Vastly Increase Your Income Potential by Effectively Promoting Yourself on LinkedIn Learn How to Write Your LinkedIn Profile That very Nearly Guarantees More and Better Connections, a stream of Job Offers and Leads for Your Business If you leave your LinkedIn profile the way it is now, then chances are no matter how exceptional you are, you will still be stuck in the same dull, unrewarding job or still struggling daily to get leads for your business five years from today. Are you happy working in the same unsatisfying, underpaying job day after day, or desperately and usually unsuccessfully attempting to find people who are interested in your products and services? Or would you prefer to have job opportunities and business leads come to YOU, offering to employ YOU or pay YOU money, by learning to write your own LinkedIn profile that attracts the right people directly to your inbox? I have been where you are today. I worked in unsatisfying jobs for employers that didn't care and wouldn't reward good and competent service. I remained in jobs for years, sending out thousands of resumes, hoping that someone would recognize my value. To make more money, I tried creating my own services and products and desperately searched for ways to market them. I must have tried hundreds of different marketing and promotional methods, with limited and mixed success. What pulled me through was lots of study, specialized training, and practice. More importantly, I believed in myself and the value I could provide to employers and customers for my products and services. At first I was happy to find a new client now and then to make some extra money. But later, I learned how to promote myself effectively and those customers started to come to me. Instead of wasting time, day after day, fruitlessly searching, they sent me emails asking, no demanding, my services and employment. Once you understand the unique importance of LinkedIn, you have found one of the best ways to get employers and clients to come to you. Increase your qualified leads by targeting your LinkedIn to the right audience Decrease the time you spend fruitlessly searching for anyone who will buy your products or services, or offer you a position in their company. Explode the size of your professional network by spending as little as a few hours optimizing your professional brand on LinkedIn By defining your personal brand and writing an effective message, you can effectively grow a professional network which looks to you for answers. A well-written LinkedIn profile can lead you to an increase in business or job offers several times the current level Increase your earnings while reducing the time you spend with unqualified leads and employers.
After spending 33 years in the computer and information technology industry, Richard decided to take an early retirement to pursue his dreams of becoming a professional writer and published author. Richard is a leader in the computer industry, serving as Vice President of Consulting at Software Techniques and Beck Computer Systems before settling down as Director of Computer Operations at Trader Joe’s. During his twenty-year tenure at TJs, he focused on computer security and preparing for the possibility of disaster.
In addition to creating hundreds of articles for the web, Richard actively works as a professional ghostwriter. In that role, he has completed books on a wide variety of subjects including memoirs, business volumes, and novels. Because of his in-depth background in software management and computer security, Richard has ghostwritten several major books in those areas.
Additionally, Richard has published books of his own: Safe Computing is Like Safe Sex and Real World Survival Tips and Survival Guide, respectively touch on the subjects of computer security and how to survive emergencies and disasters. Richard has also written and published a series of short eBooks on the aspects of freelance writing, including blogging and ghostwriting.
An avid adventurer, Richard has been a photographer for much of his life, with a focus on nature, scenic, performance and event photography. He has done everything from hiking in dozens of national parks throughout the country, to photographing various unique festivals and events, such as the Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade Ball and the World Mermaid Awards Convention. He is well known in the Renaissance Festival and Belly Dance communities, having photographed over 1,200 dance events and 400 festivals.
Richard is currently working on a large number of short Kindle eBooks on a wide variety of subjects. Beginning in 2016, the first of a ten-volume series of Science Fiction novels will be published.
For many years I've had a LinkedIN profile yet I found FOCUSED ON LINKEDIN filled with innovations and creative ideas. Richard G. Lowe knows the ins and outs of this social media network. His advice is often simple yet important. He calls to your attention the various tools yet cautions readers not to be overly promotional.
Under the section about updates and posting, Lowe writes, "It is bad form to be overly promotional on LinkedIn. You wouldn't walk around a social event shoving flyers in the people's hands without at least striking up a conversation, would you? If you did do, you probably find that virtually all those pieces of paper wound up in the trash can." (Page 65)
In the opening to this book, Lowe writes, "The purpose of this book is to help guide you through the maze of LinkedIn, so you can use it effectively in your professional business life." (Page vii). Every professional and business owner can profit from the wisdom in this book. It is a well-written and well-researched book and I recommend it.
