Olivia is an exceptionally talented killer with a dark past and a questionable future. As the lead executioner for the Supernatural Council of the eastern United States, she patrols her territory delivering justice and death without remorse. Embarking on the always political, challenge fueled Conferences in Vegas, she has no doubt in her ability to protect her Council. If only Hash, had been left behind in St Ann. The manor comes under attack from the most unlikely source. Her relationship with Logan presses boundaries she isn’t ready to cross and decisions will have to be made.
Well, the bloom is officially off the rose, guys. While it's still action-packed murder and mayhem, I'm finding it more and more difficult to look past the things that have slowly bothered me more and more with each book.
The editing errors are starting to piss me off. Some of this is basic "me" or "I" grammar, dammit. The lack of explanation...dear god, what is that!? Like the author has something against tying up plot threads. I'm pretty sure Olivia killing people with a touch is something worthy of a couple paragraphs of explanation. And things happen that I assume will only matter in a future book, because there was less than zero reason to include it in this book aside from further proving how incompetent Olivia truly is.
Unfortunately, Olivia's behead-now-ask-questions-later philosophy and filthy mouth are not enough to save the reader from the truth, which is that she's actually a fucking moron. Every time she walks through a doorway, she's attacked. Every time she goes somewhere alone, she's attacked or kidnapped. Any time she allows an offender to live, they show up to kill her again. She keeps thinking "Maybe I should call somebody before solo stalking a monster in the dark...Naaaah, I'll be fine." And then she almost dies again. She runs around unarmed, getting attacked or starting fights. This bitch never learns from her mistakes! She literally says "I'm always careful" when she is absolutely the least careful, most suicidal, jump-the-gun nutbag I've ever read.
I liked her at first. I mean, any sword swinging murderess that introduces herself with her middle finger before killing everyone is my kinda gal. But after four books of editing errors, TSTL moments, and things from Book One still not being explained...I'm not enjoying this so much anymore.
Honestly, the Goddess With A Blade series and the Guardian Witch series have done this way better. I'll keep my eye out for the next book, but I'm probably done with this series.
I like this series but I don’t love it, but I can’t stay away either ;)
I like this series but I don’t love it, but I can’t stay away either ;) I like Olivia ,but I don’t like having another self loathing kickass heroine who is tough and strong but is blind to her own self worth and is always foolishly thinking she needs to constantly a) prove her self worth to herself and others b) do everything she can by herself to prove said self worth , I mean everyone knows to be truly “badass” you must do everything alone and depend on no one ..... Sigh And just when she gets help and seemingly a clue,we always seem to end up back where we started... How, how can someone like Olivia be sooooo damn needed everyone is always needing her for something and yet, no one truly seems to trust her judgement ? Like about the North pack Alpha ? I mean come on,any “Alpha “ shifter who prefers a penthouse in a big city w/out a place to let their animal out should be seen as suspicious, aaaaaaaaaaaaa Don’t ya think ?
Pros: This book flowed better than a Witch's Fury. I liked the relationship with Logan, though I wish it had developed a little less rapidly. The action, as always, was awesome, and the drama was good in this one.
Cons: There are a lot of characters to keep track of in this series, which can sometimes be difficult. Some characters, like Blake, have changed too abruptly, leaving me baffled by the sudden one-eighty. There are also the usual proofreading issues, though there were not as many errors in this book.
I hate reviewing books in a series after the first couple, because I’m a binge reader. I’ve now reviewed three of these books today and I’m enjoying them so want to say nice things, but they can’t be unique because my brain is fried.
It’s a good book. It’s as good as the others. Continue reading!
In this fourth book in this awesome series, Olivia and her friends are going to Vegas to deal with the conferences. She still must deal with the fallout with Blake and his drama. As well, as the closeness between Logan and herself.
However, Olivia's most trusted ally may very well be the one who is behind some horrible things happening to Olivia and her friends. Even though this betrayal is difficult she must still figure out what to do next before it is all too late.
This book was another good one in this series. It details more of Logan and Olivia, and how much they changed their relationship. I loved the change, and I loved how they acted around each other. They are a great team, and it worked out well.
I was also feeling Olivia's devastation when certain things happened in this one as well. I just couldn't believe the things that happened for her, and I felt so bad for Olivia. She has to go through so much for her friends.
I really admire her, and I got so excited with all the stuff going on in this one. I can't wait for the next one now!
Why isn't this book longer?? I want more executioner, and kick assiness!!! (Not a word I know, but it should be). I want unbridled viciousness and the ability to kill anything that threatens family and friends.
One of the best Shifter series. Action is phenomenal, characters are believable and the entire plot is excellent. Don't pass on this author, she's really good.
more deceit, more betrayal, but Olivia finds a mate..and is betrayed by the very woman she helped out of the gutter...attacked again and again...she comes through.
