WHAT KIND OF CHURCH IS JESUS BUILDING? Many people today sense we have gotten so focused on planting and growing churches designed to meet people's expectations that we have lost sight of Jesus' original intent. When Jesus said he would build the church, what kind of church did he have in mind? A careful reading of the Gospels reveals Jesus' life was focused on three key Through personal stories, biblical teaching, and practical strategies, Bob Rognlien challenges you to explore the pattern of Jesus' life from a new perspective to see how it can change your life, your marriage, your family, and your church for the better. Empowering Missional Disciples is an in-depth introduction to this Jesus-shaped way of life and invitation to join a global movement which is equipping people to model and multiply this way of life in the lives of others.
I read this with a huddle group for work. And we dove into the frame work that this book is based on. It was good to show how Bible study and life groups can be built to actually grow a person and I really enjoyed the conversation that flowed from the group. If one was to pick up the book outside of that context they may find the content interesting but I think experiencing it raised the bar and makes it much more fulfilling. Very niche book but also this is the type of community most people are look to belong.
Focuses on Jesus' way of making disciples. It is a process of discipleship developed by 3D Movements and very applicable to the church for today. I have felt encouraged to live out and practice this kind of discipleship, even in a modified form, with the people in my circle of friendship and influence.
