Jolie Ross has had a rough childhood, one she’d soon rather forget. When she follows the one person who she ended up trusting in college, and who became the first friend she’s truly ever had, she finds a better life in a small town working at a gym. Her life finally takes a turn for the better. Good job, nice apartment, until a mysterious dark haired man, with tattoos and piercings, walks into the gym. He becomes a personal trainer there, but she’s leery of his secrecy. She decides it’s best to keep her distance. She doesn’t want any more regrets. One of the most amazing books I've ever read.
I adored it, and I will definitely read it again.

Jolie has trusted in only one person in her entire life, but something happened, and she stopped trusting.
Tanner enters in her life, but he has so many secrets and is so intense that Jolie doesn't know if it's better to keep away or let in.

This book was so full of laughs, confusion, mystery, tears. Oh the tears.

This book I can say, was perfection. Flawless. Fuck if I didn't read the first one and didn't understand very little details, I was so satisfied with it.

I would give this book 10 stars if I could.

That being said, there were just two things, just two little things, I couldn't enjoy that much, but at the end, they didn't even matter.

H was perfection in my opinion. At the beginning I was a little skeptical about him, but then, as you keep reading, you notice he's fucking flawless.
Some people, I think, would find the h a little stressful because she didn't trust anyone, but do not judge a book by its' cover. She's actually pretty sweet and perfect for the H in my opinion.

Safety gang:

HFN/HEA:

Please keep in mind that I've only read this book from the series. For me it can be a standalone, but if you are one of those people who has to know everything about every character's life, then I suggest you to read the first one (I don't know if it's safe though) in order to understand every little detail.

This book was really good but it was not as good as it could have been.
At first it was so intense and then it just fizzled for me here.
He was a badass at first but then he gets a little introspective and intense, she was a sassy don't mess with me bitch, then becomes sweet and sentimental.
They quickly develop a comfy relationship moving in together but that's it really.
They did not have much else now that all the secrets are out in this open.
Then the author has to add the drama of his save the day hero moment!
Why is he going to get himself into the line of fire now that he has her? He kept his promise so what gives?
I understand the whole save the kids angle but it's always the same in every book, the greater good.
After all, The hero must save the day!
Really, done to death but sweet just had so much potential but it just fell flat.

Recommend and totally safe they are both one and only virgins both.
No OW/OM drama.
Good to read but not a reread.

• BOOK: # 2 – Can be read as a standalone, but I did feel a little lost once or twice. Kindle loc: 5070

• POV: Dual first person

• STEAMINESS: 3/5 - a few sexy scenes

• EDITING: some minor errors

• ENDING: HEA. Epilogue. No major cliffhanger but sets up the next couples' book.

• OW/OM ISSUES: Absolutely none. Both H & h are virgins.

• WARNINGS: h had abusive foster parents

Loved that the H has wanted the h for years and she's the only one for him.

“You’ve been in my dreams for longer than I can remember, always in my head. I knew as soon as I first laid eyes on you, that you’re the one. I’ve waited for you for a lifetime.”

Unfortunately the story was too long and uneventful. The writing was just ok, long-winded with copious amounts of unnecessary details.

Example: "After collecting myself, I lean down and pick up my helmet and bag, open the back door and slam it shut hard. Quickly walking to my bike, I put my helmet on and secure it. Angrily raising my leg, I straddle the seat, and dig in my pocket for the key. I open the small container behind my seat and shove my bag inside. After turning around, I jam the key into the starter and rev up my bike. I back out of the space, turn the wheel, and start out of the parking lot."

But I can forgive some issues when it's a safe read.

I received this for an honest review.. I have to say that this author is truly a favorite!! Everytime I pick up one of her books I love it!!!

Jolie and Tanner are the stars of this awesome book. I found myself pulled right into this story and just loving these two characters and this story.. What I love about this book and this author is your moving right along with the story and bang she hits you with the drama...
I loved this story because these characters are a bit different from each other and the chemistry and attraction between them is off the charts

This author is a true storyteller who sucks you right into this story of two people who are meant to be together!!!

Jolie gave her heart away to someone very special a long time ago. Her heart went with him the day he left promising to come back for her, but she never saw him again. She is a strong woman, sassy and stubborn at times but still heartbroken from her past, replaying those memories often in her head.
Tanner, a hot mystery of a man has his secrets. He is strong and determined, devoted to follow though with something he put in motion a some time ago. Something that must remain a secret.
Jolie and Tanner are drawn to each other, there is an undeniable chemistry between them. Will Jolie be able to let Tanner in or will her past continue to haunt her preventing her from going for something that could be amazing?
Will Tanner's secrets catch up to him and destroy his future?
The Regret is an amazing story, one full of heartbreak, passion, forgiveness and love. It will constantly keep you guessing and once you think you have it figured out, guess again!
This is another great read from Vicki Green that you will not want to miss!

This is a book that I was waiting for. I was dying to know more about the mysterious hottie known as Tanner. Well my friends, was I blown away by the route that this story took. I did not see that twist coming. I will admit I was getting frustrated (kudos to Vicki for that) with the story. OMG, I was like freaking Jolie, how the hell can you not remember!!!!!

THEN...BOOM!!!!

