Impressive debut novel!
Beautifully written, loved it!

The novel is about Sagar and Prakriti, destined for each other.
The novel opens with Sagar now at UK with his girlfriend. On receiving news that Prakriti, his childhood sweetheart is in Delhi, he leaves to Delhi. At Delhi, Sagar and Prak spend time together rekindling their romance after a long period of separation. Sagar thinks about his childhood days at Orissa, and of the unfortunate end to their blossoming romance. Now when he decides to propose Prak again, things go berserk. A dejected Sagar leaves without letting anybody know about his whereabouts. Destiny brings them together again but fate is yet to be done with them!

The characterization of the lead are very realistic and lovable, each with its own flaws and cuteness. The flow of the story is simply fabulous and you wouldn't want to put the book down. The dialogues are so beautiful and well written that it definitely needs a special mention.

My favorite quotes from the book:

“Sagar, I never think of the past. To me, yesterday was good but so is today. The future would be amazing if you invest your trust and love in it”
“Sagar, love Is not someone. Love is a feeling within you that keeps you happy. If you have it, it never deserts you. You may try to mask it but it’s always within you. Love is never someone.”
“But he also knew one doesn’t need weapons to kill oneself. Absence of hope is potent enough to squeeze out life from a body”

“Just that I don’t want you to hold on to a thing, no matter how beautiful it might look. Let everything move on with time.”

“Distance will bleed to its own death For having failed to keep us away and apart” “Happiness always brings success. Its never the other way round”

“life turns poetic”

"When people take liberties with you, then you attack from the end they least expect you to... much like a rattle snake; the end from where it attracts its prey is not the end that attacks"

“Distance will bleed to its own death
For having failed to keep us away and apart”

Extra points for the delightful writing style! For anybody who loves romance, you would succumb to this splendid work!

Never Apart is a beautiful portrayal of a childhood love story in Orissa. Set in Orissa in the late nineties, it gives a very familiar description of the life in rural India, the contrast between town and city culture, and how, despite the seemingly superficial differences, humans hearts can connect in mysterious ways, much more powerful than bonds of blood or language or caste or region.

However, unlike the quintessential epitome of an Indian love story, this book differentiates itself by being realistic and grounded. It portrays beautifully how life is not all rosy and not all thorny, neither black nor white, but a series of different shades of grey. One might experience the most intimate moments in the middle of a catastrophe, and may not feel an iota of love on a sunny day in their lover's arms. It's all those imperfect moments that define our lives, and the author has brought that out very eloquently.

The lead characters may not be perfect but make every reader relate to them in hundreds of ways. A child with no mother and devoid of his father's love may still be the most loving person. A beautiful girl with her perfect demeanor may not be the best one at studies. The best sportsperson may be filled with envy and jealousy for someone in their own family. The reader finds a little bit of themselves in each of the book's characters.

The book beautifully describes the insecurities of the human mind, how it finds inspirations in the simplest of ways, how people can be unpredictable at times, and how true love always lives, beyond boundaries of time and distance!

What can I say!!! just driven by my thoughts from present to my school life momentarily reading this awesome debut romantic novel by Shiven....
I fell in love with Prak at some instances n found myself in the midst of scenes narrated... whether its Prak's 1st day at school, conspired attack on Prak , Sagar's entry into the story, Sagar meeting with Prak in the boutique.... I felt each n every moment very realistic and thoughtful!!
I'm a positive climax lover, wanted to bash the author for ending with a melancholy track.....(though I'm not intending to do so....)
But to be frank a must read novel!!!!!

