Roman continues to show her unique ability to create captivating children's books. Is there anything this author can't do? This book is different than her other series, and just as good. The lyrical prose is mesmerizing for young children's ears to listen to. The artwork is beautiful and the colors so enchanting. My daughter and I really loved this book and read it three times in one sitting. And it was educational, as well as entertaining.

This was a very sweet bedtime story. I liked the verses and my mom thought it was a very cute space story (she loves space books).
The illustrations were wonderfully done - dreamy and adorable. Very gentle and calming.
Overall, a lovely book!

Two little boys visit the stars and planets on a special rocket ship during the night. The words are written in a lyrical, poem style. The illustrations are colorful, fun, and fill each page. They draw the reader in to the story, fostering creativity and imagination. The font meanders across the page in a whimsical style. The story ends as the children come to rest in their little beds at the end of their journey with their toy rocket beside them.
Children will love the pictures and the easy flow of words. The book can also be educational as most of the planets with some brief descriptions are given in the poem. The colors of the illustrations are muted to provide a great backdrop for the bedtime story. The words flow smoothly and the story ends with a good closing for bedtime. Overall, my children really enjoyed this book and I enjoyed reading it to them. I would recommend this as a great bedtime story for young children interested in astronomy.

This lovely bedtime story takes two young boys on an adventure in space before bedtime. As they ride atop a rocket ship, they travel past the moon and planets while viewing constellations along the way. But, every trip across the galaxy ends up in their bed ready to sleep.
The author uses a rhyming scheme to travel through the pages and the rhymes work well without any awkward words. You can easily teach your child more about the planets and constellations by looking for them in the night sky before going to bed.
In this book, the muted illustrations work nicely to bring a calming feel to the story. But, the artists style of illustrations appears a bit blurry on the pages.
If you have a space-loving boy or are looking for a new addition to your bedtime stories, ROCKET-BYE will take them on an adventure at every bedtime.

You will wonder from above how small everything is down on Earth, how close and friendly our constellations look and how bright the stars are, shining and lighting the way on the trip to all the planets.
I like that it not only is a fun journey to the skies but also teaches about the planets. I am sure more than one pirate will love to ride this rocket and have very close look at what it is untouchable.
I love the rhyming and the beautiful illustrations. Her poem will open the imagination to all kids on a wonderful journey to far away wonders.

We received this book to give an honest review.
Both K and A enjoyed the book as they both thought it was cool that there was a rocket ship that was going around the planets. For K he really enjoyed knowing there were different planets and the pictures were well drawn. A on the other hand just thought it was neat that two people were riding on a rocket ship and she wanted to do the same. This book is a good read for bedtime as it gets the kids settled down with a wonderful story and ready to sleep and dream of maybe them being in space among the stars.

Rocket-Bye, by award-winning author Carol P Roman, is a delightful bedtime poem sure to bring sweet dreams to young children. Illustrator Mateya Arkova beautifully portrays the story with muted colors and charming pictures. Youngsters will climb on a rocket ship and become pirates of the sky as they travel through the wonders of the stars and each of the planets of the universe. And all too soon the flight ends safely at home in bed. A lovely book to begin teaching children about the planets and with the lilt of the poem, lull them to slumberland.

Rocket-Bye is a whimsical outer-space exploration that will leave little readers awestruck.
In this absolutely precious adventure, children travel through the heavens where they view beautiful constellations and amazing galaxies before returning home for a peaceful slumber.
The story is told in gentle, soothing rhyme and the illustrations are magically created with soft colors. A perfect bedtime story to lull little ones to sleep.
I highly recommend picking up a copy.

Cute rhymes for a fun space odyssey. Playful, bright and cheerful! It even mentions some planets and constellations which I liked for the educational side. The kids really loved this one when I read it to them. They want to take their own space trip now.

This book is a chronicle of a voyage of the imagination, where two children hop literally on top of a rocket ship and then fly on it through the solar system, starting with Mercury and then outward past all the planets. Along the way, they look at some of the most prominent stars and the constellations they are a part of. At the end, the two children are tucked into their beds and are sound asleep.
The structure of the story is as a set of two line structures where the lines rhyme. They are short sentences, roughly at the level of a late first or early second grade reader. The images have a washed out appearance and the boundaries of the items in the images are fuzzy rather than sharp. Space is depicted as having a bluish color with purplish clouds in it. Not scientifically accurate, but more in keeping with the imaginations of two young children on an adventure.
The story does what the creators intended, it stimulates the imagination of children as they are preparing for bed. Whether they read it or it is read to them, it will excite them a bit, but not so much that it is counterproductive to their sleep preparations.

