When John Jergenson returns from a month's long mission trip to Indonesia, his mind is set on asking Sharee Jones to marry him and return to the islands as missionaries. But Sharee has enough to think about-anonymous phone calls, an attack on her life, and uneasiness about their relationship. The last thing she wants is a marriage proposal. Can John keep her alive, keep her ex-boyfriend out of the picture, and fend off the attentions of another woman long enough to convince Sharee to walk down the aisle?

Man! This poor girl is assaulted, and nearly killed more times than most cops are in their lifetime! So, second book in Ms. Rodante's Dangerous series had a lot to it. This one I liked better. Not nearly so convoluted, good story, great messages about sexual purity and forgiveness and the need to bring everything to the Lord, even when...or especially when you are furious about something. Sharee is now going to marry John, but a number of bizarre things happen to both of them, but mostly Sharee. Last book she was threatened by someone she caught in a compromising situation, plus was nearly killed by someone else who wanted her out of the way because she got too close to finding out who was sending the threatening dolls. In this book she's beaten on twice, nearly run over twice, threatened twice and nearly raped... all the while battling to remain pure with the man she's about to marry. The whole way through the book you think someone is trying to kill her, but who? Good grief, this poor girl! Well, in my opinion it was all a bit much, but it was still an interesting book, very clean and had lots of lessons about abuse, and why sexual purity is psychologically, emotionally, and biblically important. I liked it. I almost quit a few times because I just hate when people aren't just honest with each other....come on...just come out with it, or just tell the whole thing to someone, don't leave out the tough stuff, or just go ahead and tell your boyfriend you've had threatening calls!!! What are you thinking when you say everything's okay when the other person needs to know it's really not?? Or why decide to tell them later, when waiting might get you in trouble? I was also bothered by all the assumptions to which both Sharee and John jumped, making each other angry or mistrustful. But I guess this happens with new relationships, and I guess it puts a bit of conflict in the story that has to be worked through. Ah well. As for the end...hah!! I'm not telling! :)
This book is a continuation of Amber Alert and reading that book will add to enjoyment of this book. Sharee and John continue their romance and John proposes to her after a mission trip to Indonesia. Sharee is unsure and asks him to wait. As they work through their relationship, both Sharee and John have accidents that turn out not to be accidents. The suspense throughout the book mounts as they work through the people who may have a grudge. They both find that you have to surrender to the Lord's will. This book is good for those who like suspense mixed with a dose of romance A copy of this book was given in exchange for an honest review.
As Long as you Both Shall Live is an awesome Christian romance/suspense. I also read the first book in the Dangerous Series....Amber Alert it is also a very good book. The books can be read by themselves but when reading a series I prefer to read the complete set. These are my first books by this author but I look forward to reading much more of her work in the future.
This may be my favorite book of the series. I loved the relationship between Sharee and John. The mystery kept me on the edge of my seat and had me until the end. I also loved the fact it deals with a spiritual message. Congratulations on another awesome book!
I absolutely loved and enjoyed reading As Long As You Both Shall Live by Linda K. Rodante! As Long As You Both Shall Live is full of intrigue, suspense, and Biblical Truth that will leave you on the edge of your seat! As Long As You Both Shall Live tells the story of John Jergenson and his girlfriend Sharee Jones. The book opens up with John returning from a missionary trip and asking Sharee to marry him. Sharee refuses John’s proposal due to uncertainty and having someone who is essentially stalking her. As the story unfolds, John and Sharee try their best to hang onto their relationship at all costs regardless of the fact that their lives tend to be constantly in danger. As Long As You Both Shall Live tells the story of trying to hold on to your Faith despite insurmountable odds and standing up for what the Bible says no matter what.
I read a lot of Christian Suspense books (they are my go-to genre) and very rarely do they keep me on the edge of my seat the way Ms. Rodante’s As Long As You Both Shall Live did. Ms. Rodante has a way of writing Christian Suspense in such a way that the intrigue and keeping you on the edge does not detour or shy away from the Biblical Truth included within the mystery. I loved the characters of Sharee and John. I appreciated the realistic things that they struggled with as a couple and that they were approached and dealt with in a Biblical and Godly manner. I loved that As Long As You Both Shall Live had so many twists and turns that I was often surprised as the reader as to how things were actually going to turn out. I really appreciated how seamlessly the Biblical Truth and suspense were intertwined throughout the book.
