A quick paced book of a group of rabid hyenas. If you thought rabid dogs are ferocious, think again. Laughing hyenas on the rampage, ripping flesh and causing havoc over london. A great description of the demise of a rabid infected victim before death. Its all here.
Not a supernatural book, as possibly suggested by the cover, but the story of a couple of rabies infected hyenas illegally smuggled into England and the havoc they cause.
Burgoyne's prose can be rather graphic, particularly in describing the various attacks by the hyenas. The description of a group of homeless winos is rather interesting, for want of a better word.
A romantic entanglement, although it doesn't take up that much space, seems pointless and doesn't add anything to the plot. Add the usual end twist to suggest all is not over and you have an adequately written but average novel of its type.
Victoria Burgoyne is an actress best known for appearing in the incomplete Dr. Who story, Shada. It wasn't finished due to a BBC strike. It was later completed as an animation, to which Burgoyne contributed her voice. "Savaged" appears to be her only contribution to literature.
