The wisdom of Solomon was an extraordinary gift from God. Many consider Solomon, apart from Jesus, to be the wisest person to have ever lived. Have you ever wondered what Solomon would share with us about social media? Hashtag Wisdom is a straightforward look at how social media can influence us toward worldliness, and with the help of the wisdom of Proverbs, how we can resist. After each section in the book, questions encourage the reader to thoughtfully evaluate their own social media experience, recognize how social media is influencing them, and identify ways to be more effective at influencing their social network for Christ. The goal is not to disengage from our digital relationships. Instead, by applying the wisdom of Proverbs to our digital lives, we can become more effective in reaching others for Christ.
A good quick read considering 8 areas where Proverbs speaks directly to our use of social media. I was happy the author included areas like isolation and distraction, along with more expected qualities like pride and covetousness. Each "chapter" (more like essays, really) ended with pointed questions to think through your own social media usage, as well as practical and prayerful suggestions to grow in wisdom both on and offline. My only major complaint is that he never capitalized the word Scripture, which I believe is a sign of reverence; but other than that, the content is concise, on target, and relevant as long as we have social media platforms.
This was a very short but great read. I found myself highlighting more quotes than I have for longer works. I enjoyed the questions and the prompts to read scripture at the end of each chapter. I think this could be great for a small group/ Bible study setting.