Rocket-Bye is about two young boys (the author’s grandchildren) who once bedtime arrives their journey to the stars and beyond begins on a rocket ship.
Rocket-Bye is not a traditional story picture book but a book written in rhyming verse about 2 young boys who travel into space and throughout the galaxy looking at the moons, stars and planets all while asleep… he is of course having a wonderful dream. All told in short verses in makes a great book for bedtime reading.
Illustrated by Mateya Arkova is bright pastel colours and with a cartoon style with blurred edges to fit in with the dream theme, it captures the imagination and looks great.
Not only is it a great short book perfect for bedtimes, it also has some educational value by introducing children to planet names, star constellations and not being afraid.
A perfect outer space story that is out of this world and one that children will love reading (and being read to) while admiring the beautiful illustrations and the rhyming verse makes it a perfect and gentle tale for bedtime reading.

Many times it can be a struggle as children (especially toddlers and pre-schoolers) don’t want to go to bed. Children will get excited for bedtime with this book by award winning author Carole P. Roman.

Carole P. Roman has written a lovely little book for children of all gender and all ages. I can definitely see myself sitting and reading this to my granddaughter who is two years old. It is very simply written and not long so as to keep her attention, plus has wonderfully colorful Illustration by Mateua Arkova. The Illustration look as if they are watercolor creations.
Children of all genders and ages will love this space themed story featuring two kids on a surreal journey through space. They travel through the stars and see the milky war, the stars, and the planets. It isn't just a wonderful fantasy of dreams and space wonderfulness but a great educational book through fun wonders as Roman identifies the sights by name: the Milky way, the planets: Venus, Saturn, Mars, constellations such as Leo the lion as well as stars- Polaris and Rigel. The educational details Roman adds to the book adds to the richness of this story.

This gentle bedtime poem/story takes two siblings on a rocket ride through space and lands them safe and sound in their own beds at the story's end.
The illustrations are amazing. The lyrical verse is tender and inviting, and without realizing it, young children will learn about our solar and celestial system.
The words per page and the white lettering were perfect. My only complaint is that the font was too small. Font size can enhance the reading experience or take away from it. This beautiful book needs words that are easy to find on the page and easy to see. There was plenty of space to increase the font size without altering the overall look or feel of the story.

I love Rocket-Bye by Carole P. Roman. I never took an astronomy class, and this book gives me a quick introduction to some of the concepts in astronomy. I learned the names of stars like Polaris, Castor and Rigel. These are stars known for their brightness in the sky. I am motivated to learn more about each star because Carole has introduced them to me. I want to learn what makes each planet in our solar system special. I knew that Mars has a red surface that makes it special. Saturn is famous for having rings around it. But I want to know what makes the other planets unique like Venus, Uranus and Neptune. I love the illustrations by Mateya Arkova. Her illustrations are colorful and fun to look at. This book raises my interest in astronomy. I love it when a book motivates me to learn more about a subject.

The story of two children zooming around on a rocketship is written with dream like quality. With artwork that is fun, whimsical and smart, this book is a great before bedtime tale.
Author Carole P. Roman has a knack for coming up with cute and informative children's books. Rocket - Bye is no different, as it goes through the planets names and a view of the stars. You and any child will be filled with calm wonder.
I had only one issue with Rocket-bye is that in the part where the children learn the names of the planets, Pluto is the last named. To my knowledge Pluto is no longer cataloged as a planet. Or I could be wrong and it may have been changed it back.
Rocket - Bye is for both boys and girls. It is not too challenging to read and is a joy to view as is all of Carole P. Roman’s books.

I love her other award winning series' but I was very glad to see some other writings from this very talented author. In Rocket-Bye you have a virtual trip throughout space and science and make it home in time for bed. With very dramatic rhyme it is a perfect read aloud bedtime story!

ROCKET-BYE by Carole P. Roman is another great children's book that is filled with wonderful text and vividly colored illustrations about our galaxy that children can learn about as they travel through the pages and wonder what will appear first on this exciting trip beyond the blue. Along the way the planets seem to pause, for a spellbound glance at all their many fascinating wonders, and the stars sparkle like little diamond treasures, hidden among a blanket of velvety black as the rocket, as in slow motion, glides past them and the amazing constellations. I love this wonderful little book filled with obtainable knowledge about the universe. Wow! A wonderful story-time book that will capture the children's imagination!

