Text Me, Maybe was a sweet, quick and entertaining read.

The storyline kept me interested, the characters were likable and I thought they were perfect for each other.

What do you get when you cross You’ve Got Mail with Cyrano De Bergerac? An indulgent treat! A feel good read from beginning to end with a few moments of angst but loads and loads of warm fuzzy feelings!

I was greatly entertained by these characters and their good intentions. But we all know that the road to hell is paved by good intentions and I kept turning these pages waiting for the moment it would all blow up and go horribly wrong. Even though this book sets the premise for a book that promises a lot of angst and drama, it was relatively low on both, adding just enough to keep things exciting.

The characters themselves were impossible not to love. Lexie was real and quirky but not so much that she became annoying. Matthew was exceedingly charming and very sweet and the lengths he’d go to just to spend some time with Lexie or just talk to her were nothing but endearing. This couple was so cute together. There were moments of romance and moments of heat (who knew strawberries could be so damn sexy?!) and moments of humour.

All in all this was a great bit of escapism and a fun and light-hearted read you could lose yourself in. If that is what you’re looking for then this comes highly recommended.

Sometimes it's fun to read a book that you don't have to think a whole lot about. I think that's why I'm drawn to the romance genre for the most part. This one is the perfect example an entertaining book that you can just read and enjoy.

I like the basis of the story. An administrative assistant has to work a hookup for her boss, as strange as that may seem. And at the same time she's falling for her trainer at the gym who is a hottie. Who knew that these could be the same person? She never caught on until the end of the story and then of course he had hell to pay and she had to learned that she was just as wrong too.

I was drawn very much to the male lead, Matthew, but not so much the female lead Lexie. She was a bit ditzy and not a strong enough personality for this guy, who was not only Mr. Buns of Steel but he was also intelligent, charming, and cared a lot about her. She needs to get a clue and open her eyes!

I think this book has a lot of potential and it is being updated as we speak to a new publication date in July. I think that this book will be a much more engaging and stronger read after a few tweaks.

For the most part I did enjoy the story and look forward to more from this author.

I just really couldn’t connect with the characters in this novel at all. I don’t know if it is everything going on in my head at the moment causing the disconnect or if it just didn’t work.

The plot was good and the story was really well written and perfectly edited I just felt like I was being told and not shown and I didn’t get into it at all.

I wasn’t a fan of either character which didn’t help matters. I am sure this book will work for a lot of people but it just didn’t work for me this week.

Before I start, I have to admit I am not sure whether this was the updated version of the book or not as according to sources Jolyse Barnett updated the story after listening to customer's feedback the first time around - earlier this year when her book was published. So if my review is a little different to the book you have read, then I apologise in advance. Do you remember the classic novel Cyrano De Bergerac ? The one where loosely there were two best friends and they both had a crush on a guy and so what happened was that one of the friends was a quiet and normally stood in the shadows and the other was the pretty one and the extrovert who always got her way. In the story the lesser of the pretties started writing to him and over time they fell in love and connected , however the male had still in his mind it was the other girl. Text Me, Maybe is the 22nd century version where instead of writing letters, emails or sending IM's we have texting . Lexie has started a new job and really wants to keep it and she will do anything to make sure she isn't fired, when her new boss Sylvia gives her a task and lets her know her life depends on it - she will give it her all. Syvia has a crush on one of the gym trainers who we nickname Steel as in Buns of Steel. With Lexie's background in English Lit and BOS - a part-time Lit Professor , she believes it's the perfect way to catch his attention. What will happen though when Lexie starts to fall for her texting buddy and more so he does too ? Will Lexie get a HEA or will Buns of Steel go for her boss as he believes she is the "one" for him ? Text Me, Maybe reminded me also of the movies A Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff and A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song with Lucy Hale. As we take the words of Carly Rae Jepsen and substitute Call with Text , I advise you to check out Text Me, Maybe by Jolyse Barnett.

**** please note**** according to the publisher this book is being updated and the new version will contain significant changes.
My review is prior to the new release in July. Thank you for understanding.
--------------------------------------------
Honestly the blurb sounded cute in a meet a cute way which is why I wanted to read it but while reading I felt myself growing tired of the games and wondering when somethings were actually going to happen.

Lexie just moved to New York in hoping to make her dreams come true but by day she is an assistant. She wants to train for 5k run so she goes to the gym in her building where she meets Matthew the trainer.