“Never Apart” is a romantic novel which revolves around two persons Sagar-Prakriti in love from childhood days. It is about how the Hope , Belief and Love kept these beautiful souls together even if they are miles apart and despite all odds life has thrown at them one after another . “True Love” comes out as the real winner every time they meet or apart and conveys the message aptly put by Prakriti “Love Is not someone. Love is a feeling within you that keeps you happy. If you have it, it never deserts you. You may try to mask it but it’s always within you. Love is never someone.”
The story starts with Sagar who gets to know about Prakriti’s whereabouts after long years which rekindles his search for the love of his life. Their second meeting shows how they long for each other all these years although life’s perspective from both ends are different. All these years while Sagar rejoiced each of his golden moments of the past and remained holding on , Prakriti lived at the moment and never wanted to stick to her past.
After meeting Prakriti, Sagar is bound to go to the flashback, into the 90’s, when he first met Prakriti and how her presence had a big impact on his life. This part of the story is really interesting as a teenager within us never dies. Every reader can connect to it as they go thru chapter by chapter where everything is narrated beautifully by the authors for each typical characters or personas we find in school days. How a depressed teenager Sagar obsessed about Prakriti, fell in love with her and rise in studies for her is described with pure emotions from exchange of chits to their first Kiss. The personas like Narayan Sir, Sujata Mam, the guest Biology teacher, the newly married teacher, Prakriti’s Traditional mother and loving and caring father, jealous and alter egoist Niriksha, Spoilt brat Ranjan, Sagar’s adamant father and true friend Vikas are well justified in their own way as they seem very real and fit to the story. This part of the story is halted by one of the nature’s cruelest revenge in form of a super cyclone. Its fury and aftermath is very well written by the authors as I personally experienced the same in 1999 .
Will not describe much about the story to reveal the suspense. The Loving souls meets again after 12 years. But destiny took its own course. The mystery unfolds in several flashbacks in subsequent chapters and mesmerizes the reader as nothing seems predictable. The twists and turns of the story keep the reader engaged. Every minute details of human emotions are captured well enough which forces the reader to visualize those in imagination. The quotes and ending of every chapter are simply awesome. The language used is easy to read and understand. It is unique in its own way because it is not just another love story, it is a story about “Love and Life and how both are entangled or intertwined.”
My favorite dialogs from the book are
“Life is always beautiful. To make it more beautiful is what living a life is.”
“Life is an experiment with experiences...”

First of all I would like to congrates you for your #Book ????.
Well, after reading your book I can say that The contents are too Real and good. The chapter wise Quotes gives a shine to whole story. Language used in this is easy to understand. Story is awsm and it can be Predicted in the starting but as story moves .. No one can predict the upcoming happening. The twists in the story and the turns in Sagar- Prakriti's life is mindBlowingg.
The funny things too attracted me as what happen to Santosh's Hip... Ranjan's Love letter with CD ??????????.
The friendship of Vikash-Sagar , Prakriti-Vidisha is a msg of true friends. Friends cum love story of Prak-Sagar is Mesmerising.

The unique way to encourage a Weak student to Study hard to achieve his Goal and the outcome ????.
Second meeting with prakriti was nicely expressed. The explanation of school days, the cyclone, the India Gate... India's win was acknowledged well.
The most funniest thing that I feel was #Pink_Nano ?? , Result announcement by sujata Ma'am to mark Sagar.

Mind Blowing Story which touches every Teenagers heart. Never Apart

The First kissing scene was too real that even by reading one can imagine the while situation.

The Emotions and situation shown are truly reliable and can be felt by everyone.
I personally feel for School Days was good. And In the middle the story got stable and slowly explained the whole story that was too Good.
But I feel for what happened in Last 2-3 chapters. The uncertainties covered the story.

In Last I will say that "This is the Best". And all the best to you.
And yes One message to Teenagers is that "If you like someone..... Express them don't wait for other to explain, Or Life will not provide you a #second chance". ??????????

#NEVER_APART ???????????????

Its an outstanding book with pure emotions and honesty. Its simple to the core that love bind with nothing more than love itself .. it never ends it never apart !!

The lucid writing will make you fall in love with the characters. With reading, you start living their journey and start caring for them.

While reading I went through all the emotions a human can possibly have .. love, anger, nostalgic, empathy and choked ..

I went nostalgic with school days .. recollected love memories, the intimacies .. Titanic of-course !! And Super Cyclone .. 90's were best time .. learn , fun and love .. and be spoiled ..

Its wonderful to rekindle those memories .. its a great accomplishment as a writer to spark that right emotional chord within the reader's heart ..

The climax is jolting to the core ..

I wish you all the luck for this beautiful book and many more to come ..

It's a good book to read. I liked it. It appeared as if it's a true life story. Once started, I could not stop reading until I finished it. There is continuity in writing. I usually don't read any romantic novel. The write up is rich in English vocabulary. I am sure, this novel would be a success. Wish the author to come out with many more publications in future.

This book felt like a journey through time, it took me to my childhood, the tender age of adolescence till today and somewhere to wander off to future too!
The way it's written rekindles all your feelings emotions that you once went through, even it will make you long for things which you have never felt in your life!

Till chapter 16 it felt like reading a biography, then it goes intense, I mean novel like intense!!

Each and everything written in such a descriptive marvelous way that it felt a reel is rolling in my mind while reading it! Just not that, it consumes you into the book that you will flow with and experience it emotionally and many more ways!

The book made me laugh, giggle, loved, hurt, disgusted, anguished, emotional and dreamy and at the end it left me with stream of tears...

The male protagonist's character will make a reader fall in love with him. It gives you the surreal expections of having such a friend, well wisher and a life partner!