This book is told in beautiful prose and teach important lessons of dreams and adventures. Written by Carol P. Roman, author of the If you were me and lived in… series as well as the Captain No Beard series and beautifully illustrated by Mateya Arkova. Rocket-Bye is an adventure of a rocket ship as it travels through the stars, the Milky Way, the constellations and past the planets. During the trip, the different plants are mentioned as well as their position in the solar system. The constellations are named with clues to the legends for which they are named. I loved this book. The great adventure in Rocket-Bye as well as the beautiful illustrations inspire children to dream and dream big. I highly recommend this book for any family or school library.

So where did the nursery rhymes go. Anyone from my generation grew up with them, heard them in first grade and probably told them to our children. But like the pay phone they have become scarce, but not quite extinct. It’s all as well as I never did buy that cow jumping over the moon bit and what is that tuffet thing little Miss Muffet sat on. Not to worry, step in to today’s world. Carole P. Roman writes a series of children’s books that are more in keeping with the world we live in now, at least the proper children’s stories, no need for politics or terrorists’ tales. Rocket Bye is geared for the toddler in need of a bedtime story and the rhyming is there to hold the child’s attention and awaken awareness to the magic of words. Step aside Mama Goose, your time has passed.

This was a wonderful treasure to read --- the illustrations went along so well rocketing through the sky! The author and illustrator even outlined some of the constellations so you saw them as you went by! Such lovely writing, plot and story --- great to read to and/or let your kids read to you! This kind of book is great for various charity work also --- I did like ten years with hospice care and a LOT of my full grown adult patients loved this kind of a story! I even learned a bit and saw things in the sky I love to see!

Rocket-bye is A cute lullaby for children of all ages. This little adventure takes kids into flight while stationed in their own beds. My daughter is six, A kindergartner, learning to read. This book used words that were easy for her to sound out and understand. The great thing about Carol's rating is that it reaches children of all ages and walks of life. Five stars.

This is a cute short picture book for young children. The rhyming in the book is done very well by the author. The pages are full color and well done.

Forget about rock-a-bye baby, Rocket-Bye is so much more entertaining. Two children climb aboard a rocket and take a tour of the solar system in this fun bedtime story. Rhyming text narrates their trip as they rise above the trees with the houses below growing smaller and smaller. The moon smiles at them, the Milky Way beckons to them, and they imagine they are pirates sailing through the sky. During their trip they fly past each planet, noting things like Saturn's rings and Jupiter's eye as they zip by. They also pay attention to the constellations that they see like Draco and Leo. Stars that are bright and easy to see in the night sky such as Polaris, Castor, and Rigel make an appearance. And after all those faraway sights, they end up at home, safely tucked in bed.
The illustrations are done in soft colors suitable to bedtime, with lots of soft curving shapes and an absence of harsh edges. Readers will have fun comparing the sights from the space tour to those in the children's bedroom. The illustrations are done in soft colors suitable to bedtime, with lots of soft curving shapes and an absence of harsh edges. Readers will have fun comparing the sights from the space tour to those in the children's bedroom. Travel to the stars in a rocket ship, orbit the moon & go past lots of planets to reach a unknown galaxy.
Things look so tiny below you on earth.
You go through the clouds.
The constellations fill the sky.

An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary age) rhyming space travel storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s educational presentation (space travel), movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

Rocket-Bye, by Carole P. Roman, is a pleasant ride through dreamtime on a rocket that travels through space. With fun rhyming phrases and watercolor illustrations, the reader flies by the moon and stars, constellations, and planets, and returns safely home where they’re sleeping safely in their beds.
This is a fun, rhythmic story for children of all ages. This softbound book strengthens the imagination, taking the reader on a journey through our wondrous galaxy.

Two young siblings dream of exploring the galaxy as pirates in the sky. Each night they imagine riding a rocket ship while zipping past the planets and constellations in the heavens. Magically, at the end of their journey, the children find themselves safely tucked in their beds.
Simple rhyming verse will delight young preschoolers. Watercolors are stunning and colorful. At times they are so dynamic that they somewhat diminish the text and images of the children. All in all this bedtime story is fuel for the imagination and a feast for the eyes. Highly recommended for children In preschool and early elementary grades.

Rocket-Bye takes a trip through the stars, from the mom, to the stars, to the planets, and back again. Children will find this imaginative look at a foray through the galaxy. Parents will enjoy the smooth cadence and the easy, rhythmic pace of the book. I was not a fan of the watercolor illustrations, as they appeared blurry to me. The washed out colors did not aid in the reading of the text and, in fact, made it a bit difficult to get through. The well paced rhyme sequences were pleasing, however, and young readers will enjoy Rocket-Bye.