These two characters are attracted to one another but Lexie doesn't believe he would be interested in her. When Lexie's boss asks her to set up a date with a trainer known as buns of steel by texting she agrees but the more time she spends texting this unknown man the more she feels attracted to him. Sooner rather then later Matthew knows it's Lexie texting him and but what will she do when she finds out its been him all along?

The characters were just okay for me. There were characteristics that I liked about them both but them getting together didn't really happen until maybe the last 25% of the story. They became friends of such while both were keeping secrets. When the big reveal happens I felt it had a little more drama then was needed. That part just felt like a soap opera and took away from them finally getting together.

Overall at the end I just didn't connect with these two characters or the story like I thought I would.

Oh what a tangled web we weave. When first we practice to deceive. - Sir Walter Scott

This is a story of lies upon lies with people pretending to be other people whilst exchanging texts. She’s using the mobile of her boss (on the instructions of her boss) to exchange texts with ‘Steel’ - the English Professor who is also a personal trainer. Her boss is trying to get him to go on a date but won’t tell Lexie his real name.

Matthew Hennessey is the recipient of the texts. He is also the hot, handsome personal trainer who is helping Lexie train to participate in the firm’s 5k run. He realises that Lexie is texting on behalf of her boss so doesn’t let on that he’s the one she’s texting. He is very attracted to Lexie and hopes by helping her succeed she’ll forgive him lying. Meanwhile their interactions are breaking down her reticence but what will happen when the lies are revealed?

What a convoluted set of aspirations, lies and anxieties the characters in this story have! It is the perpetuation of lies that causes all the problems - hence my use of Sir Walter Scott’s quote. It is small town girl with a history of a lying ex causing her heartbreak meeting a big city heartthrob who then lies to keep her interest. Definitely a recipe for disaster and misunderstandings! How on earth can they work it all out? Well, you’ll just have to read it yourself to find out!

Thanks to the publishers for gifting me an ARC of this novel, via NetGalley, in exchange for my honest review.

I was so excited to read this story, the blurb and cover really caught my attention and I couldn't wait to read it. The story started out strong, I liked the characters and the way the story was heading, unfortunately sometimes stories that start out strong end up taking a nose dive. I loved the texts between Matthew and Lexie even though Lexie thought she was texting her boss's love interest "Buns of Steel". The best part about this book was the texts, that's what kept me reading and not DNF'ing it.

I kept hoping the story would pick back up, but I just didn't care for how Lexie handled the whole situation once all was revealed. I hated how long it took for her to find out who Buns of Steel really is as well. Other people might enjoy this story more, but it wasn't for me. Sadly this had potential with the story line but it just didn't do it for me. I liked the characters and they were well developed and likable throughout the book up until the last 20% or so, that's when I felt completely disconnected and the most important parts of the book felt completely rushed in my opinion. The epilogue was sweet and a good addition since how things were left off were sort of up in the air. Text Me, Maybe is a 2.5 star read for me.

This was a cute read. It was very low of the drama, lovable characters and a cute fun plot. If your looking for a Cute, heartwarming funny read this book is for you.
There isn't really much that I can say. I really enjoyed the whole Secret texting without knowing, but I did feel the whole thing went on too long. The climax wasn't full of drama, which I really enjoyed.
Overall anyone that's looking for an easy read should read this, don't go in it thinking there's a lot of drama and angst or that the steam factor is high this is just a Cute good beach read. Matthew is definitely 3 stars all on his own! So overall the story was 4 stars for the characters and the plot.

This was a great book. It was funny, and it had a super fast pace, and I finished it a lot faster than I had anticipated, which is a good thing because now I can review it. I just didn’t want it to end; I wanted to know what was going to happen in the future and what happened in the past. I love it when I get like this because I know I really liked the book.

What I liked about this book was that I wasn’t sure what was going to happen next. It had some unpredictable moments where I was sure one thing would happen, but something else happened and I love it when that happens.

Lexie has had some messed up things happen to her, but she’s trying to move past that and move onward and upward. She doesn’t think about the things that have happened to her, which isn’t healthy and doesn’t really learn from her past experiences because she doesn’t acknowledge what was. This makes her being able to move forward that much more difficult. I can’t blame her though, because we all tend to gloss over bad things that have happened to us and we have a hard time getting through it and overcoming it and leaving it in the past where it belongs, and it doesn’t impact our future either. It’s tough.

Matthew has also had some messed up situations darken his life too and he’s struggling to deal with and not let it color how he interacts with people and impact his life.

