A shy girl teaches a wild boy the ways of modern living in Wild Forest's First Home , the first book in this sweet and funny chapter book series!
On a family camping trip, Olive Regle encounters Forest, a young boy who has grown up in the wild. Olive’s father agrees to let Forest move in under the condition that Olive teach Forest everything about proper behavior. He’s never sat at a table, brushed his teeth, or even taken a bath before! It’s a lot to learn, and Olive’s brother, Ryan, isn’t helping―he tells Forest that football should be played in side.
Can this wild child ever fit in?
Don’t miss Olive’s and Forest’s next adventure Wild Forest’s First Day of School !
My daughter loved this book. She laughed and had a smile on her face through out the whole book. She could relate to the main character, Olive a lot because she is a little sister to an older brother. Brothers who can sometimes be a bother when they think they know everything. My daughter also liked Forest because he was friendly, funny, and helpful towards Olive. She felt bad that he didn't have a family of his own and was happy when Olive's family took him in. She is really excited to read the next book in the series. I definitely recommend this book to children ages 6-8.
Zann, Tara Forest's First Home (Wild Child #1). CHAPTER BOOK. Imprint (Macmillan), 2017. $5.99. Content: G.
While on a camping trip, Olive encounters a wild boy in the woods. She convinces her father to let the child, Forest, come home to live with them. There's just one caveat: Olive must teach Forest to act like a regular boy instead of a wild animal. But with an impending visit from her very proper grandmother, and a brother who keeps sabotaging her efforts, taming Forest is starting to seem impossible.
Forest's First Home has a fun premise, the illustrations throughout are amusing, and Olive is a fairly sympathetic character. Unfortunately, the story itself feels hastily-written and lacking in dimension. Verdict: a cute but not-particularly-memorable read, and a so-so start to a new series.
Read this to my daughter. She really liked it and laughed quite a bit. This book is about a family that went camping. The daughter, whose name is Olive, decides to take the family dog for a walk in the woods. While on her walk, Olive discovered a boy about her age who had no family. He was living in the woods. His name is Forest. When the family gets home they discover Forest in the back of the car. Olive wants him to stay with them permanently. Can Olive help him to learn manners before her Gam Gam's birthday party? You'll have to read to find out!!!
This was great fun to read with my 5-year-old grandson. He wants the next one in the series. Even though he could read it himself--he corrected me several times when I misread something, he enjoyed being read to, and I enjoyed our time together. I put "Forest's First Day of School" on hold at the public library.
I read the advance reading copy of Wild child by Tara Zann. Wild Child was an interesting book with many plot twists. I personally think it was a hilarious children's book. It was very adventurous, action packed and creative. It is very hard to stop reading this book.
