Sudden Falls #7

Blowing Jack's Cover

Rate this book
Testosterone. Brass Knuckles. Glitter. Hard-edged, trash-talking DEA agent Jack Redmond is willing to do anything to uncover a mob-led drug ring, even go undercover as an out-and-proud bartender who’s everyone’s friend. Then he meets Marissa Vallatigno, the suspected weak link in the mob ring, and it’s all he can do to keep his hands off her.   Not cool. Endlessly accommodating Marissa owes everything to her uncle who’s groomed her to manage his multi-million-dollar bar & restaurant empire. Nothing – especially a gorgeous bartender with questionable sexual orientation – is going to cause her to let her uncle down. But when Marissa learns the truth about her uncle’s business partners and about Jack’s undercover assignment, she’s had it with playing good girl. She needs to save her uncle from a very real threat, and she needs Jack—the real Jack—to help her do it. Marissa may have perfected the art of playing it safe, but nothing proves as satisfying as Blowing Jack’s Cover.

Blowing Jack's Cover, written by Elizabeth Bemis, is an awesome romantic suspense novel. Elizabeth Bemis is one of my go to authors because her books never disappoint!! If this is a new author for you, I promise you will definitely become a fan after reading this. The author has a writing style that draws you in immediately, and before you even realize it, you will read the book in one sitting! Yes, her books are always that good!!

DEA Agent Jack Redmond is going undercover, working on a case to bring down a mob drug ring. What makes this case different from the other cases he has worked on is the undercover role he is playing this time around...a gay bartender at Spica's Spanker. The bar is one of many businesses owned by the Corvus Group, and the man he is investigating, Nikola Sokoloff. Jack thinks this will be a routine case, until he meets Marissa Vallatigno, Nikola's niece and also manager of the bar. The attraction is obvious between them, but of course, he's supposed to be gay. Jack knows he has a job to do, but that gets increasingly complicated the more he is around Marissa.

The story that unfolds is well written, and also well executed. This book has it all...action, suspense, romance and humor. This is a fun, fast-paced read, that had me captivated from the opening page until the very last page. I loved all of the characters, and felt they were realistic and genuine. The fact that Jack's boss, Al, also happens to be his ex-wife was amusing to me...and I liked the fact that they maintained a relationship after the divorce. His partner, Flynn, is also his best friend, and has his sights set on Al. This is really two love stories in one, so that was a definite bonus. Marissa's dedication to her beloved uncle was definitely believable...the bond of family is always strong. Overall, this was just another brilliantly written and executed novel by Elizabeth Bemis, and one I would strongly recommend reading!

I received an advance copy of this book from Elizabeth Bemis in exchange for an honest review.

Blowing Jack's cover is all about excitement, intrigue, and suspense. Jack Redmond is a sexy DEA agent working undercover as a gay bartender. Sweet Marissa Vallatigno runs the bar and some restaurants for her uncle. Jack is convinced that Marissa and her uncle are running drugs through the bar and restaurant. He has a hard time pretending he is gay around Marissa because there is a lot of chemistry between the two of them. Unfortunately for Jack Marissa discovers that he is a DEA agent and that he is not gay. There are a few twists in the story to surprise you too. Throw in Jack's ex-wife who is his boss and Jack's best friend Flynn, who works undercover with Jack and the story is even more interesting, especially when sparks fly between Al and Flynn. I cannot wait to read other books by Elizabeth Bemis! This one is really good and I really like the story and the four main characters.

Blowing Jack's Cover by Elizabeth Bemis is a great read! Jack is a hot DEA agent working with his partner and ex-wife to infiltrate the mob. His latest undercover assignment: a gay bartender for the Corvus Group. He doesn't mind until he meets Marissa, his boss. Now his assignment just got complicated. Jack wants to bring down her Uncle and Marissa will do anything for her beloved Uncle. I loved this story. It has a lot of action, humor and adorable animals. I am a huge fan of Ms. Bemis and highly recommend Blowing Jack's Cover! I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

2 romantic couples for the price of one!!

This was a really good, fast paced, romantic suspense. Jack goes undercover as a gay bartender, to crack a drug case, and bring a criminal to his knees. His DEA boss is his ex-wife Al, and his partner is his best friend, Flynn. His boss while working in the bar is Marissa.

The entire operation just got a lot more complicated. This book grabs you from the very beginning, and doesn't let go until the last page.

I definitely recommend this book.

An entertaining story with some romance and suspense. The characters were somewhat believable given the type of story it is. It was well written, in my humble opinion, and kept my interest.