They both make mistakes and allow their pasts to influence there here and now, however, they both recognize what they’re doing and, well, you know something good is going to happen.

This was a great read and if the reader wants to be entertained by a fast funny read, then they should get this book and give a go.

***Note: I read a previous copy of this book that was supposed to be released May 9th and the publisher has since pulled. From what I understand there will be significant changes made to the book, but I have chosen not to re-read the new version. So take this review with that in mind...the book that releases July 18th is NOT the version of the book that I read.***

My Review:
I started reading this book while I was watching the new TV show, Strong, which pairs up hot, sexy trainers with normal everyday women. It provided some great visuals for me as I started reading this really fun book.

This is a great premise for a story. Lexie is new to her NYC job. She's the personal assistant to a modern, single, gorgeous, confident woman who is juggling it all...including the sexy personal trainer that she wants to have sex with. Lexie's boss doesn't have time to engage in the witty banter the guy wants since he's a British Lit professor as his other job. Since Lexie is a bookworm, her boss puts her in charge of texting the guy to set up their hook-ups. At the same time, Lexie gets to take advantage of the companies relationship with the gym and meets her own hunk of a trainer, Matthew.

Matthew quickly realizes that Lexie is both his client and the girl texting him for her boss. But as his client, Lexie has put up walls to hold him at arms length. He's hoping that maybe he can use the connection through the texts to get to know the real her better.

While I hated that Matthew was lying (and of course, you know that's going to blow up in his face), I really liked why he did what he did. He's this gorgeous hunk of a guy who's also into books...pretty much perfect. But Lexie doesn't trust anyone especially a guy who is too gorgeous to be really into her. It made for a fun read and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The work dynamic was also interesting just that Matthew has other ties to the company where Lexie works. While it's easy to see where the story will go, that didn't make it any less enjoyable. It's a fun book and provided some fabulous mental visuals to go with reading it. Seriously, what girl wouldn't like to read about a hot trainer who goes for the normal girl rather than the perfect girl? I liked it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

*Mild Spoilers*

When I read the synopsis I was pretty much hooked. I couldn't wait to read it. One of my favorite kind of books to read...Texting!
If done properly. This book would have made me feel like I'm sneaking into a private conversation. Getting to know these characters in a more intimate level. And of course a little sexting!

Unfortunately... this book fell a little short for me.

This book started off easy enough. I got sucked in. But... As I kept reading it just started to taper down quite a bit. And I found myself putting my kindle down to do other things! I kept pushing myself to keep reading it.

This book was a very slow build up. And I just could not connect with the main characters.
To be quite honest. I didn't like the angle the author took in this book.
The texting was way over the top with all their Yeats, Victor Hugo & T.S. Eliot references. I hated how Lexie kept calling the cell phone a boy toy phone.
And I hated how Lexie's boss was even involved with the texting. (Meaning the text were supposed to be from Lexie's boss to Mathew... Not Lexie!) And I just felt that whole situation went on for far to long.
It just made the texting between the main characters not appealing.
It took forever for Mathew and Lexie to get together. I felt Lexie's reaction to everything was so blown out of proportion.
This book had it's moments with me. But unfortunately not enough for me to love it.

I've actually read two different versions of Text Me, Maybe so trying to be objective and not just compare the different versions is proving quite difficult - I think I have my librarian hat on, lol.

Text Me, Maybe is a cute romance where Lexie meets two halves of her ideal man in what she thinks is two separate individuals. Physically drawn to her adonis of a personal trainer, Matthew, while intellectually matched with the professor who has caught her boss's eye. Torn by her feelings as well as not only the no fraternization policy at the gym but the fact she could be competition for her boss and thus risk her hard-won career.

Matthew is adorably sweet with a side of hot. His reasons for working in a gym to help people achieve their fitness goals is a personal one stemming from his own battle with his weight as a teen. This insight added to his loveable quality. As did his love of literature, losing himself in the written word when the real world became too much to cope with. Matthew has his own issues with career-driven absentee and quite frankly very odd parents. However, his nurturing from his housekeeper has turned him into a compassionate caring individual. There are hints of a player past within the narrative but for the majority, Matthew may just be the perfect man.

The relationship between Lexie and Matthew progresses at a steady pace with lots of sweet as well as spicy moments. There is very little in the way of angst although Matthew is hiding some pertinent information regarding his family connections; however, rather than add difficulty to the relationship it aids it in a number of ways.

