Markus Selg: Chronik

Rate this book
This young German-born artist creates overwhelmingly effective color images of improbable landscapes populated with warriors, and assembles them into timeless narratives of battle, decline, fall and resurrection--scenes that seem to come right out of Max Ernst, or a video game. Of his method of digital collage, Selg has said, "After all, simulating painting isn't necessary anymore." He gives lie to that by composing his works like paintings, and then steaming them onto fabric, which gives their colors a velvety depth. A phosphorescent green and orange glowing sky recalls Matthias Grunwald, or perhaps Walt Disney.