It inspires how can one rise beyond boundaries, norms and be exceptional, how to never let go of the person who makes you feel good about yourself, how to forgive and to be understanding. How you can achieve your dreams or the dreams you have seen for someone! Although it's a book, none of these things felt like not real to be achieved.

There are 2 more characters, which have the impact!
One who is being feared by all, but changed the life of the protagonist, we all need a figure like that somewhere in life!
And the one who is with him, through thick and thin and never left hope for him!

I can keep on writing, but don't want to be a spoiler for new reader so to end here,
A book which can give you chills and feels and makes you a part of it, is a peice of Art which is not done in a hurry!

For a debutante, this is like hitting a "home run"!

I would give it a 4.5 , you know they say , there is always something for improvement!

Congrats to Shiven & Mayuri with best wishes for future endeavours!

This is an OK book considering that it is a debut novel. I received this in a goodreads giveaway.
Plot
It is a story of two main characters Sagar and Prakiriti. They are together since school and Sagar is the duffer of class whereas Prakriti is the high achiever. As they say opposite attract and she is attracted toward him. Then they are together off and on throughout the book. Finally the girl dies in the end because of a disease and Sagar marries somewhere else.

The Good
The English is very good. Descriptions of events are very detailed. The poem which Sagar writes for her is heartwarming. Sample this:

I live every moment of my life for you
Whose eyes can’t see shedding a drop of tear.
Would fight to bring happiness into your lap
No matter what it takes for me to bear.

The Average
The story is long winded and goes round and round in circles. The authors have no sense of direction and it is a zig zag journey. It is clearly a copy of Love Story and Akhiyo ke Jharokhe se.

In the end a very mediocre book even boring most of the times. It tests you patience and finally you just want the ordeal to end. Strictly a one time read.

Its an awesome read! Simple writing yet vivid description about each character and place. Love of Prakriti and Sagar was so pure that just could not fade even with time.
The author has been infusing life into the plot at every juncture be it Prakriti's 1st day at school, the attack on Prakriti, Sagar's entry into the story, Prakriti-Sagar meeting in the boutique and so on..
One cannot stop but applaud the methodology and skill of the author in taking care of each and every aspect to build the story into a supreme piece of art.
Congratulations to Shiven and Mayuri for this gift of art! Hope to see many more from you in the future! God bless!
A must read. Go for it!

Shiven and Mayuri have been able to deliver a piece of art in his very first attempt. I would rate this book as one of the best coming of age stories that I have come across till date. I believe everybody in their 30s would be able to relate to at least one character or one event from this story to their student days. The characters are very real and the plot will take you back in time to your fun days. The coherent flow of the plot will make you visualize the story. Above all, the mature climax gives the story a practical yet dreamy ending.

Thank you Shiven and Mayuri for doing such a great job.
"Never Apart" is something new and refreshing to read.
This story explains love between two childhood friends with lot of ups and downs and struggle to survive as an individual but still having a thread of hope to get to each other silently in their heart.
I loved a lot of quotes used in this novel.
I would like to share one of those lines from this book where Prakriti describes her thoughts about love to Sagar,

" you don't have to tell someone that you love her. The other person get to know even before you know it yourself. It happens just like that. Nothing is said. Nothing is advertised. Love is a feeling which you feel. Everything turns beautiful. Foes turn into friends, revenge metamorphoses into forgiveness, and sadness flees away. Life turns poetic."

The small detailing facts that what makes a firm grip on me to get an emotional experience while finishing this book. I did not feel any regret to mention that my eyes get wet while reaching to the end of the chapter.
This book makes me feel the pain and joy of both the characters sagar and prakriti .
Congratulations Shiven and Mayuri for your debut Novel 'never apart' .
I wish you luck.
Hoping to see more in near future.

The book started off a little bit too high-worded than the story demanded for me.
Almost as if the writer wanted to show off his vocabulary - but when the flashback to the childhood came, the story seemed more innocent and truthful and less pretentious.

A light read, recommended for a weekend at the beach or something, the author is witty at times, and very subtly paints the town of Paradip, somehow seems to be inspired from his own childhood.

I received this book from a colleague at work, and being an aspiring writer myself, I would say the book is a good read, but could've been better, had it not seemed like a movie.

Too many jump-cuts, and sometimes the narrative is not coherent.

(Being too critical perhaps, but I think the author has great potential!)

The ending was too rushed, and the summary at the back of the book reveals a lot about the last few pages than is necessary.

The end, again, seems like a Bollywood-style ending, but perhaps, that is how the author felt fit to end his saga.

Overall, liked it.

3/5. :)

Waiting for more books from the author.