Text Me, Maybe is really adorable and well worth losing yourself in for a few hours

Rosalie's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Matthew Hennessey is a Brit Lit Professor and trainer at the J&C Company gym. He worked hard to become a professor, reaching the top with sheer determination, but his life wasn't an easy road to hoe. His parents were never there for him (and non existent when they were around), and the only person that mattered to him, his childhood housekeeper, in a nursing home, sick. When Lexie Bloom comes into the gym, and he is assigned as her personal trainer, he feels his life might just be looking up.

Lexie Bloom is determined to get in shape while trying to achieve her goal of becoming a playwright. And it isn't going to kill her to look at her sexy as hell personal trainer, Matthew, while achieving this. But when her fantasies become a smoking hot reality, she constantly waits for the other shoe to drop....and boy when it does....all hell breaks lose!

The one thing I really struggled with this read is how long it took for the two main characters, Lexie and Matthew, to finally get together. I felt like there was roadblock after roadblock and then someone coming in while they were trying to even kiss...it just seemed to take FOREVER! The chemistry between them, when something finally did happen, was good, but both always seemed so WORRIED that it would all blow up that I even, as the reader, started worrying and getting anxious, waiting for something horrible to happen! I loved how Lexie was able to battle through a horrible time in her life, helping Matt. The two really did have good characteristics, which made it a solid 3.5* read.

Text Me Maybe is a cute, fun little feel good story that leaves you in a warm, happy mood! I loved the characters and could see how their intentions were good, their execution though, was not so good. I knew all along there would be a huge reveal and was counting down the pages until it happened. There was plenty to keep me interested and I was hoping when the blow up occurred, there would be enough between these two to overcome the fall out.

Lexie was a super sweet girl, although she was a bit naïve too. She was guilty of trying to please everyone at the expense of herself. He boss definitely overstepped her bounds, but being in a new job, I could see how she wouldn't turn her down being a people-pleaser and all. Matthew was charismatic and as a personal trainer, you knew he was ripped too! He went the extra mile to simply get to know her better! How valiant! They did have an easy-going chemistry and I felt clicked rather effortlessly. They truly belonged together. The road getting there was definitely a journey.

This book gave us sexy, humorous, endearing and even a little heart-wrenching scenes along the way. I thoroughly enjoyed getting from A to B even with a detour along the way. If you are looking for one of those lite reads after a long, heavy novel, then grab this little nugget and enjoy the retreat!

This was fun. I was hooked from the beginning with Matthew and his quotes. Lexie is sweet and confused that is for sure. She comes to the city hoping to get a career and falls for someone or as she thinks two someones. She thinks one is for her boss and the other is out of her league.

Little does she know they are both the same person and he is trying to get her in both personas. The texts are fun and flirty but so is their encounters. He as her trainer is great. So serious when needed. When she sees him on campus she mistakes him for something other than he is and you get a sense of forbidden there.

Each interaction between Matthew and Lexie is fun, flirty and full of chemistry with a hint of more. Each character is sweet and adds to the overall entertainment of the book. The love story is a fun journey in which Matthew finds his one and shows her what romance is and also grows more to what he wants to be and Lexie learns more about herself, gains confidence and learns love and romance is alive while finding the one for her. A entertaining light read that keeps you smiling and enjoying the flirty easy going atmosphere that Matthew and Lexie have as you watch them fall in love and have a happy ending with one another.

Lexie moved to New York to both get away and go after her dreams. Lexie meets Matt, a personal trainer at her company's gym, who unbeknownst to her is also a Lit professor. Her boss requests Lexie to setup a date with one of the trainers at the gym. Low and behold they are the same guy. Lexie doesn't know or realize this, but Matt does.
Lexie struck me, at least at first, as a bit immature, naive, and unsure of herself. She had a Bad Thing happen to her with her high school boyfriend that she (of course) carried through to her current view of relationships. I didn't like that she allowed that *one* experience to have so much power over her. As the book progressed, she does grow.
I did like Matt, but I thought he allowed the deception to go on for a little too long. However, the reveal had drama. I did like the epilogue as it showed them about a year later.
I did like that Lexie's boss wasn't portrayed as a bitch (as women in power so often are).

This review is of the re-written book.

Unfortunately, this one didn't get better for me with the redo. I had a lot of hope as the potential was there, but it still feels off for me. I don't like the idea that she is flirting with him for her boss; I don't relate to her; their chemistry falls flat for me; and I just can't engage with a book in which it feels like one of the characters is playing the other for a fool.