I so got ahead of myself there. But good luck not falling in love with Tanner. He is so sweet, attentive, loving and gorgeous. How can Jolie not fall for him, heck I was drooling and longing for him the entire time I read. Vicki has a way with building characters and she did not disappoint with Tanner. I love how well thought out this story was. The buildup, the annoyance, the heartbreak, the tears, the love, the joy, the beauty of life and how we all have a purpose.

Jolie and Tanner's story was years in the making and it played out beautifully. I love HEA's and I truly loved this one.

The Regret is everything the blurb explains and more! After Jolie follows Jace home after college and starts working at his gym, we meet Tanner. He's a mystery. But a mystery who has also followed Jolie, only she didn't know it.

The two form a bond of live that is incredible strong. Tanners undying devotion to Jolie -essentially for years- is beyond compare (even though at times it feels a gad stalker-ish)

Tanner has a huge secret that plagues him daily because he's afraid of what will happen to that love Jolie has for him now finally.

Beware of plot twists, what you think is going to happen will give you whip-lash BUT in the best way!

This is my confession: Admittedly, Im not a huge fan of Vicky Green. The books that I have read in the past have always left me with a very 'ehh' lukewarm feeling. I def cannot say the same for The Regret. Loved it.

Tanner is still mysterious even though he has gotten in with Jase, but he is trying to become friends with Jolie. But getting closer to her could also hurt her more.
Jolie has had a hard life and is doing her best not to ever end up going back. Because of that she is very guarded and doesn't let many in. No matter how much Jolie keeps her wall up, Tanner seems to be wedging closer to her heart. Will she be able to heal and open up her heart or will she keep the walls in place protecting her heart the only way she can??
Regret is the second book in the heartache series.

Tanner and Jolie

I think this book is one of my new favorites!! Tanner, the gorgeous, mysterious, protector with many secrets. Jolie the sassy, strong, independent woman whom Tanner is secretly protecting and wanting for his own. Such a great story of friends, family, new acquaintances, secrets, regrets and heartache from a life taken so young. Sad but beautiful story well written. Can't wait to see what develops next with Barrett and Hailey!!

Look out for that turn! ;)
If you think that you have this storyline figured out, you're wrong. You'll be reading along and here comes that rollercoaster ride that Ms. Green is so famous for! Not only does the storyline have it's twists and turns, but your emotions will also. She will have you laughing, then the tears.. As always, she has us invested in her characters, as if they are our best friends. Magnificent story!! I eagerly await book 3.

The Regret is a beautiful love story of Jolie and Tanner. She had a rough life growing up. Steven was the one bright spot in her life...until she met Tanner. He was annoying, but there was aomething about him... Tanner is a good man that wants to protect her above all else, but will he be able to if he gets close to her? You'll just have to read this beautiful love story to find out more...no spoilers here!

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

This was an amazing read that I enjoyed from the moment that I started reading. The story will keep you interested and entertained from the moment you start reading all the way till the very end, you cannot help but fall in love with the characters, you will feel as though you know them personally and the story moves along at the perfect pace, not to fast nor to slow. This book must be read.

I loved this book, with the plot twists not at all what I thought was going to happen. I was rooting for Tanner and Jolie from the beginning of the book. I would have read it in one day but I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. Vicki hit it out of the park with this book, she did not disappoint in anyway.
I look forward to reading the next book.

The Regret

The Regret is the second book in the Heartache series and tells the story of Tanner and Jolie. I highly recommend you read The Loss first as some of the supporting characters in The Regret appear in that first. Fantastic series, can't wait for the next book!

Build up was way too annoying. Repetitive writing, and I personally didn't like Tanner's character...he came across as a presumptuous asshole at times, forward and unreasonably stupid.

I'm only giving it two stars because the idea behind the story was great, although I feel like I've read something similar before. Anyways. The execution of the story was not great at all. Not good even. It took me a long time to finish, and only because I always finish a story. The characters all did the same thing repeatedly, every single character: WINK, COCKED OUT THEIR HIP, HAND ON HIP, WINKED, WINKED, WINKED. You get the idea. Sorry I just couldn't get over it, that's how overdone it was. Plus the story could have been done in half the book. Sorry, I just couldn't get that into it. One thing that really bothered me and kept me thinking about this book after I read the last page, was that there were never any real in-depth conversations had between the two characters. Like about their relationship status with other people. The guy was a

I'm so angry right now.
this would of been a fantastic read if by the end of it the while book didn't become inconsistent.
Making us believe a character is someone there not, throws us for a loop. I love that twist in a story. But it was all wrong in this one.
Calling her names he called her?
Saying sayings they used to say?
why confuse her like that?
And the time frame of his having what he did for 2 yrs before he lost his "dad" at the beginning of the book, again misleading us? when the time frame is wrong as he's not who we thought him to be?
the twist wasn't done as expertly as it has been.
and how can she be a virgin but raped at 12. none of it makes sense once the main plot is revealed.
I'm so disappointed

Amazing book!!

Vicki Green delivers another fantastic read! The Regret is the first book in the Heartache series that I have read and was a little confused. Book one should be read first! Tanner and Jolie are amazing characters. After everything Jolie has been through, I'm glad she gets some peace after years of not knowing. I can't wait to read more of this series in the future!!