As Long As You Both Shall Live is the second book in The Dangerous Series by Linda K. Rodante and the first Christian Suspense novel I have read from Ms. Rodante, but not the last. With As Long As You Both Shall Live being the second in The Dangerous Series, I was not lost like I get sometimes when I start in the middle of a series, because the books in The Dangerous Series can be read as stand alone books. If you are looking for an awesome, edge-of-your-seat read then I highly recommend As Long As You Both Shall Live by Linda K. Rodante!
I would like to thank Linda K. Rodante for giving me a copy of As Long As You Both Shall Live to review and for help in obtaining media information for this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This review is also on my blog, Leslie's Library Escape.
I don't know this author and this is the first book I've read by her. When I saw that it was written about modern day missions, I knew I had to buy it. This is a suspenseful story about a guy who feel called to a challenging mission field and returns home to America to ask his girl to marry him and return to Indonesia. This topic is rarely covered in Christian fiction, but this book is the exception.
It was an exception in several other ways as well. it deals with Christian romantic love that is about more than just hormones and physical attraction. It talks about finding God’s will for your life, both in career and marriage. It deals with sexual temptation and the need for carefulness to maintain purity before marriage. Even in romance, this book talks about making good choices and not just going by your feelings. All of these things are most often missing in Christian fiction, but present in this book. Plus the suspense of finding the person or persons who are following this couple, determined to do them harm.
I enjoyed the book and had to keep reading during the suspenseful sections. But I especially appreciate the important Christian themes Rodante tackled. Highly recommended!
My review today is on the Romantic Suspense, As Long As You Both Shall Live. I really enjoy Linda's books and this one is a great read. This story is well written, full of twists and turns. Faith is an important ingredient in this story. You will love her characters. I know this is a book you will love.
Social worker Sharee Jones is struggling. Her boyfriend has gone on a mission trip. Since he's been gone she has been receiving strange phone calls. She is struggling in her faith so she's not ready for John's proposal the minute he gets home. Now her life is being threatened. She loves him but is that enough?
Missionary Pilot John Jergenson comes home from a mission trip ready to marry Sharee and move to Indonesia in six months. He is shocked when Sharee tells him she needs time. Rejection is tearing him apart when suddenly his life is threatened and then Sharee's. What is going on? Who could want to harm them?
A difficult journey of faith for both these broken souls. God has a plan for these two, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a good plan and not for evil. Give Him your heart and watch Him heal your broken heart and give you the desire of your heart. God is so good.
I really liked this book. Sharee and John have been in love for a while, see Amber Alert. When John comes back from a mission trip he discovers things have changed in their relationship. Someone is out to frighten, injure, and may kill one or both of them. Who shall they trust? They both have tough lessons to work through. Who will win the battle over their life? Will love and forgiveness win or will the darkness overcome their emotions? Thanks Linda for another great read!
John Jergenson is returning home from a short term mission trip to Indonesians. He has intentions to be a missionary pilot. His friend Sharee Jones is unsure about her relationship with John after a disastrous relationship with Dean. Sharee Jones has been getting troubling phone calls, but has been reluctant to tell anyone.
Excellent mystery with good plotting & characterization.
Linda continues to hit social issues on the nail... Sharee seems to get herself into constant trouble, whether temptation or psychological, spiritual battles, fear of danger in overseas missions. She touches on several subjects that are close to many Christians: temptation to sin, domestic violence, and I might add, I refuse to reveal the end, but the unknown attacker came as a surprise. Well-written and always a joy to read.
This is a continuation of John and Sharee's story after Amber Alert. John returns home from a mission trip and proposes to Sharee. Both experience accidents that may not be just accidents, and Sharee's life is in danger from people with grudges. This was a great suspense with some twists and turns and obstacles in John and Sharee's relationship and some wonderful spiritual truths and faith elements.
