TOUCHED BY A GODDESS Yasuke, 15 years old, is about to build up the courage to confess his love to his childhood friend Akari, who’s fallen for him, too. There’s just one problem: Yasuke’s family lives in a Japanese shrine, and when he breaks the shrine’s sacred mirror, it triggers a curse, releasing the cute and well-endowed goddess of misfortune, Orihime, into the real world! Now Yasuke can’t ever be out of Orihime’s sight—if he gets too far away, he dies, and can only be brought back to life with a quick kiss from Orihime!
This is like manga Xanax. It’s deadly boring and the central premise is grating. Guy whose name doesn’t matter accidentally frees the goddess of calamity and he has to keep her happy lest mayhem ensue.
This premise is immediately wasted in favor of the extra wrinkle that the pair must remain in physical contact or the guy dies. The author clearly thinks that this is hilarious. It is decidedly not and it cannot sustain the whole book like he thinks it can.
Toss in the busty older sister and the put-upon childhood friend and you have the most basic of basic harem set-ups. Behold all the miscommunications and assumptions and fan service. Honestly, I’m not predisposed to like a series that starts with the male lead hiding under stairs so he can look up skirts anyway.
It picks up a little steam at the end, but that’s like saying a bear entering hibernation has more momentum than a bear IN hibernation. I was just reading it to finish it by that point.
This book reminded me a lot of Today’s Cerberus, except that took the supernatural harem manga and balanced its fan service (which I liked better there) and nothing lead with a lot of heart and fun characters. This just doesn’t have anything that hasn’t been done better somewhere else.
Chobits (given how the goddess looks and also how she looks at the male MC along with how she acts) x Dears x what is that manga/anime in which the MC keeps being bludgeoned for no good reason by a girl or well there are a couple I believe + throw in some more manga featuring a boring MC and girls just keep on coming for him. It was a fun premise though that if he stepped away too far from Orihime that he would just POOF die, but it got to be too much at times. I would have liked it if he just had a bit more distance, like say 5-10 metres instead of I don't know this little? And can his older sister be a bit more chill and a little less murderous? And really, she is truly the goddess of misfortune, LORD meteorites, random thunderstorms, scary clouds of doom, and so much more. Oh dear~ Did I mention a sister with a big crush on her sister? Yuuuup. Not sure if I will continue, if I can find it for free, sure, otherwise.. mm maybe not.
All harem manga seems to be built around the same tropes; what makes one different from another is why the harem forms. This one is traced to a broken mirror and a goddess who must stay in contact with the protagonist. When they separate, he dies unless she performs a certain act to revive him (I'll let you guess what). The goddess is competing with his childhood friend who has grown to be a hottie.
The art is good and the characters are pleasant. I'm not sure I'll still feel the same after 6 volumes.
Read from volume one to volume four in a 6h flight! Easy to follow, well developed, coherente and funny! (Best of all: it has no cliche jokes!). Amazing artwork and cool afterwords.
Has a rather unusual dynamic of a somewhat pitiful goddess as a main character. Orihime is sweet but unstable due to her past loneliness. Worth at least Vol. 2
Upon starting this, I was under the implication the publisher description implied a proximity thing. It has nothing to do with proximity. The fact is, Yasuke and Orihime must be touching in some way at all times. If they are not touching, Yasuke will drop dead, and Orihime will have to revive him with a kiss. Obviously, this leads to some awkward public and private situations.
Yasuke’s life gets difficult because of this. Everyone he knows has a problem with how physically close the two of them are, all the time. They can’t so much as use the bathroom or change clothes without holding hands. Some people find it so problematic, they try to convince them to separate.
It makes things with Akari especially stressful, because how can he confess his feelings to her when he’s always holding hands with another girl and refusing to leave her side? Most of the drama between Yasuke and Akari could be avoided if she were let in on the goddess thing from the start. Instead, she’s left confused and frustrated.
The series is apparently harem genre, but if it is, that must come in more later. This volume doesn’t really have anything in it to make it seem like a harem. It comes off as more of a love triangle, but it can be hard to tell things like that from just one volume.
Overall, I like this book. It’s not amazing, but it’s a cute and funny romantic comedy. I wouldn’t mind reading more of the series. The plot twist toward the end has me curious to see how things will play out. I also can’t help but wonder if that twist will happen again with other people. It would make sense if that’s how the harem thing gets incorporated.
There are some bonus comics in the back, as well as some translation information, and a short behind the scenes comic with the creator. Taguchi’s mascot is a hamster and that’s adorable.
I think I’ll be adding this series to my to-read list, but it won’t be a priority. It will likely be a long while before any more reviews for it get added.
Maga-Tsuki is rated Older Teen and deals with possible death as well as awkward situations for the protagonist due to his special circumstances so use your best judgment before letting younger readers at this book.
So there is this young man named Yasuke and he wants to confess to his childhood friend Akari that he likes her but he has to do it just right because although he had a crush on her for 10 years he has never had the courage to settle on how to say it lest he might ruin their friendship by accident(I am sure many of us know this feeling.) However while doing choirs he accidentally broke a sacred Mirror in his family's shrine and releases remarkably adorable and naive goddess. Unfortunately for Yasuke she is a goddess of misfortune so now his soul is inside of her so if he ever lets go of her then he will die and only by kissing him can she bring him back to life so long as she does it in time. Now Yasuke is constantly being accompanied by the goddess Orihime making everyday life awkward enough but how will he be able to confess to Akari now?
I knew things could get a bit perverse picking this title up but I found this story which is unlike the alergic to the opposite sex stories I have read in the past would be an interesting change and I was right. Given a choice, one of my favorite parts of the book would have to be when Yasuke accidently let's go of Orihime's hand to stop Akari from leaving and ends up kissing her as he dies leading to a surprise slap from her. This book is full of misunderstandings and aggressive friends who wish they has Yasuke's recent luck with girls.
A rocky start with a solid finish. The first third of the book almost made me stop reading. The first scene is the main character trying to look up girl's skirts with his friends. My eyes were rolling far too often with the start of this manga. To my delight the story takes a more serious and romantic turn in the second half. The dynamic between the three characters evolves and we actually see the main character gain some emotional depth within the first volume.
There are a few fan service scenes but it's not over the top. As long as the pervy aspect of the character and his friends doesn't return then this might be a romantic comedy to follow.
Aku lupa detilnya gimana, dibacanya bbrp bln yg lalu... Terlalu byk komik yg dibaca...(--")
this pervy manga gets the main character in a situation where he has to deal with pleaseing to goddesses and keeping his childhood friend/ crush from killing him all while being stuck to her