One is a professor, one is a personal trainer. The problem, for me, is that the personal trainer was the one she was spending the time with, but the professor was the one she was texting...and I felt you got to know the one she was texting so much better than the one she spent time with...so her attraction to "both" of them felt odd to me.

I chose to stop this one at 42% DNF

One woman, two men…or is there? Lexie is on assignment to hook up her boss via text message. Big problem is she feels herself falling for a man she never met and knows nothing about other that he’s a sexy personal trainer from the company gym. While at the same time she’s insanely attracted to her own personal trainer but isn’t opening up to him. Matthew is both men and quickly catches on that Lexie is the one texting him for her boss. He really wants to get to know this intriguing girl but with her putting up walls the only way he’s able to break through is via text. What is Lexie gonna think once she finds out that both Matthew and mystery man she’s texting are one and the same? Text Me, Maybe is a sweet slightly complicated read. I really liked it. I would give it 4 stars.

Four Great Stars! Lexi is working as an assistant in a company and also writing plays in her spare time after moving to NYC. Matthew is Lexi's trainer in the gym and she is attracted towards him even though she shouldn't be because of her trust issues. In the meantime she is texting with a man whom her boss wants and Lexi is getting to know him as a romantic. What will Lexi do when she finds out that they are both the same guy? This book is a cute, light read and is good to read after an emotionally draining story. I enjoyed the story and found it to be well written. The characters had great chemistry. I recommend this romantic story!

This was a really cute read. A bit drawn out for my taste but overall it was entertaining. Lexie Bloom has just started her job in NYC so she'll do whatever it takes to keep it. Even if that means Lexie is sending texts for her boss to the British Lit Professor her boss has her eye on. While things are going well in the office, the real fun is happening in the gym. It's hard work training for a 5K but the hunky personal trainer Lexie is working with, Matthew, makes it completely worth her time. What she doesn't know is that Matthew may be a personal trainer by night but by day he is a professor of British Lit. Yep! That professor!

I really fun read I think you will enjoy. I recommend it.

This is such a great modern-day love story. Lexie is a aspiring playwright all her life. But just like everyone else, she has to have a day-job working as an assistant. When her boss gives her a personal task, Lexie finds herself in an unusual situation. Matthew is Lexie's trainer at her firm's gym. From the first training session, Matthew knew he want to put the personal into being her personal trainer.

Jolyse Barnett hit a home run with Text Me, Maybe. Part Cyrano De Bergerac, Text Me brings the best of both worlds to the forefront with subtle charm and modern sex appeal. The comedy of errors just adds to the irresistible quality of the story. For me, Ms. Barnett embodied the sweet, shyness that makes falling in love so special.

Not for me. I don't know what I expected but this is a kind of soft clone of the 50 Shades books and I wondered if the writer is E.L. James using a pen name because of the "Oh my"s, the interior monologue of annoying thoughts and so on, or if this is just an imitator of that style. I didn't like the protagonist from the get-go—too shallow for my tastes and I would have to be 15 years old to relate to her. I admit, I'm not a fan of romances per se, but I have read few, so maybe this is in line with what romance novels are now. It just didn't work for me and I was so irritated by chapter one that I only scanned the rest of the book and realized I'd be just as irritated throughout. I did read the ending, though, knowing of course how it ends as almost all romances seem to. I guess such men exist in fantasyland, or for a brief moment in time during courtship, but it's too far from reality for me. Anyway, again, not for me by a mile.

Lexie Bloom's moved to NYC, got a new job, and joined the gym. Her trainer, Matthew Hennessey, raises her heartrate in more than one way, but after her last terrible relationship, she's a little hesitant to put herself out there again. Then her boss tasks Lexie with playing Cyrano with a Brit Lit prof she wants to land a date with. That guy's texts make her swoon, but she's blissfully unaware that these guys she's hot for are conveniently one and the same...

Jolyse Barnett's writing kept me turning the pages, even as it seemed like one thing after another kept these two from realizing that the other is their perfect match and from revealing their truths. Both Lexie and Matthew are charmingly likable, and have good pals who step up to help them when needed. All in all, an entertaining read!

What do you call a book that's not a DNF but something you skimmed through? A Skimmer?
That's what happened here. I skimmed after about 42%. I could not find it in myself to care about what was happening between the H/h. Not sure why either.

DNF at 75%

I tried...I really tried. The premise sounded fun, but even 3/4 of the way through the book, I had no idea what was going on, who felt what for who, or who knew what.