A heart so honest!
Couldn't put it away once I started reading. I have always found innocent childhood love - sweet & happy. What touched me the most is how the world could not influence the main character. He was madly determined and confident to follow his tender heart, rather than following the made-up truths of life, and playing "by the rules". It’s sad that he was devoid of getting much family support, and that he had to be on an undesirable livelihood for a long period of time.
The flow of the story-telling is amazing with great sequence of chapters. The idea is creative with interesting characters, especially the little boy who lived in the world of fantasies until he was motivated by his teacher at the age of, like 13. The final chapter shows how trust is the most important part of love, with no sign of insecurity and conflict. I did feel a let-down after reading the book and had a sense of so many untold stories. This is my first book of this genre, and the authors' talent made me visualize the story. I would recommend reading it.

Never Apart is a very nice volume which not only goes through scores of romance , despair and various stages of life of the characters, but also depicts a wonderful picture of the time in which the characters lived and also vivid description of places of Odisha,Delhi and UK.

It keeps you engrossed from commencement till its conclusion , Prakriti and Sagar the lead characters go through multiple phases of life , yet keep up their feelings for each other lighted throughout.

I have started and finished this masterpiece in less than a day which would give an idea of how it keeps you interested. The flow of writing and the use of similes and metaphors and various other symbolic representations in the form of words is outstanding as well the description
of the landscapes is emphatic.

I would give it a rating on the highest side and would wish to have more novels to sprout of such writing and also admire the spirit of the writer to come out with
different dimensions and willing to experiment.

This is superlative to summarize and would expect more of this.

Once I completed it, I don't know what happened to me. I just choked and there was a sudden outburst of unknown feelings - Goose Bumps, Restlessness, Anxiety etc. all creep up. It was something different. Out of the world.

Initial chapters gave me an impression that I was going through a "Hrishikesh Mukherjee" genre movie. But once it reached its business end, it was full of twists and turns. You would think something and it will lead you to something else. And mind it these are not "forced upon twists" but seamless ones.

Articulation of each and every scene is so immaculate that you will start living in those moments.

After completing it I realised my blunder... it's not a "Hrishikesh Mukherjee" work but "work of Shiven & Mayuri". Way to go guys!!

Last but not the least - I would say a new genre is created to make us believe in purity of unadulterated love. ‪#‎ReadItorLossIsYours‬

I just had wished to pick the right book to start my month, and I ended up reading Never Apart after one of my close friends recommended it. This book, I must tell is a refreshing departure from stereotypical love stories even though its about love between Prakriti and Sagar.
From the first page itself, there is a great build-up which keeps the reader interested in reading the book till the end and do an encore. (I personally read it in 2 days even while working :))
The story revolves around the central characters Prakriti and Sagar. The author duo of Mayuri and Shiven have done a tremendous job of putting across beautiful imagery of the two. You can close your eyes and visualize the entire story unfolding infront of your eyes!
Overall, a nice read to start and I would recommend it to all of those who wish for a fresh simple yet intense book to read. A big thumbs up to the authors! Keep writing more and help bookworms like me :)

Never Apart - Amazing and can read countless time with the same excitement
Never Apart novel, I was waiting to read from last 4 years .Finally the wait is over and definitely worth the wait.
This book did not end the way everyone would like to read but it still ends in a beautiful way with the message -
No matter how beautiful it might look, let everything move on with time and true love never ends.
Everything was described so well and beautifully, still so refreshing. In love with the chemistry between Prak & Sagar, just paint the perfect image in any readers mind. I think that made me read the book during the work hours and flip through the pages.
Love is a feeling which you feel.
Love is never someone.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoy reading about two people falling in love.
Be sure to have tissues ready when you turn the last page .

Loved the book and reading again 

I'm not a contemporary reader, but have to say that I really enjoyed Never apart.Let me keep the review brief .Two individuals meet and despite their opposite natures and backgrounds, fall for each other. When the love is tested, it shows a honest approach to how individuals feel about it and how to sort it out within the boundaries of the relationship . Short chapters capture single events drawing a pattern of emotions. Each emotion builds on the one that went before till the climax . Recommended .

I got this book through a giveaway. It makes one realize not all love stories end beautifully though it ended in a very different and acceptable way. The whole dynamics and perception about characters changes once Prakriti's side of the story comes to the fore and as a reader you are compelled to appreciate the masterstroke that the author has managed to pull through this book. For few I might have overrated the book a bit but I have a special place for Indian writers and will always remain so.. Thanks again for sharing this novel with me

Originally started reading the book as a pass time while commuting in Delhi metro. However as the characters gradually took shape I got so involved that I started looking forward to my free time to read the book in the anticipation of "what next"!! An extremely well drafted novel (though assumed it to be a fiction and got to know most of it is based on true stories later on!). Fell in love with the characters and the script. Way to go!! Hope this translates to a movie someday :)