Richard G. Lowe, Jr. gave me a review copy of this book for my honest review.
This book goes way beyond the tips of how to use LinkedIn. It provides a strategy of how to incorporate LinkedIn into your normal work week.
Before reading this book, I knew that LinkedIn was a good way to network. But after reading this book, I now know that LinkedIn is a GREAT way to grow your network and connections. It's a GREAT way to engage in conversations with experts in your field.
Richard provides the approach of how to connect with the right people to build the brand you want to build. He speaks from experience here. He's not telling us what we should to. He's expressing how LinkedIn has been key to helping him achieved his goal of being a full-time freelance writer after retiring from his corporate J O B.
LinkedIn provides the means to offer a virtual handshake. LinkedIn showcases your professional life, your milestones and your skills.
I've been using Linked since 2004, but now I realize I've just been treating it mostly a resume page with live connections to people, companies, nonprofits and universities. As Richard points out in this book, it's much more than this. Richard provides many examples of how best to use LinkedIn to grow your network, as well as explaining what not to do in this playing field. He provides the rules of the game, so to speak.
LinkedIn is a platform for building a valuable professional network. LinkedIn is a stage for sharing information about you, your work, your brand, your business. LinkedIn is a source to stay updated in your industry. LinkedIn is a way to succeed by helping others find what they're looking for.
I highly recommend this book to people who feel stuck and want to expand their possibilities.
Move this book to the top of your reading list if you want to . . . expand your network, grow your business, advance your career, brand yourself, build trust and respect as a professional, or simply be a nice person by encouraging your peers.
I'm so glad I met Richard through LinkedIn. Very few writers can make a living through writing alone. Richard knows how to beat the odds. And he generously tells us how we can too.
Never underestimate the power of one more great relationship!
Light on content. The ebook was formatted in an unusual way, which detracted from the author's credibility. I'm expected to believe that someone who can't format an ebook in the standard way is an expert author and ghostwriter?
4.0 out of 5 stars Well Organized, Concise and Very Useful Advice for Maximizing LinkedIn, May 10, 2016 By Jill Clardy Edit Review Delete Review This review is from: Focus on LinkedIn: Create a Personal Brand on LinkedInTM to Make More Money, Generate Leads and Find Employment (Business Professional Series Book 7) (Kindle Edition) I was an early adopter of LinkedIn, and have used many of the features of LinkedIn; however I was still able to pick up quite a few helpful hints from Richard Lowe's book. I have encouraged many colleagues to polish their LinkedIn profiles, particularly when working at a company that was bought out and many jobs were being eliminated. I have supplied quite a few professional headshots for former colleagues as well. Lowe emphasizes that it is to be used only for business and professional activities, not to be confused with the social aspects of Facebook and other social sites. He also writes that a LinkedIn profile should be updated frequently by adding experiences and contacts, recommendations, etc. I have known many people who create a profile, then allow it to stagnate until they find themselves once again in the job market. It is my belief that keeping the profile current signifies a person that is savvy and connected and ambitious rather than complacent.
There were a few aspects of the book that I felt could be improved:
1) occasional grammar and wording errors 2) the drawings are rather amateurish and don't render well in the Kindle format and could probably be omitted altogether 3) some discussion about how retired people can use the service effectively 4) a discussion as to the features and merits of a paid LinkedIn subscription versus the free version
I found it to be a very useful and well organized book that can be read in just over one hour. If you're new to LinkedIn, or if you're looking to maximize the value of this widespread platform in your career, you will find much useful advice in this book. I received a complimentary copy from the author for review.
Robert Lowe did a superb job detailing and explaining the steps I needed to build an promote my personal brand using this program. As a result of reading this book, I learned about all of the components of my account. I also got a better appreciation of the importance of this program. He provided background information that will help me to integrate the other social media sites I use with my LinkedIn account. The message I took away from this book is that to be successful in developing my brand platform, I need to invest wisely in this endeavor taking full advantage of all of this program's options. The dedication of time will yield positive results.