I was looking for a light, romantic read and that's exactly what I got with Text Me, Maybe. I enjoyed the premise of Lexie thinking she was falling for two guys at the same time. She fell in love with Matthew's body and the literary professor's brain, at least in the beginning. It was kind of frustrating to see Matthew playing both himself and "Steel", as Lexie called him (short for "buns of steel"), throughout pretty much the entire novel. It was obvious to see that once she found out that he was actually the guy she had been texting, the guy she was supposed to be setting her boss up with, she would be understandably upset. I guess, though, if he had come clean as soon as he found out, Lexie probably would have backed off right away in order to not make her boss angry and potentially lose her job. When you look at it that way, it had to happen as it did, even if it was like a slow-motion train wreck; you could see Matthew approaching an eventual crash-and-burn, but were powerless to do anything but enjoy the chemistry between the couple.

Matthew was so sweet. He was always going out of his way to help others and the date nights he set up proved he was really paying attention to her and wanted to do things that would make her happy. He was patient, kind, considerate...heck, he was pretty much perfect boyfriend material. Except of course for the lying to the object of his affection, but all his other good qualities made up for his poor judgment in handling the texting situation.

Lexie was a bit hesitant about the whole "love" scenario. She had been burnt one too many times and had lived her life with a mom who equated happiness with being in a relationship. She didn't exactly know what love was supposed to look like and even when she started to get to know Matthew and fall for him, she pulled away. Her reactions seemed to come out of left field sometimes, but I'm guessing she just had the instinct to flee when she felt things were getting too intense. Getting dumped never feels good, so I can't fault her for not wanting to experience that again, even if it was annoying to see her running away from someone who only wanted to be there for her.

I'm not really sure how to feel about Lexie's boss, Sylvia Swann. I did chuckle every time she was in a scene because she was usually referred to as "Ms. Swann" (MadTV anyone?). Sometimes she seemed like a snooty man-eater, other times she seemed like she might actually be an alright friend. Honestly, she wasn't in the book enough to make a definitive statement on that. I really thought she would have played more of a part, considering Lexie was going through all of this trouble texting a "stranger" on her behalf. In the end, she still fulfilled her destiny of ramping up the suspense when the proverbial crap hit the fan.

If you're looking for a book with tons of twists, turns, and suspense, this probably isn't the read for you. However, if you're in the mood for a romantic read complete with an adorable impromptu karaoke number reminiscent of Heath Ledger's scene-stealer in 10 Things I Hate About You, then you will likely enjoy Text Me, Maybe.

Actual Rating 3.75 stars

When you have such a cute blurb, you just know that you need to pick this one up – and it was such a treat to read this cute little romance of misunderstandings.

Lexie Bloom is new to the Big Apple, and though she has aspirations of becoming a writer, till she can make a break, she has started working as an Executive Assistant in an MNC. Now she knows that assistants nothing more than gofers for their bosses, she is still shocked when her boss asks her to woo a man using her literature background. So accepting the order with apprehensions, she sallies forth and gets right on her assignment.

The man though is none other than the trainer at their company gym – Mathew Hennessey, a man who Lexie was attracted to from the FIRST meet. Really! But she doesn’t really know that!

Now, Mathew is a Brit Lit Professor as well as a trainer and is enchanted by Lexie as well and that enchantment just freaking blooms the more he gets to know her!

Now, Lexie is a very cautious person, but since she is wooing a guy over text messages and that guy doesn’t even know who she actually is, she ends up opening to him, but the kicker actually is that Mathew knows that she is the one texting him, so he is also more open to talking to her over texts.

Now, this romance had all the makings of being actually a very cute romance, and it was really – I adored the kind of soulful connection that Mathew and Lexie seemed to have with each other and it was absolutely wonderful to read the kind of mistakes that they could have made, but didn’t cause logical minds prevailed ;)

But I had one issue with the book – it was written in a way that seemed like I had missed that there was a book where these characters were already introduced and their background stories already told and that wasn’t actually true – for I checked. The plot made so many references to their past and their reasons for their reticence. And that made it a bit of irritant, for the author went about giving references that I KNEW weren’t actually explained in the book, though to be fair, she did go on to explain at least part of it towards the end of the book – but in my opinion it would have gone a bit better if these pertinent facts were explained at the start, even if it were a part of the internal monologue of the characters!

Still, this was a book I could have curled up with in the bed late at night (which I did!), and end up with a warm feeling, because too much drama, even in fiction can be draining after a hard day!
