This was a cute, quick and easy read. I really liked this story. I am impressed that Jojo Moyes fit everything into 96 pages.

I loved the plot. I would love to read more stories like this one. I think stories that involve a connection between strangers have so much potential but they usually always have insta-love. This story didn't have any insta-love and that's probably why I liked it so much. Moyes did an excellent job with the execution of this book.

I liked the characters. Again, I just want to say how impressed I am that Jojo Moyes fit everything into 96 pages. The characters were a little clichéd but they weren't one-dimensional. I loved how Nell pushed herself and there was good character development in the book.

I liked Jojo Moyes's writing. The language she used was simple but it still flowed very beautifully. I didn't do any skimming and I didn't lose interest. I think Jojo Moyes has a way with words. Even though the story was predictable, I was still interested in it and that was down to the writing. I just became so engrossed in the story and the characters. I also liked the ending. Moyes didn't try to wrap everything up in a pretty bow, she left their story unwritten.

I would recommend this book to people who are looking for something quick/easy or if you're a Jojo Moyes/romance fan. It's good.

A pretty short and average read. I would definitely class this as a light, cute fluffy read. Perhaps the kind of book you would want to read after a grisly thriller to lighten the mood. Love Jojo Moyes as an author as she can evoke emotions with her writing so well however, this definitely isn't one of those books.

Nell is a quite 26 year old. She makes plans for everything and likes do decide things with the help of pro and con lists. But then she books tickets for Paris for her and her boyfriend Pete. The book starts with her waiting in the station for Pete. But he doesn't show. There she arrives at the Hotel to find the room double booked. So she has to share it with an American woman. And than Pete sends her an text message that he will not be coming. She is so disappointed that she just wants to go home.
Fabien is from Paris. He works as a waiter and has written a book that he has not published yet. All the time he thinks about his ex-girlfriend.
When the two meet, the Weekend starts to become interesting.

Such a cute, speedy read. For such a short story it's really well developed. Sometimes the whole being in "the right place at the right time" thing can be very cliche but because this was a short story it worked really well. I feel like this would make such a perfect movie! This was every romantic movie I've ever watched but I loved it!!

Live in the moment

Nell is going to Paris for a weekend away with her boyfriend, Pete. She is waiting at the train station for Pete when Pete tells her to go to Paris alone as he's stuck at work and will try to get the later train. Nell gets to Paris and Pete tells her that he won't be coming. Nell doesn't do anything spontaneous in her life and she always makes a pros and cons list for everything so when she has to be in Paris all by herself, she doesn't like the idea but when she gets hungry she has to eat and she eats by herself. The next day she tries to get an early ticket but she can't afford it so she decides to stay and then she meets the Frenchman, Fabien and Fabien takes her around Paris and Nell feels alive for the first time.

She has no idea what will happen next.
It is absolutely thrilling.

It started off really slow but when Nell and Fabien meet, it picked up but then it got a little slow again. It was quite predictable but I didn't mind that. I didn't really like Nell but I liked Fabien and I absolutely loved the receptionist, Marianne. I liked the ending but I didn't love it. I am left with so many questions. Would she move to Paris? Would this be a long distance thing? Is there another option? Still overall, it's quite enjoyable.

I enjoyed this short story featuring Nell as she embarks on an ill fated weekend getaway with her unreliable boyfriend to the most romantic city in the world.

At under a hundred pages, it was entirely readable in less than an hour. When Nell arrives in Paris, having been abandoned by said boyfriend, she is faced with two options - stay, and make the most of her time there or catch the first train home to London. Luckily for the reader, she stays and meets a very handsome Frenchman! Just who doesn't yearn for a little holiday romance?

Short. Sweet. Ideal for chick lit fans.

Paris for One is a short feel good novel and I have to say I liked it a lot! It didn't feel unfinished or annoyingly vague. It was just perfect especially the ending.

Although I’ve read hundreds of amazing reviews of Jojo Moyes’s books and everyone I know adores her stories, I’ve never had the chance – or the time – to pick them up myself. So when Paris for One was released as part of the Quick Reads initiative, I jumped at the opportunity and decided to give it a go.

With only 95 pages, Moyes’s novel is a super quick read. Just like the rest of the Quick Reads titles, Paris for One is aimed at those who, for whatever reason, find reading a difficult and daunting task. However, it doesn’t mean that you, as a bookworm who can easily devour a book in a day, won’t enjoy it. In fact, it’s perfect for days when you’re running errands and you know there will be some waiting time here and there. Whether you need to pop into the post office, do the school run or you’re about to go on a quick lunch break, it’s a perfect companion. I loved the fact that I could read during my lunch break without having to carry a 400-page long hardback with me, like I did the week before.

