil boss, and of course a very sexy conman! The plot was full of intrigue and wonder. Each chapter I was given a bit more information to thicken the story line and I just wanted more! There were a few erotic/ intimate scenes and they were well written and full of emotion! I was definitely wanting to have my own James Stratton to get steamy with...
D G Whiskey wrote eloquently and with just enough detail to hook me in! The story was summed up nicely but the ending left a premise for a book 2 , which I will be waiting impatiently for! Steal was my first read by this author, and it will definitely not be my last!

James is a man with a past and a secret; and Kat is part of both.
Kat is having a horrible time. Her new job is in jeopardy, her boss is a jerk, and, to put the icing on the cake, her vehicle just crapped out. Enter James, a handsome stranger who is an immediate fix for the vehicle issue and a huge boost to Kat's ego. But James could be detrimental to everything else.
He knows Kat doesn't recognize him and that works for him. James has changed a lot since they knew each other, and not just physically. James makes bad guys pay for their misdeeds and her boss is at the top of his list. Kat may become a casualty in his crusade, something he acknowledges from the start, but as he gets closer to her again, can he live with that knowledge?
James and Kat are both likeable characters, sexy times are hot and steamy, and the HEA may take a bit, but it's there.

I loved this book nearly as much as D.G.'s first book Pulse.

This time we have a hot and heavy bad boy romance featuring a sexy conman called James and his unsuspecting target is old high school crush the beautiful Kat.

The sexual tension between these two is off the charts. This book needs to come with an extremely Hot & Steamy warning as the scenes that are in here will wish you were Kat in this book! My fave scene is in the boardroom....freakin A! (Chapter 12-13)

Good story line that had me guessing what was going to unfold which I like and sex scenes that leave you wanting more!

Another 5 star read by the talented D.G Whiskey looking forward to reading his next book.

My first book by this author but i was more than pleasantly surprised. This book was a lot more than i realized. The cover is ht and implies a jerk of a bad boy, but to me James is not that sort of person. Yes he lies and steals but when you see why he does it my feelings for him warmed. Kat is feisty and no sappy female lead, which is good i cannot read those sorts of characters, they would drive me insane. This book was sexy, romantic and had plenty of surprises up its sleeve and a total a-hole of a boss. I loved the way we knew things about James before Kat did to a degree but some parts still has me going OMG no way. Great first read from this author, i will be checking out their work again at some point in the future

This was my first book by D.G. Whiskey and will not be my last. James is a guy who is pretending to be someone he isn't while pursuing a girl from his past named Kat. Kat has car troubles and James stops to help and that where the story begins. Kat doesn't recognize James but is attracted to him. James convinces Kat to start hanging out with him and feelings start to build. James has a few agendas and hidden secrets. These secrets threaten to tear these two apart. Will Kat realize who James is? And how will Kat react when she finds out James was using her to gain info on her job? It had intrigue, suspense and sex all rolled up to make one hot and fast paced read. Loved the characters and loved the story. I can't wait to read more from this author.

I beta read this book, and I must say....I truly enjoyed reading this story.
It was incredible, the way the story flows, to the characters and events that take place in the book.
James is hot....sexy...and on my, sex on a stick.
Kat gets stuck and boom there he is to save the day.
The Deceit and betrayal in this story had me on the edge of my seat, wondering what will happen next.
I don't want to give too much away. I am so looking forward to more of D.G.'s work.
Kat and James are amazing characters. Addison is an awesome character as well. I'm looking forward to find out
more about her...Nick well I don't even want to get started on him, but all In all the characters are all pretty awesome.

Received this complimentary Arc copy from the author for an honest review.
This is my first book by D.G. Whiskey and it didn't disappoint.
A story about Kat (Katherine) who meets James after her car breaks down. Such a gentleman. She wonders if they have met before but he says no. They get along really well and do couple things together like tandem skydiving...wow, nice touch. James seems rather interested in Kat and her job but she innocently tells him things. Seems James has a hidden agenda.
Kat has such a horrible boss Nick, such a sleaze.
A tale of lies, secrets, passion, drama, and so much more. Never knew what was going to happen next. Brilliant.

I was hooked from the first page until the last! Kat and James meet when her car won't start and to fix it James cons her into a date. There is more to the situation than meets the eye, for James knows Kat from the past. For James what should have been easy, to destroy a start up company, becomes a struggle of the heart when he falls for Kat all over again. Kat likes her job, sometimes, but her boss leaves something to desire. Kat is drawn to James even when all the secrets are revealed. D.G. Whiskey does an awesome job of grabbing my attention with this story! I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I received this book for an honest ARC review, my first book by this author.

This is a story about James, a conman, and his unsuspecting target Kat, who is an old high school crush who broke is heart and he wants to get even with.

All I can say is WOW! Don't want to give too much away but from the first chapter the chemistry is simmering and the sexual tension throughout the book is amazing. The sex scenes definitely need to come with a health warning.

Couldn't recommend enough and definitely will be looking at the books from this author

I really loved this story, it kept me intrigued from the start.
James (Alex) and Kat have known each other since they were children, only she doesn't recognise him. He went from a chubby kid to a buffed adult. Is she being conned? Is heartbreak ahead?
The chemistry between them was hot and I was hoping it wouldn't end badly for her. Great story and I had no idea whether or not it would crash and burn for them.
I highly recommend this book and I look forward to more from this author.

This is my 4th book by DG Whiskey. I really liked this book and the overall story. I liked Kat and how she wasn't willing to compromise her values. I liked James too but that's his job to get people to like him. Once I got his backstory, I understand why he had his little grudge. I loved to chemistry between James and Kat. I was always wondering about Addison's role in the story and I hope she gets her own book. I wish we got some more backstory on her and James. 3.5 stars

This is another hit from D G Whiskey. Its a shorter read (took me about an hour and a half), but action packed! I was worried, based on the description, that I would spend the book hating the male lead. However, that was not the case at all. He was written in a way that you felt for him, even though you knew what he was up to. That is no mean feat!!! All in all it was a great read!!
I recommend it if you enjoy: Bella Jewel, BB Hammel or Nina Levine.