Made me cry, laugh, and think. I loved the words from God's heart on forgiveness, pride, and love. This author is wonderful. The story really starts in Amber Alert, but this one can be read alone. Only then we would miss the exciting and inspirational words. Some intense moments that touch on abuse, and insanity.
I liked that this story was unapologetic about purity in a relationship while still being realistic and relatable. It provided plenty of options for “whodunnit” and sprinkled in other interesting aspects and romantic elements. Well done!
@Linda Rodante out did herself! Linda shows young and old alike why it is important to keep ourselves for our wedding night. Also what happens when anger and unforgiven can keep people from Jesus.
Loved the story. Did not see the end that came. The characters in the story are relatable. Everyday people with all the highs & lows of life but a strong belief & relationship with God that allow them to get through all struggles.
John Jergenson returns from a month-long mission trip to Indonesia certain of two things: one, he wants to return to the mission field on a permanent basis and two, he wants Sharee Jones at his side as his wife. As Sharee meets him at the airport, John greets her with a diamond and a proposal. Expecting an ecstatic “YES!” John is stunned when Sharee instead bursts into tears and asks for time to consider. When a despondent John returns to his apartment, he is blindsided by a hit and run driver which puts him in the hospital with a broken leg and various other injuries. Sharee is thrilled to have John home but she has more on her mind than his proposal. The hang-up calls she’s been getting the entire time John was gone have her jumping at her own shadow. Could his accident be related? When Sharee is followed out of the church parking lot and pushed off the road, the incidents ramp up from annoying to sinister. Does she have a stalker? Who is trying to keep her and John apart? As Long as You Both Shall Live is the second book in Linda K. Rodante’s Dangerous series. The action is non-stop, hair-raising excitement. I’ll admit that there were WAY too many times when I mentally yelled at Sharee, “NO, What are you thinking going into that dark parking lot?” The final show-down was intense and unexpected. Readers of romantic suspense books need to add this one to their TBR stacks! Once I started it I didn’t get much sleep until it was finished. I definitely would recommend it and am looking forward to going back and reading book 1, Amber Alert then book 3, Splashdown!
As Long as We Both Shall Live, written by Linda K. Rodante, is the first book I’ve read by this author. It’s a Christian romantic suspense novel and book two of Rondate’s Dangerous Series. What a story! I believe that John is my favorite character of this book. He’s a widower, a devout Christian seeking to be a missionary, and falls in love with Sharee. We join the story as John is returning from Indonesia from a month long missions trip. Upon arrival, Sharee greets him at the airport and right off the bat he proposes to her. He knew he loved her and wanted to be married to her before he left…and when she responds, he is floored! This story takes us through one suspenseful scene to another. First John is run down by a car and then Sharee is…it just goes from bad to worse. They have committed to be missionaries and to serve the Lord yet it seems like the fiery darts of the devil. I found a wonderful quote from this book, “We do what we can, and trust God with the rest.” Now, can John and Sharee truly trust God for the rest…you’ll have to read to find out! Thoroughly enjoyed this book! I was gifted this book in exchange for my honest review.
"I never saw that coming." The words I thought of as I read the ending of the book.
I loved the characters in this story. Sharee, a strong personality, stubborn at times and John, a stick of dynamite describes him best. And then Sharee's mom. That's one lady I'd never want on my bad side, yet John seemed to get there. And when he did the explosion happened.
There was a lot of suspense, continually wondering who was behind all the strange things that happened to Sharee and John.

In the first book of the series Marci's husband was Stephen but in the second book it was Joesph. It is things like that I have a hard time understanding. I would've caught right away. I enjoyed the books.
As Long As You Both Shall Live is the love story of John and Sharee. John has just returned from a mission trip and has the ring to ask Sharee to marry him. Before he can ask her first he, and then Sharee are injured when cars tries to run them down. Why would someone try to kill them both?
This is a Christian romantic suspense novel. The characters are interesting and the book flows nicely, though slow in places, with a Christian message throughout. However, when one character dies, it is very heavy.
An interesting Christian novel with just enough suspense to keep me interested! I am now reading the second one in the series and not enjoying it quite as much as this one.