As for the novel itself, one of the things that surprised me the most about this book is how much Moyes managed to pack into such a short story. A few chapters in, I already felt like I knew Nell and her friends – and it was great to see how much she’s changed by the end. There are authors who struggle with character development even though they have at least 300 pages to work with, and Moyes only had 95. Yet, I didn’t feel as if something was missing or as if the characters lacked depth.

"I don't want you thinking I'm an axe murderer..or a sex maniac", he says.

A short sweet story about Nell's new found romance in Paris after being stood up by her boyfriend. Lovable characters.

Wonderful narrator, who's British, American and French accent's, I found absolutely charming.

Ok, this one was pretty good. I was expecting not to like it,like with Dead Man Talking, but I thought this was great fun.

I can recommend as a quick read, though for someone who struggles with reading it's a great start for getting into it.

For the last 8 or so years "The Reading Agency" in the UK have been producing easily accessible and very affordable short books, i.e. Quick Reads to encourage reluctant readers to pick up a book and find some pleasure in reading as an activity. Apparently more than 15% of adults in the UK find reading difficult and believe that books are "scary and intimidating" and "not for them".

I think that the authors that get asked each year to participate in the writing of a "Quick Read" do this for charity, and there are some big names behind the books. This year they are
Roddy Doyle - Dead Man Talking
Jojo Moyes - Paris for Two One
Sophie Hannah - Pictures Or It Didn't Happen
Fanny Blake - Red for Revenge
Adèle Geras - Out of the Dark
James Bowen - Street Cat Bob

I've ordered three of these for when I need a literary "palate cleanser" of sorts, and having thoroughly enjoyed Me before you I started with the Jojo Moyes book on a very snowy, very hungover Sunday afternoon. At about 100 pages, the more "seasoned reader" will read any of these books in one sitting, so in a way they are more like short stories rather than novels.

Paris for One was just what the doctor ordered.... for my intellectually incapacitated mind and tired body.... a predictable, fluffy piece of chick lit with lots of unlikely events to move the plot forward and three or four clicheed, two-dimensional characters. I hazard a guess and say that Jojo Moyes spent as long writing this story as it took me to read it. As I said, it was just the right thing for me yesterday, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone - unless I knew someone who was afraid of books and needed something very light to ease them into a reading routine, so Moyes did a good job for "Quick Reads" in that respect.

-verídico- y lo he disfrutado...

Ugh. This was drivel. This was a formulaic mess of chick lit that I only finished because it wasn't very long and I had already started it. To call this book "trite" might be an overstatement. It is ripe with boring stereotypes, and even the basic premise is just blah. Poor little Nell is boring and unadventurous and wastes her life on a man who obviously doesn't care about her (obvious to everyone but her). And since she is such a helpless little lady, she can't do anything on her own until - oh noes! - her twit of a boyfriend stands her up and she ends up in Paris alone. What is a hapless nitwit to do? Why fall in love with a new man, of course! Woman are only able to grow and prosper when there is new and exciting testosterone to chase! And because he is French, he must also be a sexy but sad, tortured artist (in this case, writer) who has been destroyed by his evil French ex (because all French women are emotionless fashionistas). Together they can mend one another's broken hearts while dropping specific Parisian locations from a Google search.

The best feature of this book was its length. It is a novella.

This is a light and funny collection of one novella and several short stories. I prefer the depth of novels, but if you’re looking for quick, short reads, this is fun.

Moyes is able to give intriguing glimpses into her characters’ lives in very brief tales. In a couple of the stories, married life does not seem appealing at all. The short story Holdups is particularly funny, but there are a lot of hilarious lines throughout the book.

There isn’t a ton of depth here, but it was definitely an enjoyable read. This book reminded me of the work of Marian Keyes, an author I adore.

Kitaba gəlsək, 2saat ərzində oxuyub bitirdim.

Stood up by her boyfriend, Nell finds herself alone in the City of Love. This book tells the magical story of a woman in search for her true self and stepping out of her comfort zone.

I was flying alone when I read this, which was probably why I felt so relatable with Nell. Insecure and cautious, Nell loves to plan and freaks when life doesn't go accordingly. Throughout the 96 pages, I love to see how she grows and becomes an impulsive, fun and independent woman who fights for what she wants.

As for the story, it may not be as convincing since the whole story takes place within a weekend, which makes me question about the romance. Could you really fall in love in a few hours? Hm I don't think so but I really love the ending for it is reasonable. It would be great if Jojo Moyes will write a full length novel about Nell as I definitely want to know more about the characters and how the story goes.

I'm pretty furious at myself that I didn't pick up a Jojo Moyes book sooner. I love her writing style. It has the power to calm you, to make you want to devour every single word. This book marks the beginning of my love for Jojo Moyes, and I can't wait to read more of her works.

Quick read indeed. Nice taste of Paris, little bit of french & a sweet story of one night shared between an English woman and a Parisian.
